No right minded person would allow a p1sshead, a junkie, a thief, a drug dealer or a person convicted for machete offences, or someone they just didn't like the look of, to babysit their 12 year old daughter.
Now, AG, I know this family are indirectly related to you and I don't wish to offend you but you have to accept the facts and understand how all good parents would think, and they would all agree that Tia had been badly let down by her mother and grandmother as well as, obviously SH. This does not appear to be a 'normal' working class family set up, as you are so keen to portray but a completely dysfunctional underclass family of scum - like quite a few on that estate, which I know reasonably well. |

even if SH had no criminal record & no addictions i.e a blameless character he was a 37 y.o man,letting a 12 yo girl stay there alone regularly was asking for trouble.The bottom line is that the parents dont appear to have had much interest in the girl & failed to do their job.

If thats the case its only only a small fraction of the family which have these failures. I know the extended family which are not so dysfunctional. Can not disagree with you Barrow. I am sure they realise that they created this environment. They don`t need telling now. |

Potentially yes. Clearly they are people who make bad decisions, struggle with self control and are liable to react violently. |

I think that, if anything of lasting good is going to come out of this thread, the members of the forum should use their collective experience to come up with a precise and definitive list of proscribed offences, misdemeanours and predilections that can be easily printed off and presented to any adult that is likely ever to come into contact with any child who is a relative, close or distant, or close acquaintance, of any chit-chatter, for the purpose of marking that adult down as a wrong-un BEFORE anything untoward happens.

contrary to some press reports this is not the norm in working class areas. What happened to the respective fathers of Tina and her mother ? ....... it suggests a lack of long term relationships were common. |

Still sounds bad but lets get some accuracy here. The BBC reported that the 'family' were known to social services by Merton council, which is where mother and Tia lived. If they were referring to just the Grandmother for her job, it would have fallen under either Bromley or Croydon social services and they wouldn't have stated anything as 'Employee is known to employer' is hardly a newsworthy story and worth an enquiry, is it? Also, please can I have any 1.01 that SH wasn't a junkie at some stage of his life. Just look at him! A face ravaged by class As and have you ever heard of a drug dealer that is not user? How many do you know? Majority of drug dealers are illegal business men, earning a few quid her and there. What about the guys with the BMW`s Pixie do you know any of these dealers. Do you actually know what your talking about? Just because he had used class A substances in the past does not mean he still was. More of a spliff head with a liking for vodka perhaps? What was his drug of chose when he went missing? Are there any reports he is going cold turkey right now in Belmarsh? Keep thinking Pixie. |

So are you saying that Stuart Hazell had never taken crack cocaine in his life despite the fact that he has convictions for dealing in it?
In my life I have probably known hundreds of drug dealers through my line of work and virtually all of the low end dealers like SH have drug problems themselves and selling the gear helps them to fund their habit. |

He was part of Tia`s family for 5 years, they all knew about his crim record, yet hardly put a foot wrong in his behaviour to the family. So it was a gradual trust he gained. |
