A score of 72 on HbA1c isn't the same as a blood sugar of 7.2
Are you sure she wasn't confusing the two? There is no doubt that there is a crackdown on diabetes and the numbers have changed. But pills for 7.2??? |

Does nobody get offered an insulin test?
|
|
By:
A HOMA-IR test will tell you how hard the body is working to keep glucose levels normal which from what I've seen is a better indicator of how bad the insulin resistance is when used in line with blood glucose tests.
|
|
By:
Homeostatic model assessment - insulin resistance.
|
|
By:
At 7.2 I wouldn't have considered tablets either.
Then what would you have done? It's hardly likely to get better left alone. And if the test is confirmed then what? |
|
By:
Assuming the readings of 7.2 are for the standard glucose test of course.

Is Diabetes 2 actually a disease?
It is high blood sugar of course, which is caused by our more sedentary life and richer food. They have diagnosed me with it, I do not do a lot ![]() But apart from a tiredness I don't actually suffer, it is an extremely cushy disease. The reason for all this medication is to stop people having to go into hospital But if it costs us £1 billion in this, are we saving anything????????????????????????????????????????? |
|
By:
I assume you take Metformin UBLE/REGY.

And just as much to upgrade and re-equip existing medical machinery eg beds, trolleys, ambulances, hoists, etc, to cater for the super-large customers, the result of over indulge and junk food and bane of modern society.

I'm not arguing with you about this any more, crippen. You type a load of guff. It's like trying to show you man went to the moon, you "know it all" yet are nearly always wrong and simply ignore anything which shows you as being so.
Denzil you are too hooked on diet as an answer to everything, possibly because of your own experiences, to appreciate that it ISN'T the answer to everything. afaik - neither of you have diabetes. You both adhere to an online self-promoting quack. And you're not medically qualified. Diabetes is largely genetic. it is a disease. Not only one that's self-inflicted. This news coverage smacks of a deflection from bad news tactic. There have been 2 threads on this now. And as with so much on this poxy forum, it's become tribal. |

Then what would you have done?
STUDYFORM for all his bull and bluster can't answer the question. neither of you have diabetes You can bet we haven't, or aren't going to get it either. We both know what causes S2 diabetes and how to prevent it. |
|
By:
Type 2 is lifestyle and diet related; someone doing little or no exercise and consuming rich sugary food eg convenient/junk food - the main sufferer; taking up 1 in 6 beds in hospital. And increasing predominantly in young children.

Big differences in diabetes prevalence between Anglo-Saxon types, for want of a better phrase, and our former colonial cousins:
. https://www.diabetes.co.uk/news/2012/Sep/type-2-diabetes-risk-much-higher-for-brits-of-south-asian-and-african-descent-92828151.html It's so bad that the upper limit of the 'normal' BMI range has been lowered from 25 to 23 for them . https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-23143010 Remind me again - which subset of the Great British population is growing in numbers? Oh, we don't talk about that, let's chuck away any forensic examination of population characteristics and just blame everybody. |
|
By:
Alot of the non natives didn't have this issue until they took up our Western diet and lifestyle which to put it bluntly is shyte.
|
|
By:
That's a very good point bongo.
These types traditionally in their own countries don't eat a diet rich in animal products like we do in Europe. But when they come here and start to consume them as we do they quickly develop diabetes. |

Watched a cracking video about this subject last week alas can't remember from where.
|
|
By:
The China Study is an interesting book and a best seller in America.
Written by T. Colin Campbell, PhD. It's about the illnesses suffered in many towns throughout China. The finding were, that the richer the town and the availability of animal products the more unhealthy were the people. While in the poorer towns that ate plain simple diets, most of the diseases occurring in the richer towns were non existent. |

Those videos got me off the casein the same day.

Yes Denzil,
There's so much evidence around about the devastating effects that rich animal based diets have on our health, that the way the health specialists simply brush aside the findings is nothing short of criminal. They know perfectly well these products are making us sick, but all the advice we get is to cut down on this or that, instead of to stop eating it altogether. |

That says it all for me. |

I just keep my blood sugar at the right level...I do it by exercise rather than diet. Definitely easier than the big C, bubonic plague, etc Which I am glad of |
|
By:
The trouble is Dr Crippen we like eating tasty food..
|

We like alcohol, we like GAMBLING,
It is sad that some of the best things in life cause us harm...oh well |

UBLE/REGY
I think roast potatoes with Sea Salt/Onion vinegar are tastier than Organic Ribeye steak and I've lived on both for around 1 month+,much healthier long term living on the potatoes, less risk of disease and a fraction of the price. |

I will give it a try Denzil ta

Of course if I had a succession of beautiful women to make love to all day long
I might keep myself a bit healthier....unfortunately the NHS does not provide that oh well |
|
By:
Maybe but if they are that beautiful the exercise mightn't go on too long.
|

I am really confused now I have to go back on Wednesday they want more blood in case I have type 1, but after reading studyform,Dr c and denzil I am more confused than ever.
|
|
By:
Best to do your own research G Hall if it's type 2 you can easily reverse the condition with diet this is beyond doubt regardless of what is posted to the contrary and fasting will speed up the process all the best hope it's not type 1.
|
|
By:
G Hall I take it you're not on any medication yet?
|
|
By:
Here's the danger of an optimum diet for existing sufferers:
Eliminating the fat from the diet can improve matters considerably in itself by allowing the blood sugars to drop. And make no mistake, in the majority of cases they will drop. Taking medication on top, will cause blood sugars to drop further. Hence hyperglycaemia. This is a very dangerous condition. You need to know what your doing if you're taking medication. |
