Don't really understand going for this race but I'm sure Willie knows what the plan is. Thought he was plenty quick enough over two and a half.

I don,t think wullie knows his erse from his elbow at times, this will be faugheens 3rd diferent trip, wullie instead of trying to please your owners, to try and get each of their horses separated, run the horses at their optimum trip even if it means them running against each other, forget other folks.s horses and run yours at their best trip regardless

I agree trainers not just WM try too hard to separate their horses these days.  Felix Yonger another who was in the wrong race for me.

wullie has a harder job than most though, wullie just run the ricci horses against the wylie horses, it really is that simple!! faugheen vs briar hill over 2m 4f and you then get your answer.... CF v/s FY over 2 miles another answer solved.....

I wouldn't be scared of running hurdlers against each other over the same trip, if they are both to be future chasers. Fair enough split them if they are both being aimed at the same distance over the same discipline next year, but theyn won't be. Both are going to be chasers, so what happens as hurdlers is a big bonus. I can understand trainers wanting to split them though. Chelteham is the yearly Rome of equinity, that come with prizes.

very impressive all the way win there.
Neptune or AB??  no idea myself!!

Needs to sharpen up on jumping but has a real engine. My view, to win the Neptune he will need to learn to hurdle better but might get away with it in Albert Bartlett as engine looks very impressive. No doubt he will learn to hurdle better between now and March.

No chance if his hurdling isnt upto it in the 3 miler. Kings Palace will destroy him.

Nice school in public against (on paper) better opposition. He's beaten Azorian much easier than Apache Stronghold and Briar Hill. he didn't jump great but I don't think Emmet will ever be champion jockey. Drifter in the market too...they weren't totally confident, for whatever reason.

Jumped generally fine imo, poor jumps were case of getting close to hurdle due to the fact he was travelling so strong and jockey taking a pull to keep in check hence sketchy jumps.

At least he'll go to the festival with a minimum of 4 hurdles runs. Decent experience building up for him now.

I'd go the Neptune, they went a crawl today and regardless of his engiene he'll lose too much ground to Kings Palace at each flight. Great talent though

He will jump well, when the pace quickens, in a larger field.  For me he wins the Neptune on any ground by 5L or more.

Apart from Kings Palace there isn't another novice hurdler with the ability to beat him at Cheltenham,

I agree fox, I think he was just about coming to the end today as well. Granted it was in Heavy but they'll go a lot quicker at Cheltenham and I think Kings Palace will break him and every other horse in the Albert Bartlett

briar hill would beat faugheen in all 3 races and would win any of the 3 races ! still think they might put briar hill in supreme even though he does finish his races off well
By:
sj
When: 28 Dec 13 18:51
I think Briar hill could start now and not be quick enough for the supreme
By:
cufcno1
When: 28 Dec 13 18:57
but quick enough in the bumper to settle the race within 5 strides with good horses behind !
By:
sj
When: 28 Dec 13 19:27
Dont see your point mate. I just think he isnt quick enough for 2 miles over hurdles the bumper provides more of a test as it s 2 miles on the flat
By:

When: 28 Dec 13 19:36
well it has jumped better than faugheen in its hurdle races, the supreme is always a test of stamina anyway, might be totally wrong but we will see !

When: 28 Dec 13 19:42
Yeah I'm not saying who would win out the two mate and as you say although I think Faugheen will improve his jumping for a true run race, that it is at the minute. Kings Palace is by far and away the most solid Novice bet for me so far at Cheltenham

* Ijust just think Briar Hill doesnt have the speed for the supreme he will probably hose up nowLaugh

I wouldn't be ruling carraig mor out of the AB just yet, providing he's alright.

FF,
Apache Stronghold beat Azorian on the bridle mate.
He along with Balllyalton have been the most impressive horses as re the Neptune imo.
Pretty sure they will run in the race, which is a bonus, unlike the Mullins lot!!
The race with Ballyalton and GLV provided for me 2 outstanding performances, and probably the best race ive seen for the novices.

I backed Faugheen a while ago for the Neptune and Briar Hill for the AB. For me, The Tullow Tank has looked the best this year and looks a great ew bet at 14's NRFB, because he has the form in the book.

Its shaping up to be by far the best of the three novice races imo.

Ballyalton hasd no chance of winning the Neptune. Feel free to bring this up however times you what from here until March
By:

certainly stayed on up the hill against glv in what was probably the best trial so far in this country, wouldnt totally dismiss !

7yo trained by Ian Williams winning the Neptune? Not happening.

Faugheen is starting to have the Pont Alexandre and Boston Bob hype and guess what happened to them.....

if briar hill is in the race he wins, cos whatever he hits..he destroys !

Or is it the same hype that was applied to MDH & 543?

id like to see faugheen droped in trip against speedier types, something to push him out of that comfort zone as its all been rather too easy so far...

Agree, it'll be interesting to see whether they step up in class in a few weeks or go for an easier option, he does need some schooling or improvement from somewhere. His next race will surely be around the Neptune distance though.

If it's not around the Neptune distance then those of us who have backed him for that race can kiss goodbye to that dream!

Hopefully one more run at around 2m 4f, then Neptune, but will have to jump better.

i see a lot think faugheen is a neptune horse...i have a differing view that he will certainly end up in the albert race with briar hill in the neptune...just a thought but looks the most logical step judging by the way the horses have been trained...briar hill scooted up in the bumper and not sure he will even face 3 miles before the festival whereas faugheen has already had a run over 2m6f and 3m...

very surprised so many are keen to back for the neptune especially when that race will put extra pressure on his jumping which hasn't been so fluent so far...

he very much reminds me of mikael d'haguenet when he was a novice but for me the albert would be the logical step with him, we will see
