Yeah Dos,

Seems crazy to me. That just doesnt qualify as a bookmaker in my estimation. The industry might be changing, but if you can't take 100 at 2.90 from anyone that constitutes something else. I'd like to tell you what I think it is instead but the profanity filter will block it.

Thought it would be a good idea to offer a different option, given the reluctance of the local industry to offer anything of value.
Sadly, for you horse punters these guys specialise in sports.

No I don't work for them, but Pinnacle is the best in the world. Here's a grab from their website:

Winners Welcome - We Don't Restrict Successful Players

At Pinnacle Sports, unlike traditional bookmakers, winners are welcome. Why is this? Because our unique low margin approach is reliant on sharp players helping to shape markets, and bring volume. In combination with the exceptional expertise of our oddsmakers, consistent winners help us to offer the best odds in the industry.

Why We Welcome Successful Players
Very much like a wholesale grocery retailer in the style of Walmart or Tesco, our success derives from the economy of scale that a high volume of bets generates. This approach means that we aren’t in any way selective about the bets we take, so unlike most online bookmakers winners are welcome!

Traditional Sign Up Incentives Are A False Economy
Many online bookmakers offer enticing sign up incentives, like free bets and deposit bonuses. These are a false economy as the devil is in the detail - including prohibitive term and conditions - but equally important for bettors to understand is that most online bookmakers have restrictive practices when it comes to players who demonstrate the ability to be profitable in the long term.

What Happens To Successful Players Elsewhere?
If you are a consistently profitable player at traditional bookmakers you will find your stakes limited, or in some cases your account closed. Clearly everyone who bets aspires to be profitable, so there is a huge disincentive to opening an account with a bookmaker that operates this policy, but crucially you won’t find this advertised alongside the bonuses and free bets.

We are clear, winners are welcome, and our high limits apply equally to all customers, so open an account now to take advantage!

They have massive restrictions on betting on Australian sports. American sports are a different story.

Also they only offer head to head and one line market on most Aus sports. Think they also offer over/under on the rugby matches but overall they have a terrible range of markets. Overrated IMO.

They do restrict wagers, but you know well in advance what those restrictions will be and they apply to everyone equally, not just to winners.
On US sports their restrictions on spreads are often 50K.

Charkitz,

It really depends what you bet on. I absolutely love 'em.
They offer margin on Aussie Rules and NRL. The limits are quite low.

in assessing a horse or dog race.
i sense that the corps don't want people
bet on horses or dogs.

"dotcom" Dean Shannon (who sponsored the 2001 "Toast" InterDom) and two other geniuses from Brisbane got in early when internet porn exploded with a program to process payments to porn sites and made mega millions.....the other two blokes didn't fare so well....one was a walking headline with his outrageous spending and subsequent bankruptcy....the other was jailed for detaining and torturing a guy who tried to rob him......hats off to Mr Shannon as he is the king of the "Ready To Run" sales in NZ and for actually surviving the bad karma that must come from fleecing millions of desperate w@nkers

I seem to recall IAS offering the same guarantee of "Winners and high rollers welcome", along with their CANBET spinoff for Australia and CANBET UK.  Still didn't stop them cutting me off.
And no, I don't even believe I was in front with them, if I was certainly not much.  They just didn't like when I bet a horse with them if they were offering better odds than I could get elsewhere.  Ummm..  Isn't that the point of betting?

STS.  As for sports betting with lower margins, I am not so sure.  Due to the higher volume bet it would suggest that the simple supply/demand would keep margins lower restricting the value offered, but sometimes they all offer prices that cannot be believed.
Will give you 2 examples.
Big bash last year, was innings change, and they were offering 6.20 about the team due in to bat.  All of them.  There was nowhere in the country offering under 6.00.  I posted on here about it as I had them closer to 1.20 to chase, which of course is the opposite price.  But they didn't have the prices the wrong way around by mistake, that was their opinion, and that on BF too.
Now this is no claim that I am a big market pricer or anything, but this was a pure standout bet that could not possibly be right.  As expected, they won the game with about 5 overs to spare and I think 6-7 wickets in hand.
Second example.
North Melbourne vs Carlton.  It was unanimous across this forum that North were ridiculous value, and that price held up all week.  Takes so much more money being bet on sports to change their books, they seem more opinion based and I believe are much more prepared to gamble.  No doubt they on average are still pretty right, but to the smart punter, there are opportunites often that come up to get set pretty well with value, and of course times when they offer you a price that is truly remarkable that you can't help going in big on them.

Now that is 2 examples.  One where I felt they were so far wrong it would send them out of business, and the other I can't recall seeing anybody that didn't think North were massive value.  Of course you also get others where people have opposing views, but there is always value to be had, and the simple fact that it is much easier to get set on sports than it is on horse racing, suggests that even if you can't achieve a higher ROI than somebody on the GGs, that you are more than likely betting a much higher turnover.

For mine, betting on horses in this country is near impossible.  At least getting a consistant bet amount, at fixed odds, not on BF.  But betting with those same bookmakers on sports instead, and there are very often not even an eyebrow raised.  The same mob that cut me off after 3 bets on horses, and when asked who was requesting the bet on sports, happy to take it.

But don't buy into all this "winners welcome" crap, IAS didn't just cut me off from horse racing, they rang me up to cut me off sports as well.
As for Centrebet, I have no idea how people are getting set with them.  They cut me off years ago, after years of up to 60 second egg timers considering taking my bet.
AFAIK Sportingbet are the best bookmaker in the country for sports, and worst for racing.
As for the rest, none of them really hold a candle to them.  Although, haven't had dealings with a couple of the ones snake mentioned, which I am looking into now.

I have had big arguments with them.  Took advantage of their 20% highroller new account bonus and about 10% into my turnover requirements was cut back to 20 dollar bets, even though I somehow had to turnover 35k before I could make a withdrawal.

Bunch of jokers the lot of them.

from the mark read website uhhh

Mark stood down as Chairman of IAS in 2004 in accordance with continuous improvement in the Company's corporate government practices, but remained as Managing Director until the sale of IAS in 2009.

In May of 2009, IAS sold its International businesses and the right to further develop and use its intellectual property rights to Yin Khing Investments Limited, who subsequently on-licensed the right to use and develop the intellectual property rights to Sporting Data. Sporting Data continues to leverage the global alliances established by Mark, and provides technological and risk management services to key international operators.

In October 2009, IAS was sold to Paddy Power Plc Australian subsidiary, Sportsbet. At the time of sale, IAS was forecasting annual turnover in excess of $1.3 billion.

BJT, May 2009 according to google search.

I bet with Read for at least 5 years solely on SA trots. I would guess I won at least $10-20k each year, without ever having a problem.
By:
BJT
When: 19 Jul 12 05:58
Well, the problem there would be the obvious one of where you live and if it is at all convenient to get to the track in the first place, or if not, to relocate so you can, just to put a bet on.
As for phone betting with on course bookies, do any of them advertise their odds online or do you need to ring them just to find out what they are offering?
By:

When: 19 Jul 12 06:00
And it goes beyond if you are a winning punter, as even if you aren't, this mob still cuts you off if you aren't one of their biggest losers.  So even if you are purely recreational, it can be hard to get a bet on anywhere but the tabs....
By:
Castiron
When: 19 Jul 12 06:12
If you are happy to take second tote on the trots, you wont have a problem with luxbet.

They split your bet and put it through their TABs and cop the commission. I assume they make a profit doing this, as I have been betting through a mate's account for 6 months without a problem.
By:

By:

When: 19 Jul 12 06:22
If you are good enough, you can win taking second best tote.

No bookie is going to bet best tote on the dogs or trots and survive.

I would have thought you were smart enough, BJT to understand the reason why.
By:
nickw
When: 19 Jul 12 06:25
castiron you say you win every year on the product you are betting on
you sound pretty sure they put your bets back on  whats stopping them putting more on
plus the operators having something for themselves LOL
By:
BJT
When: 19 Jul 12 06:31
Yes.
Apart from that, have you ever bought a car without first looking at the price?  "Got 10k on it at the moment, so I can sell it anywhere between 5k and 30k.  Keen?"

I am plenty smart enough to understand the reasons why fixed odds is king.  And if you are "good enough to win betting second tote", imagine how much more money you would make betting fixed odds.

I was betting with Dynabet, a skin of Betezy for a while, and they were doing exactly that.

They barred me betting through the Dynamic Odds website because I was getting on too late and on multiple horses.

BJT its not as simple as that with dogs and trots
the options are not there

But i would not put my totes bets on with any corp if i had showed a long term profit doing just that
bet straight into the tote pools
By:

When: 19 Jul 12 06:39
BJT unfortunately there is no betting operator willing to bet fixed odds on harness racing in SA.

Centre Bet tried it for while, putting up a market at Globe on a Sat night, five minutes before the jump.

It last for a few months.

I would love to be getting fixed odds. Betfair is my only chance to get fixed odds. You just have to learn to accept the premium charge most weeks.

On a warm summer's eve
On a train bound for nowhere
I met up with the gambler
We were both too tired to sleep
So we took turns a-starin'
Out the window at the darkness
The boredom overtook us, and he began to speak

He said, "Son, I've made my life
Out of readin' people's faces
Knowin' what the cards were
By the way they held their eyes
So if you don't mind my sayin'
I can see you're out of aces
For a taste of your whiskey
I'll give you some advice"

So I handed him my bottle
And he drank down my last swallow
Then he bummed a cigarette
And asked me for a light
And the night got deathly quiet
And his faced lost all expression
He said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy
You gotta learn to play it right

You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
Know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done

Now every gambler knows the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away
And knowin' what to keep
'Cause every hand's a winner
And every hand's a loser
And the best that you can hope for
Is to die in your sleep"

So when he finished speakin'
He turned back for the window
Crushed out his cigarette
And faded off to sleep then somewhere in the darkness
The gambler he broke even,
but in his final words
I found an ace that I could keep

You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done

You've got to know when to hold 'em
(When to hold 'em)
Know when to fold 'em
(When to fold 'em)
Know when to walk away
know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done

You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done

Dos you ignorant fool.  Nobody is claiming to be anything.  The point of all this is that they will bar anybody.

I bet a lot and I have been banned by most.  I have NEVER claimed that is because I am in front, so get your head out of the ****ing sand.

Instead of your little pot shots, why don't you do something silly like, ummm, quote somebody.  Quote anybody you like that is saying they must be the best because they have been banned.  If you doubled your iq points to even just 80, you would realise this thread is about because MOST people are banned from the bookies.  How you can combine people being banned with them suggesting they must be the best is way beyond me.

In fact, there are more people in here saying they are the best and still bet with bookmakers, than there is saying they are the best because they can't.  Reality is, I actually suggested that I wouldn't make money betting second tote and I wouldn't bet without fixed odds.

But take your little potshots mate.  You little keyboard warrior you...  Tough funny bloke I bet, until you step out the front door.

Believe me, they are not at all looking at removing winners, possible winners maybe. I suggest dos dedos that you bet with 365 on Saturday racing on a Thursday with their early markets they put up, only on the condition that you are price sensitive, and take their odds because they are the best amongst the half dozen or so bookies that have prices up by that time these days and see what happens, just as anyone with an ounce of intelligence would do on-course. It does not need to be overly large sums, to be to win $1000, even on longshots, and there is no way they can accuse you of arbitrage betting because it is lucky if there are cents to bet on horses on Betfair on a Thursday for Saturday races. I can assure you you will receive an "exploratory" phonecall from them which will result in them closing your account down because they consider you "uneconomical". This is with two days to go when they have a ridiculous amount of time to make a decent book on any one race.

The other one a few years back was megasports.com.au, that website was unreal.
