For the third test in a row they got carried away when on top and bowled some absolute filth and let Aus off - though the 2nd test was also down to some poor catching.

The average batting score in the past 9 matches here batting first is 309 as mentioned by Mark Taylor. I think England when they bat, have to look at attacking. No point plodding around at a run rate of 2.50 to 3 runs per over. So guys like Root, Bell, Carberry, and Stokes must look to attack............England are about 50 50 my opinion to bat around 95 overs in their first dig

Why is that hard for you to understand, England have been on top at stages when bowling to Aus in the 1st inning and not pushed on - 140-5 in this test they started bowling filth to Smith and he took advantage. It has been the same in the other tests, they haven't pressed home an advantage when they've been given one or when earned.

The signs are worrying for England this morning if there is a hint of movement! Having said that once Cook gets out shuffling at the crease Carberry and Root are good leavers so if they do use their noggin and let the sun fight the Aussie attack for them there will be plenty of quick runs later in the day. |

If you remove a side for a low total then your batting line-up isn't under pressure, at the moment England are under pressure and can't take it. 140-5 is on top as a bowling unit.

At the Gabba, it was considered a road and Aus only scored 295 or so. What pressure were they under when they scored 136? NONE.
When they were bowled out for 170 on a pitch that Aus declared just short of 600, what pressure were they under? I have played plenty of cricket. England coming off a 3-0 in England, bowled out first innings for 130 odd. Clearly a side under pressure. ffs. |

Reality is HK, that Aus have controlled all aspects of this series, and most of last. The only reason they have lost wickets is foolish shots. That isn't England being on top, that is Australia playing a high risk vs reward, and lowering it when the reward needed to be more consistent, which is exactly what they did in the first test.
At no point have England been on top here. None of the first 5 wickets were due to any contribution they had. Aus gave them wickets and then decided to knuckle down and get some runs on the board. |

Good morning! I like your thinking but fear there is more chance of some Englishmen being arrested for trying to impersonate cricketers than Aussie's for taking a dive although they may have some history on that one! |
