Kauto didn't run in the Arkle because he got injured in a fall at Exeter were Ruby remounted.

You arent meant to be referring my posts you divvie as agreed. It hassnt lasted 24 hrs LMAO.
Everyone and his dog knows Kauto fell and was remounted. He didnt run in the Arkle, I also predicted on here he would fall in the Queen Mum before the race and was the first to point out on here Nicholls saw him as a Gold Cup horse. Dont patronise and stop replying to my posts. |

gutfeeling where did I say Kauto was being considered for the Arkle ..em ?
Interesting Nicholls is doubting him as an Arkle horse and reading between the lines am wondering if he intends giving this horse a stayers education but without the hustle and bustle of an Arkle which Kauto Star also did not run in during his journey to the top. |
By:
apologies....i'll pretend i didnt make a ass of myself then :s
By:
no probs I never said he was aimed at the Arkle but do remember his low jumping from an early stage and predicting he would fall in the Queen Mum. Nicholls also revealed round about then he saw him as a Gold Cup horse which I posted up on here and nobody would have it at all. Evs the Queen Mum was an awful price for him regardless of his Tingle Creek record.

By:
eric i wasnt suggesting you did say that,i was saying he didnt run in the arkle as he wasnt eligable but turns out i was wrong as pointed out above by cv and was ruled out of that years festival by injury...
By:
Bottom line is Royal Charm's career could be about to be molded for longer trips maybe Nicholls sees him as his next upcoming potential star as Kauto Star gets older. Will be interesting to see if he takes up the 2m 5f race on Friday for experience of the course with the future in mind.

I always look to the highest rated hurdlers as time and again in the Arkle, those at the fore are those with the highest official rating over hurdles. Even last year, a horse like Osana, who had showed little over fences (albeit on unsuitable ground in Ireland) ran a cracker in the Arkle. Must be to do with the fast pace really bringing the best out in the class horses, ie those who can travel off that fast pace without feeling like they are going a stride too fast.
For this reason I still think Medemit may be the one to beat. He is likely to go into the race with the highest official hurdle rating now that Celestial Halo has gone back to hurdles and Medermit is arguably even better than he showed last year when he ran some great races despite Kings stable being under a cloud. King is back firing now. Granted, he wasn't immaculate on his fencing debut but it can be beneficial for novices to have had a little scare over fences so they actually learn something before Cheltenham. Hopefully he can put his antics lto behind him! |
By:
No worries gutfeeling, was just pointing that out to you. Also many horses who run over fences in france retain their novice status over here. Mikael D'Haguenet is a current novice Arkle fancy who has done so.

cheers cv
had forgotten all about the fall/remounting race and thought the queen mother run was in his first year here....did you back ikeal yet for the arkle or are yo waiting to see him on course.? |
By:
Yeah backed him for the Arkle along with Royal Charm. Both at big prices.
By:
nice
didnt mean too pry but i remembered you mentioning to me before how he was arkle bound and he was around the 60-70/1 area then. |
By:
captain chris would only be out for a month according to hobbs in his stable tour i expect him to be out again soon
eric morris im still waiting for the 3 horses U have that are better than finians that are english based |
By:
Alvarado I corrected that to English and Irish. I am not going to specify them though I feel they will all have a better finish to their race than Finian's who will travel very well in an Arkle imo. I get too much grief on here re my selections so am just going to discuss the horses merits in general now.
By:
which basically means you havent got any .you,ve backed ghizao and then saw finians rainbow win at newbury and just decided to pick all the holes in the horse you can find when deep down u know along with everybody else hes gonna take some stopping
ps bit of advice for you back finians rainbow as well hes special |

you get grief eric becuase you are obnoxious and patronising and an all-round smart ar5e. But none of us have actually seen what amazing tips you have come up with before a race. EVERYTHING is an aftertime.
All i'd say is if you dont want ''grief'' as you say, then show a bit of respect and let people know what your betting on like many other posters do. We are all here for the same reason, you know! |
By:
Thats not true, Eric says what he thinks, he is not always right but then are any of us. Hes alot smarter than most on here and has a very good understanding of this game.
By:
Spirit, he tells porkies mate, you'll see over time. But I dont doubt he is smart or knowledgable, you can see that in his posts.
Spirit River NO Arkle winner, imvho. |
By:
Sint agree with you about spirit river, hes scared himself falling first time out and has lost his confidence now, back to hurdling where there are still good races to be won with him. As for Eric well there are others I would delete before him and this game is all about trying to lock in value and he does come up with different opinions. Its a great game and I love the sport and as its Christmas lets be nice to each other for a change, well at least until the New Year !!

Punjabi is to have a season off resting.
Early days still but the race is cutting up. |
By:
marvinho, dunno what medermits rating is but doesnt look a natural chaser....i notice the mullins horse, thousand stars is rated 163 over hurdles after winning at chelt fest and then was 3rd to hurricane fly.with arvika legionnaire ruled out perhaps this will be mullins arkle horse?highly rated enogh to be of intrest antway

A couple of entries for Royal Charm next week, one of them a grade 2.
No further entries for Finians just yet. Lets hope the weather holds up because apparently the temperatures are due to plummet again next week. |
By:
funny old race this is turning out to be. top 4 or 5 from October not looking likely to turn up or have some questions to answer (medermit for example). Need CC to have comeback run in Jan to get him back on t'radar. Run behind SConti not looking so bad now.
By:
1.35 Plumpton for Medermit fans .. couple of good yardsticks in opposition too. Rackham Lerouge a half-brother to Punchestown.
By:
not enhanced his reputation one bit imo....doesn't jump anywhere near enough and hard fought win in the end.
By:
i thought that was a really good run from medermit personally. It was an honest run race jumping at pace, exactly what you need in an arkle trial, none of this public schooling rubbish. He's obviously a novice jumper you can tell, but he put in some nice quick leaps plenty of air at a few, he hit one but kept on galloping i was impressed actually. Nice bonus aswell if he can follow up at cheltenham.
By:
he was much better today, and showed he doesn't mind digging in when he has to. The third horse home, Rackham Lerouge, got tired late on and got done near the line, and I suspect he will improve and win a novice chase to boost the form. He lacked fitness, imo.
Overall, it was much better from Medermit today, but doesn't make much appeal to me personally. Top price is now 12/1 but interesting Alan King was talking about stepping him up in trip and will consider the new 2m4f race. |
By:
Plumpton was never gonna be ideal, a galloping track should suit Medermit much better.
By:
Decent enough run but from what I have seen so far nothing has really stepped up to the plate as yet. Best so far Finians but didn't beat much.
By:
When the pace is on he will hit them imo and he doesnt have the pace to make ground up in an Arkle. The horse finishing fast in 2nd showed Medermits lack of pace at the close.
By:
^thought it showed Medermit's lack of stamina rather than pace....doesn't look like a horse crying out for 2.5 miles to me.
By:
Horse in second isn't closing on Medermit at the end. Plus the second is rated 139 over hurdles and is condidered a better chaser by his trainer.
Had he not made that mistake 4 out Medermit would have clocked a figure around 150 on a track not playing to his strengths. Make no mistake Medermit is a serious Arkle contender. |
By:
Nothing to do with stamina he travelled well he will easily travel for 2m 4f however whatever trip it is at when the pace quickens he is going to hit some and he doesnt have the acceleration to make that back up. Looks more of a stayer over fences to me, the second showed much more speed at the close off not too good a ride.
By:
In fact Thornton started riding him out well out even though he was travelling well to try and get on top. He didnt fancy sitting quiet and trying to find a quick kick late.
By:
Dan Breen anyone? Did that well enough
By:
Royal Charm made it two from two today. Juumped well enough, perhaps iffy at one or two, but travelled well and dug deep at the end to win when it looked like he was destined for second.
Visually he does not look like an Arkle horse, perhaps want further and definitely soft ground, but todays opposition was strong enough for just his second run. According to trainer he wont be going the Arkle route anyway. Nicholls said of the Tincknell family-owned five-year-old: "He's got huge talent and just needs a bit of time and a longer trip. We will put him away now and bring him back for a possible tilt at the Grade 1 Scilly Isles Chase at Sandown at the start of February. "The Arkle is not top of the list with him as we are in no hurry with the horse." |
By:
guess the new 2 n a half novice chase will be the aim or aintree
By:
Oh paul run him in the arkle. Stop rating him with kids gloves.
Mikael will win it though pulling a tank. |
By:
Cant see how a horse can win an Arkle if he aint running in the race.So called Irish wonder horse is a stayer, sorry, but true.
