Thanks Charkitz for bringing this one up and the ggod news re its finalisation. Handy to know.

No worries. Whilst I'm at it, it should also be noted that if you do challenge them they (and sportsbet) will severely limit your account. I just placed a $20 bet at Sportsbet which was rejected, it never even got referred to a trader.

In that case C I'd ask why it was blocked and, depending on the answer, I'd shoot another email off to the Commission saying that because I've complained it appears I am being penalised.

I'm sure that would be if great interest to them, can't see that being ignored as it kills the whole process if you win only to be banned as a direct result.

Charkitz,

You're most welcome. Glad to see you got the result you were seeking.

I'd like to see you do what SU suggested. That would seem like a very interesting way forward.

NT Gov resolved the issue so they (Sportsbet) decided to penalise you another way. I am quite sure that will meet with a raised eyebrow or two at the NT Government for starters.

CS I rang IASbet and asked them why I could no longer place even a $20 bet on any sports. They said that their traders had made the decision on a 'risk management' basis. Despite never actually winning one bet with them Laugh

I'm not sure if contacting the NT Government would achieve much as technically they are within their rights to restrict me. Even if it is bullshit.

Are they within their rights to advertise a price and then refuse to take a reasonable bet at that price?
There's something wrong with an industry that is this unregulated. Sure, we have the NT government, but I don't want to be contacting them every day for what amounts to everyday practices, right or wrong.

Yes they are within their rights. And are they within their rights to advertise a price and when someone goes to place a bet at that price they reject the bet and bring their prices in immediately? Yes they are. Sad but true.

If everyone that's had their accounts restricted contacted the NT Government then they'd have a fulltime job dealing with these complaints alone.

"They said that their traders had made the decision on a 'risk management' basis. Despite never actually winning one bet with them "

I'd definately make that post to the NT commission

(a) the only conclusion from that is that you HAVE been barred for disputing and/or

(b) an alert to the commission that this sort of mealy crap banning behaviour is going on even if unrelated to your complaint.

to me it would be interesting to see what the response is from both parties. It may be helpful to a number of people here that allege they have been banned. I realise that others have allegedlu been banned on a purely commercial decision base with thus no comeback but you have a little wedge here that your ban has, perhaps, a hidden agenda, so the response of "commercial decision" may not wash with the commission especially with "no bets".

The mythical "man in the street", not knowing how these organisations seemingly dodge certain customers, would conclude "victimised" just about certainly IMHO.

Is the gaming commission seemingly ignoring this behaviour from the corporates or will they be "the man in the street"?

Today I contacted Peter Costa at Puntlane. I asked him for 2 bets, one for a loss of 3000 and the other for a loss of 2500.
He accepted both bets gleefully and asked if I wanted anything else.
I wonder why I bother with corps at all. During the week I requested a bet with Betstar for a loss to them of 2100. They counter offered me 500.
Just a minute ago I requested a bet from Sportsbet for a loss to them of 1300, they offered me 650 and when I declined they trimmed the price 3 points.

As the thread title says, R.I.P.

i really dont understand their thinking..................yesterday i went to have a bet on the chiefs minus 6.5 @1.92 with sportsbet, the max bet i could have was 326$......... now they left the same betting up until game time, so this has to tell me that they wanted to lay that outcome, however after trying again to back it i was given nothing, this just doesnt compute, does it?

Had the same thing, Loggy.

IAS offering 13/1 on one option, I tried to have 100 on it, they declined, offered me 25 and then trimmed 3 points.
An hour later it was back up to 13/1. What does that mean? They want to lay it but they don't want me to get it?
Bunch of fcking beaureaucrats. I hope they all rot in hell.
Costa was sports betting, 1 was AFL and the other NRL. Seems like a real nice fella too. He doesnt offer much, but what he does offer he will take a decent bet on.
I hope he continues to thrive. A guy of real integrity.

Mr Roller, the simple explanation for that is this, you're obviously restricted with them, they didn't want to wind the price in because a winning player backed it, then all their "good" customers can't get the price.

The difference is they don't mind their good customers backing a winner, as the money will be lost back to them, but thats not the case with a winning punter

does anyone know the criteria for being restricted by the corps?
or what sort of software is being used?
i have always thought that if you knew how the restrictions were
put in place then you are at least some way avoiding being
restricted.

aachen,

Repeatedly hit their overs for big money until they get sick of paying out cos they're too stupid to know how to accurately price sporting events.
Then take out big chunks of money until they notice.

Then you'll get restricted to $0.25 bets until you quit.

yes but is it the size of bet?
or
or my profit a)per race b)cumulative c) shorteners?

or do they just guess?
By:
CrazySnake
When: 06 Aug 12 03:41
I suspect it's a combination of things, but in my case I hit their overs a lot and I reckon they have software to pick up on that trend.
I am just guessing, but that's how it seems to me.
By:

so you get a bowler and keep under their overs?

if that makes sense?

OMG, just tried to have $150 on Parra -12.5 at 6.75 with Sportsbet, rejected without even a counter offer.
That's an all time low for these fckers.
They spend millions in advertising to entice morons but won't even give me a bet to lose $1k.

Pathetic, simply pathetic.

I watch After The Bounce most weeks & they have a segment detailing out of the ordinary winning bets each week, for example this week there were these successful bets -

- @120 @ $29 Geelong 1-2pt winning margin - $3480 collect
- $1000 @ $10 GWS 1-39pt win - $10000 collect
- $1000 @ $15 Freo 40+ - $15000 collect
- $20 @ $201 Rich-WCE high low double - $4020 collect

I wonder who these 'lucky' punters are?...friends of the family mayhapConfused

write a letter snake, to NT racing tell them that corps should have minimum bet limits in place like race tracks
