If you saw his last run in a Grade 1 you would know that wasnt his form today ... looked very flat the whole race there.
By:
You mean the one in which he fell?
By:
I mean the one in which he was stuffing todays winner Realt Dubh in a hack canter in recent days before his confidence over a fence was affected after knuckling on landing over the last. Totally different horse today however he did get around and that was THE most important think to connections.

Hurdles or bust IMHO

First time out over fences the horse was winning a Grade 1 in a hack canter last time stuffing todays winner out of sight without being asked the slightest question, today he is beaten after the 5th as observed by the trainer the question is why. You must be on something strong mate, critical he got around today now they need to find out what was wrong with him to change his form so quickly between the 2 recent races and Realt Dubh formline.
By:
Oh I see - so the relative merits of Realt Dubh mean that on a weights and measures basis this is an RSA winner? It can't jump you blind fool and I suspect you must have some ante post interest to keep mounting such a stern defence of this disappointing horse.
By:
More likely you have an interest to lack such insight and to be so stupidly thick. Did you see his last run or were you in therapy?
By:
I am happy to take into cosideration the ground today, and he was better last time, but i stand by my comments that his form both over Hurdles and fences is not 2m championship form.
He has beaten stayers in every signifacant race over hurdles and has yet to win a chase. He is as i said a stayer,no evidence to the contrary that i can see. |
By:
He should have been able to handle the ground today, won well on heavy before, bounce factor possibly, run was too bad to be true.
Either way not Arkle winning form. Too early to give up on him, every horse allowed an off day. 33/1 on here now, Mmmm...... |
By:
Panto, im not sure what Eric has written as I have him blocked, but if you were to ask him straight out whether or not he had financial interest in the horse he simply would not say, although reading between the lines I think we all know he has.
On reflection of the race, given the way he jumped, he could well have an injury of somekind. It was a bit similar to how Master Minded jumped on occasions last season in the race where he broke a rib. I would not want to write this horse off yet, but will there be enough time for him to recover this season ?? What did you make of the run from Noble Prince ? |
By:
He did jump out to his right at every fence so maybe he was feeling soemthing, but to be fair he was still going perfectly ok until hitting the 3rd last and then he walked through the 2nd last.
Maybe that fall on his debut has affected him - just like with Spirit River[;)] World Hurdle would look the most suitable Cheltenham race now? |
By:
Sint,
very odd run from Noble Prince I think they were riding it to beat Mikael and could have done with being a bit handier. The ground wpuldn't have been ideal but I'll be honest I thought he'd win today and am disappointed. Horse may end up beimg tripless it jumps (and usually travels so well) that I think it would be an interesting horse around Cheltenham over fences. Difficult to see it winning an Arkle based on today but on better ground I wouldn't totally abandon hope. Connnections will probably go up in trip but given it nearly won the County Hurdle I dont think pace is the issue - more likely ground IMO. And Eric - I was standing at the last hurd;e when Mikael walked all over Diamond Harry, Karabak et al so I am not totally blind to the horses virtues. I just think you have done your dough for the RSA. |
By:
Panto,
shame you werent nearer the line, you would have noticed Karabak just over a length behind after a bad ride from Mccoy. I keep telling you all,mik d is a Stayer. Its a shame so many of you won money on him that day,its clouded your judgement imo |
By:
Panto Prince ... MDH is not my bet in the RSA though you have to have him in combis/cover in case.
Noble Prince's form and run screams he needs further, on faster ground he will be left in the next parish by horses who have natural 2 mile pace. |
By:
Noble Prince needs to go for the 2m 4f novice chase for sure.

SINT "Thought Torphicen ran well there, going wide most of the way, probably for the better ground. On decent ground he'll be better imo but it does boost the form of Quel Espirt".
O'Grady said of the former Michael Jarvis and David Pipe inmate, equipped with cheek-pieces for the first time here: "If he comes out of this okay he'll go for the big two miler (the Grade 1 Bord na Mona With Nature Novice Steeplechase on St Stephen's Day) at Leopardstown. "I was disappointed that he got beaten at Limerick (by Quel Esprit) but I'd say that'll turn out to be as good a beginners chase as you'll see all season. "I decided to put the cheek-pieces on him today because when he hit the front two out at Limerick he started to look around him. "I hope he'll be an Arkle horse." 40/1 shot at present. ![]() |

few clues now maybe?

Huge boost for Finnians there with Hells Bay winning the Dipper - he didn't see which way Finnians went

Think we got a confirmation that FR is a serious threat in the Arkle, and Medermit will be better suited to the new novice race over 2 and half.
By:
Chaps, I think there is a potential fly in the ointment here.. Quel Esprit is entered in the Irish Arkle later this month. On his debut he showed plenty of toe and jumped great to hold of Torphicen by a cosy 5 1/2 lengths. That race was over 19.5f but he did not looks slow by any means and we know Torphicen has franked the form twice since over shorter trips.
I dont think Mullins would be interested in winning the Grade 2 race with this horse. |
By:
Hells Bay a much better horse in a bigger field, off a stronger pace, as we saw today.

Rock Noir
Could be a real dark horse. Snapped up 330 before yesterdays win. Anyone else impressed by this animal. |

Do any of you guys know if The Arkle will be the objective for Rock Noir? Several on odd%checker do not qoute this one.
Thanks in advance. |

No idea tbh Saxon. Maybe send an email to GetOn or something and ask one of their presenters to put the feelers out.

BELLVANO runs in a 2m Noivce Chase at Southwell tomorrow. He might not be so buzzy and free this season ?? Has some good form in the book, notably a runners-up spot behind Menorah.
By:
beat me to it Sint, was just about to post same.
Could be one of the 'woodwork' ones (waiting for that mare of NJH's to run again) |

Cristal Bonus interesting entry in Beginners Chase at Bangor on Fri.
By:
Flat Out looks like he could be Mullins number one, entered in a couple of novice chases this weekend and the Irish Arkle. Ran a cracker in the Supreme as well.
By:
hmm, typical Bellvano race. Has to be nursed all the time. Arkle? no ta.
By:
lol people must be crazy if they think Bellvano was a Arkle contender. Ive already told you the winner, Ghizao!
By:
Agree, looked and was shorted of top class over hurdles but had the potential to be better over fences.
Think it is about time they let him kick on instead of holding him back. Mayweather, I dont recall you posting on this thread before ? What have you backed mate ..? |

I have just started coming on the Betfair forum. I am a big racing fan, jumps and flat. I am interest in reading what people think. People have different opinions to others which is fine, I just thought I would give mine and join in the conversations from now on.
By:
I am not a massive punter but I bet between £10 and £300 a race. In the Arkle I have had £5 E/W Ghizao at 16/1 and £5 E/W at 8/1. I have also had £5 E/W Finians Rainbow at 10/1. I have had £10 win Time For Rupert in the RSA Chase at 12/1 and £10 win at 8/1.
