I see lfc1971
Makes it difficult to understand a problem if we don't understand the cause? A lot of problems we have now in this World, if we try to trace their cause, often we find we need to look into the past. Still you have a right to do things your way lfc1971, but I doubt I will agree with your conclusions |

Now if there are 8 million Irish living in England I expect them to pipe down about independence
Im not impressed |
|
By:
History doesn’t bother me LFC , I insist on being unbothered by that

That’s good , then the Irish can stop talking about it , thank fk

That seems to me to be of more importance , more valuable

I’m reading a book just now , ‘ The Killing of Thomas Niedermayer’
I would recommend it , That’s enough to be going on with 1973 is hardly in the present, poor chap cant stand by a word he says. I'm sure its out of love for Germany that you are claim to read this. |
|
By:
I remember 1973 , I know people who were alive in 1973, such a story it tells almost forgotten

One thing you should remember the Irish had to fight for their independence from this country
after WW1. The IRA did a lot of the fighting. You then expect them to fight for the people they had been fighting against to gain the independence of Ireland?????? In fact Ireland was NEUTRAL in WW11 it fought neither for us or Germany. In the circumstances I think that was reasonable. |
|
By:
Yes ebul the Irish are selfish like that , they left it to Britain to fight against the most ruthless and evil of enemies . And were indifferent to the dangers Britain faced , the fight to the death that Britain had embarked upon
Whilst they remained ‘ neutral ‘ Well that doesn’t impress me , they were selfish and dishonourable then , and now |
|
By:
Here’s a little bit of information from that book :
The IRA had been seeking an alliance with Germany for several years . This is sometimes presented as simply a shrewd manoeuvre by the IRA, following the old adage that England’s danger is Ireland’s opportunity . However the relationship between the IRA and the Nazis runs rather deeper The previous August the IRA’s main propaganda sheet , the War News , had described Jews as unscrupulous wretches and promised it’s readers that once it gained power the IRA would rid the country of such vermin It also assured its readers that if troops from Nazi Germany ever invaded Irish territory they would come ‘ as friends and liberators ‘ |

By:
Either you do or don't care about history lfc. You can't do both.
Cherry picking things to care about simply makes you a hypocrite. Who could disagree with that? |
|
By:
History can't be changed, nobody is guilty of the mistakes of our forebears, the present and future are all we can change.
The oirish attacked Britain when it was at war with Germany sleekit filthy vermin. |
|
By:
peckerdunne started to talk about the war pineapple , that was a mistake, if he can talk about then so will I
That seems to me to be a good arrangement You see this is the problem when you get into a discussion with the Irish , they can only see one side Brexit is just the latest example in that sorry tale |
|
By:
Here’s peckers first statement about WW2
England was bombed, bust , desperate I expect you would be grateful we came to assist .... Now this is after the war against Nazi germany that the Irish refused to fight in You see this is the problem with Irish people like pecker To have the gall to even come out with that tripe |
|
By:
Probably too difficult for someone like pineapple to process , maybe he’s Irish there’s 8 million in England ?
I don’t know |
|
By:
Brexit ? They should respect the UK referendum vote , behave as a member of the EU with not only the rights but also responsibilities that brings and stop threatening violence
That would make everything much easier , let’s see if the Irish can do that Anythings possible , I read it somewhere |
|
By:
Wonder if lfc will give a single thought as to why the Irish acted like they did but I imagine it's all 1 sided in his head
|
|
By:
I’m not interested , I’ve just explained their actions during WW2
At a time when Britain was in the greatest danger , they refused to help Everyone has their reasons , but those are the facts |
|
By:
200,000 Irish fought in WW1.
Even though officially neutral 70,000 Irish fought in the British armed forces in WW2. |
|
By:
They fought for the British armed forces , be thankful to Britain
|
|
By:
You see Britain had to fight in WW2 , in every corner of the world and in every theatre of that war
And it was British spitfires that flew over England , be thankful for that as well |
|
By:
You should be thankful to those Irish that fought.
|
|
By:
I am , they did their duty , unlike Ireland
|
|
By:
You see Britain did it’s duty and saved the world from Nazi Germany
Ireland did not |
|
By:
At a time when Britain was in the greatest danger , they refused to help
Everyone has their reasons , but those are the fact They didn't refuse to help. That is the fact. You may chose to say they didn't help but that just shows your ignorance. |
