Are the mines inserted into the pitch tonight?
![]() |

currrent partnership 29 overs with new ball several overs old should be easiest time to bat ![]() |
By:
agreed but when as that stopped Eng losing 5 wickets next day cheaply
By:
It's either 240 all out or 300+
Not sure about the influence of the second new ball as Sharma is the only quick. Can't see a draw but it will trade lower. KP's low strike rate means this is no ordinary Indian pitch. This is SLOW. The 'stake and walk the dog' lay, remains the draw. 250 and I think England are smiling. 300+ and we're laughing.. |

maybe however england playing bresnan at 8 averages 33 in test cricket highest score in the 90s then swan average 22 highest score in 80s not forgetting prior average 43 and roots 1st clas average of 38 with a double hundred to his name

So what will happen :
If the scores are tied say start of morning session day 3 which result is most likely ? Day 2 Eng bat at 2 an over for 30 overs - 260 - maybe longer Ind bat at 2an over for 90'overs - 180 that takes us in to day 3 session 1 and doesn't account for weg - 200/220 Scores level after 7 sessions - 8 sessions left - Eng need at least 200 - can they do this ? Depends on cook / kp Ind have to chase 200 ish in 3 sessions @ 2 and a bit an over - ill be getting up day 5 if that I'd the case |

Thoughts ?

for a start if england make 250-275, then india wont be level till lunch on the 3rd day..if they reach it at all, there are so many permutations my head is scrambled
By:
think i'd take a 250 to win scenario day 5 now
By:
got a feeling tomorrow will be more entertaining than today
By:
sno2 think you lost a day somewhere
By:
lol didnt notice that..sno2 i hope you didnt lay the draw on those calculations

Ishant was reversing it after only 40 overs or so................ expect Jimmy to be tough to cope with, esp as the bounce gets lower

Just my English I think

ok guys changed my position here india my big loser green on draw Eng win happy days have laid quite a bit at 2.2 india seemed very short since eng only 5 down and india not batted yet
By:
mirror image of above, totally reversed my draw lay, big red india...for now at least
By:
reminds me of those Test matches in the 1960s, a lot of them were like this one and you dont tend to see them thesedays
I'll make a helicopter view prediction that its a 280 plays 230 then 190 and then 140 all out chasing 240 good luck all, a Test where non cricket lovers find it unattractive and cricket lovers adore it. There's a lorra cricket to come in this match |

India too short....
The way i read it is Pitch has been prepared for a result as lix has pointed out India aint playing 4 spinners for nothing. Day 1 pitch is as low and slow as anything we have seen in India for quite some time....I'm far more confident that it gets harder to play on than holds together. KP#s knock tells as its a hard pitch to score on.... England have the luxury of taking their time India have to force the issue which on top of batting last puts them at a distinct disadvantage. If it starts turning into a mine field Englands spinners are better....if it starts shooting along the deck englands quicks are better.... They make it to lunch today India will be hard pressed to win this match |
By:
Back to my thinking of earlier today Ive laid India as the best option
Too much potential downside on laying the draw @ 4.0 when I cant really see India winning if we can get to 250 plus As stated below India havent got 4 spinners to bowl on a road but Monty and Swann are imho superior to the indian 4 |

By:
Very small even red on all 3 outcomes after Day 1.
Opening lay of India, look short (what else is new ) |

Some early returns

Level green England and the draw. Only India can screw me now.
By:
Draw going low here.
By:
batsmen wearing caps tells the hole story dead pitch ,dead game ,that 3.2 the draw looks like an early christmas gift to me

Well played, Joe Root
, Well played Matt Prior. Not just my pocket talking, very controlled - doing the same thing as previous matches - fight going out of India. |
By:
Got a bit greedy, didn't take enough.....shouldn't matter though
By:
What do we feel a good score for englang would be?
300 seemed a cert now not so sure |
By:
would take 275

I think we have been calling the pitches wrong all series and this one is no different in that respect. They all looked dreadful but with applied concentration they were ok to bat on. None disintegrated. If Bresnan finds batting easy I shall switch some green from the draw and England onto them to cut my losses.
I think India contrarary to opinion have a big chance on this pitch if it does break up on day 4. Timing is everything! I also just missed out on India during this post. Draw will save me but I think India will attack this match from here on in. Watch and see. A nice cameo from Swann with a bit of luck! |

.Bit annoyed with my greed. Still, long way to go. |
By:
Root gotta hit out now try and force it a little
By:
if ishant sharma of all can look soo good on this pitch, imagine jimmy n bresnan here....back england here, cant go wrong...
By:
Woke up to see 3.9 india was nice had big red on them
Now this gutted But just laid some more at 2.22 ![]() Blame it on lack of sleep |
By:
On the same lines - I keep have to reminding myself - India are pretty toothless as an attack in comparison to England. All will be well.
