Hopefully it will not decide this match but on another day it might. Absolutely ridiculous to keep on doing it. On the other hand, before the instant replays most of these marginal no balls would not have been given by the umpitre so it would be out.

surely it is something that can be decided by hawkeye and therefore the 3rd umpire can monitor it for every delivery

I hate the system they have now which is only checking it after a wicket Sad

yes BJT I don't doubt recent series are more appropriate but to get a proper sample size I like a few years worth of data...also a little too convenient imo to choose 2012 as cut off point given england won in india in 2012lets face it SA are the team who travel best, a lot of other teams struggle...eng and aus are both in that club

Show me a side that performs better away from home....

For a start, Aus would have lost, or will have lost 11 out of their last 20 matches away, not 13.  7 of those were in the first 10 of that series of games, meaning lost 4 of their last 10 away.

England in their last 20 have lost 9 games and won 6.  In their last 10, they have only won 1 match, and lost 6.  With half of them against WI and NZ.

Sure Aus don't travel very well, but at the end of the day, unless they are playing New Zealand, they are playing in a different hemisphere, not just a different country.

The Aussie agony is prolonged into tomorrow. They will have to come back again for the formal execution.

I've got tickets tomorrow. Was a bit gutted to be missing the local derby against Vale when the fixture computer pulled them out of the hat first match up at home at Gresty Road. Now it looks like I'm going to be able to see us win the Ashes and then go and watch Crewe beat Vale as well. Mind you, £75 tickets and £55 train tickets and a 6.30am start from Liverpool might be a bit steep for 6 overs or so tomorrow morning.

Engladn well deserved to win the Ashes. However this series has been disappointing to say the least. Quality has been poor.

Would of been good for Aus to win in England to go with the historic series win in South Africa, winning the world cup and the 5-0 thrashing of Eng in the last Ashes. Oh well, looks like Aus just got tired of winning.

Nice to see Stuey Broad bounce back. He was a mess in Australia on the last Ashes tour when he felt the need to hire personal security guards to follow him around everywhere and then decided not to bowl for his team as Eng lost all 5 ashes tests.

It's not all bad seeing the Aus cricket team getting knocked down a peg or two, they were getting way too mouthy

Got tired of winning? They have been found out, more like. Steve Smith well and truly found out. Clearly a flat-track bully. Oz recent test success was a false dawn. Hopefully Eng go on to win at the Oval too - see no reason why they won't given their supremacy.

Just a shame they decided to offer up a benign pitch at Lord's. No doubt if it had offered as much assistance as Edgbastion/Trent Bridge, it would be 4-0 heading to the Oval.

Steve Smith can't play a swinging ball in English conditions. Kohli undoubtedly the best player right now as he can score 100's anywhere.

Stop this Steve Smith and Kohli nonsense. Abraham De Villiers is the best batsman in the world and it is not even close.

AB and Amla definately the best. Kohli may get up there but not there yet.

I do wonder how the modern batsmen would have fared on uncovered wicketsLaugh. This talk of Gilchrist being a better batsman than Knott makes my blood boil. Not to say Gilly wasn't very good and maybe changed Test cricket but he batted after Warne and McGrath bowled and the likes of Ponting and Hayden had smited. I wonder how he would have fared when there was a fire in Babylon!

i know its heresy, but i always considered hayden a flat track bully. how would he have got on against malcolm marshall? on the other hand when they talk about the modern greats its ponting/lara/tendulkar who always get mentioned. personally my favourite is the wall.

It's been clear for a few years now that AB De Villiers is by far the best batsman in the world. Smith/Kohli/Williamson/Root is the battle for the future though you'd think. None on AB's level yet though.

Yes I'm expecting that to happen, whether it will be instant, or will happen after the Oval, I don't know.
