Many of my family lost their lifes in WWII and Britain and America and their allies played a major part in the defeat of the Nazis, but only a fool would discredit the part of the Russians, who defeated the cream of the German military on the Eastern front. And btw, the Russians were our Allies in WWII and Churchill and Roosevelt supplied them military aid via the Arctic convoys.

If you want to learn about the Russian-German war, I suggest that you read Prof. John Erickson`s two volume account entitled The Road To Stalingrad and The Road To Berlin, which is the regarded by scholars as the greatest account of the war on the Eastern Front.

And don`t bother quoting figures from Wiki.

And don`t count the 1.5 million Germans that surrendered in April at the end of the War in the West.

I have nothing more to say on the subject.

I seem to recollect a Harbour and German Boats ?

TBH when I was young I actually Thought there was a Cause , I would imagine many on the other side thought the same

But when u seen PIGS from both sides blowing up Women and children Sad ,,,,,,,,THE ABERCORN ,and I don't care

who the perps were , I realised what scum must be involved ,and it was nowt I wanted to be associated with Sad

Both sides have probably done worse , but Maiming and blinding Children ,is not worth any cause ................

Mac your figures are wrong , I read years ago not in wiki the true figures and I remember being surprised there were 2.8 million german soldiers who surrendered  to the western allies between D day and April 1945
More german soldiers were killed and captured by American and British soldiers than the Russians
Oh and by the way the western allies had the difficult and time consuming task of taking and feeding and processing these captured german soldiers , while the Russian army was more likely to shoot them
That’s when they weren’t raping an estimated 2 million german , Polish , Ukrainian ..women between the ages of 8 and 80
They weren’t called thevatmy of rapists  for nothing

Or do you dispute those figures as well in your bigoted mindset?

Oh and by the way the military aid that you mention supplied to Russia by Churchill and Roosevelt in the arctic convoys
That was our military and merchant  navy undertaking that perilous task to help Russia ,
That was just another dangerous theatre of war that Britain and America had to undergo

That mass slaughter by the Irish in Scotland so complete it all but wiped out the original people
Did they teach you that in Irish history ? , look it up

Shame that kind of thinking is bandied about Irishone,a simple task for UK to leave and a pigs ear up to now, still time for common sense  and using the Irish Sea backstop.

Since you are an avid history buff lfc maybe you can elaborate about Liverpool and the slave trade, tia.

People engage with him for the entertainment value he provides. The only problem is he doesn't know when to stop. Theres a fine line between being a clown and being an idiot. He can't differentiate between the two.

No that’s wrong , I’ve explained before that Ireland with other foreign enemies of England tried to overthrow England’s parliament , gained after a bloody  civil war in England ending the absolute monarchy , the first democratic parliament .
Now that was a big mistake on Ireland’s part If you are part of the war then you can’t expect not to suffer the consequences now can you

It is amazing that you can make accusations, and not mention one name or one date.

Could you be referring to the death of Charles II in 1685, and the succession by his brother James II, a Catholic.
James gave a Declaration of Indulgence in England (and Ireland) granting freedom of religion.  This was unpopular with Protestants.
When an heir was born in 1688 to Catholic James II, it was feared a succession line of Catholic monarchs would result, and Protestants renounced their loyalty to their King (I assume they were "Loyalists"),
and invited his daughter Mary (Protestant) and her husband, William of Orange, Protestant, to the English throne.
King James II fled to France to get help from Louis XIV.
"King" James looked to Ireland as a path back to the throne of England, arriving on the southern coast at Kinsale in 1689.
The Battle of the Boyne 1690 was between a usurped English King, James II, and his usurper William of Orange.

Perhaps lfc1971 has a different period of history in mind where the Irish were at fault and deserved to suffer the consequences.
If lfc1971 has the time he could list the invasions of England by Irish armies over the centuries, with dates and names of course.

I am thankful that at least some of the jews survived the holocaust. At least it was a better result than the whole jewish community of york being massacred by the english in 1190.....

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from hell
Blue skies from pain
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail
A smile from a veil
Do you think you can tell

Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts
Hot ashes for trees
Hot air for a cool breeze
Cold comfort for change
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage

After Henry 8th's reformation act to create the Church of England the last thing they wanted was to have the Catholic side of the Stuarts take over again.

The Jocks were a constant pain in the arse and collaborated with the French at any opportunity, creating a back door into England.

The fact the Irish assisted him made them a common enemy.

In fact after Anne died they went to the Hanoverians who were the only family with a protestant relative of the Stuart line.

George 1st was really the first King to have limited power and from that day on became more of a figurehead and parliament/people took control.
In fact the first 3 or 4 Georges were absolutely useless!
