Any chance of a declaration

Bob Hope, no hope and further to that no chance and slim and I think Slim just left town.
Congratulations to everybody. A great series and the first time I have not lost a penny! Long may it continue! I wouldn't say I called any of the results having backed India first every time but at least worked out what was going on, which, was more than I could say about the pitches. |

Might declare when/if bell gets to 100

I see a market on william hill. Highest opening partnership (2inn) England at 1.53 India at 2.37 and Draw 21
England I think lost their first wicket at 48. So first reason why their price is high. Another thing what happens if India dont bat at all bets void? |
By:
Can anybody answer this question?
By:
void if India don't bat
By:
ok. Thanks tony, Do you reckon the price on England is value? If india bat obviously sehwag will be risk free and chances are they might lose a wicket before 48 runs or more.

Very enjoyable reading the comments through the test match, one thing ive learnt though, some people talk a load of old bollocks, india can win? good value? 20s good price, england declare? Either some characters are just wind up merchants or not reading the game or pitch. But some interesting comments also well done boys hope your all collecting on the draw and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Excuse me, I asked if England might declare, no need for abuse

By:
think in the main terriers the forum has become a lot better in recent months many more intuitive and constructive comments think many here laid the draw @ 1.10 overnight giving up a little of their green me included, but hey has been a very good trading over the 1st 3 days or so and a bit flat days 4/5

By:
how long will they play?
By:
for another 50 mins or about 13 overs
By:
assume Bell gets to 100, then we can expect about 30-35 more runs, total 340-345

Hope all did ok..........much improved thread/forum this test, may have lost some of the Free Money /GSM merchants (with one notable exception, God bless his cotton socks
). Perhaps, test match cricket attracts a better sort![]() .General thrust for me was laying India, as I kept saying (and reminding myself when doubting or over-analysing) their attack is just not potent enough. However, terriers, I would say an India win was still very much a possibility (although briefly) after the Pietersen wicket. England win anyone? With some loose change? Nah ![]() |

what's bell playing at ? Only needs 11 yet blocking like there's no tomorrow
By:
plenty of time yet
By:
won't declare till he gets there
By:
Must be one of the most boring Test Matches ever, nothing in it for the bowler whatsoever. Cook, won't declare, why would he want to send his bowlers out there for even 30 mins

I found all the chat about the pitch pretty tedious. It was blamed for the dull match.
Ok it was slow with no turn. But if India could bat they would have got 450 and the match would have been very interesting. If we had to win, the tempo would have been higher and we would have declared, leaving a tantalising chase. The pitch was dead but India's weaknesses and England's contentment with a draw were the reasons for a dull game. |

I think India were equally content with a draw, Injera, and the pitch was dead for precisely this reason.
screaming from beneaththewaves 12 Dec 12 07:52 Have backed the draw at 5/2 in a couple of Ladcrokes shops. Not many Ranji Trophy games on this ground, but the most recent have been slow, high-scoring draw pitches. More to the point, I believe a draw would suit both teams here. England would obviously get their series win, while Dhoni et al. would avoid a defeat, which would be enough for Srinivasan (BCCI boss and Super Kings owner), to face down all the calls to sack him immediately. "Avoided defeat ... turned the corner ... signs of promise ... wise head needed ... no time for knee-jerk reactions ... etc." I love the way Dhoni even managed to identify the obligatory positives for the future in his post-match interview :"We tried a few combinations that really worked. We were playing with the four bowlers (two fast and two spinners) for quite some time but over the years what we have seen is that we had some part timers who could bowl 15-16 overs if needed which we really have lost. So that means we need to bring in someone like Ravindra Jadeja into the side to keep a lid on the batsmen. "Cheteshwar Pujara's batting was a positive, Virat Kohli's batting and attitude was good and Gautam Gambhir got back in the runs," he added. So there we are. A bore draw was all that Dhoni and his sponsors required to be able to spin a Dhoni-led future. |
