I think it's already dead thanks to Phil Smith. Destroyed the race from a proper handicap to a limited one designed for the big owners and trainers. 2 or 3 trainers and owners having 30% or so of the runners.

Road To Riches , is weighted to win . Might not get in though .
St Are , like Aintree
Morning Assembly , looked a non stayer in 2016 but Fahey wants to try again .
Tiger Roll , won nicely this week.
Shantou Flyer , I have called him some names in the past but he could surprise .
Gas Line Boy , is better than ever this year .

The first four are my four favourite horses in training, and I'd love to see them all line up together.

I’m very keen on the following :-

Vintage Clouds 50/1
The last Samuri 20/1
Seeyouatmidnight 33/1
Bellshill 40/1

Only those so far

Bellshill looks too good to be true on it's RSA run but did I hear it's going for the Irish National ?

We may have to adjust our lists. Mala Beach (Elliott) has just sunk one of mine. Seeyouatmidnight is still screaming out as a potential winner to me.

My present shortlist of 3

Seeyouatmidnight

Warriors Tale

I also think Raz de Maree would have a great chance on soft/heavy (yes I know he's 13 but a great run in January). His other Welsh national run doesn't look so bad no either does it?

I have had a rethink too ;

Road To Riches - weighted to win and now should get in .
Childrens List - inexperienced but already has Edwulf's scalp and was giving 6 to Attribution when runner up after a long lay-off . Betbright are ducking him which gives me hope that he will take his chance .
Shantou Flyer - a monkey but could surprise .
Regal Encore - seems to be the forgotten horse . Not badly weighted and in the form of his life .
Gas Line Boy - better than ever this year and could place .
Virgilio - they need to get a run into him soon but he is overpriced at 100/1

Being a bit negative I know and not saying they won't win. 7yr olds never seem to feature although we hear every year "this one is different". Regal Encore has been in the form of it's life before and then runs a stinker. Didn't feature last year either. I had a few quid on Shantou Flyer last year but another one that didn't threaten to win and didn't seem suited. Now the hard part, what is going to win ? I would certainly have Vintage Clouds on my side although I wouldn't put my life on him getting round. If he does nothing will be staying on better. Another one that might have a chance of getting placed is Buywise. A couple of years ago I would have said it would struggle to stay but I think it will run better with Aspell riding it. Maloney always seemed more concerned with just getting round.

What 7 y o ?
Shantou Flyer has changed stables .
By:
Bindaree
When: 25 Mar 18 19:13
Baie Des Iles is 7 and I know Shantou has changed stables but Rebecca Curtis was doing ok last year and as I say I did fancy it but it never really threatened near the business end. It doesn't actually seem to have improved but knowing my luck it will probably win a year too late !!

Personally I don't think it matters how much experience 7 yr olds have, they haven't got the reserves of stamina of older horses otherwise French horses who start chasing at 4 would mop up the national. It seems the same with humans, are there any good 18 yr old marathon runners ?

Ucello Conti , Regal Encore , The Dutchman , Captain Redbeard and Saint Are at prices , Total Recall otherwise .
By:

Difficult to see how Captain Redbeard can possibly beat Gas Line Boy on their running together over the national fences last Dec.
By:

When: 29 Mar 18 13:38
Just to clarify an earlier post whereby I said I had a "few quid on Shantou Flyer" last year. I think I've confused myself as I've never bet a 7 yr old or never will in the GN. I did have it earmarked as a potential candidate when it was an appropriate age. I have only just realised it's only 8 now and with that in mind I certainly wouldn't disregard it on last years running.

ADDED

ALPHA DES OBEAUX 50s

.....this is a class horse raced against all the best in the game , check out his c v hasnt often carried as low as 11 stone. Done the mildmay , pure class.
Mouse knows the score.

Done the Mildmay? Yes finished last of 4 and beaten out of sight  lol
By:
Bindaree
When: 31 Mar 18 23:41
And the reason it hasn't carried less than 11 stone is because it has only contested 2 handicaps and in one ,the Irish National,  it carried 10-12 and was beaten out of sight. Not saying it wont win but will probably need a lot to not finish.

Wow, thanks Bindaree for pointing out to me that it was a 13 year old. How do you find this information out, is it in the paper or something. I must admit I'm a bit new to this game. I thought that all horses that ran in The National were the same age or something. I feel like a proper fool. I seen the 10-7 next to his name, and thought that that meant he was 10 years, 7 months. So embarrassing.

140??? 145??? I don't even know what you're talking about, what do these numbers mean?

It's MY shortlist of 6 Bindaree, not yours. It's a shortlist. It doesn't mean I'm putting the mortgage on these horses, should I decide to bet any of them. Do you know what a shortlist is? What part of this can you not comprehend? You seem to be trolling round every post on The National Forum, giving a dig to each persons selections, cutting about like you're some sort of expert on all things Aintree.

I'm perfectly capable of picking my own selections without your guidance.

Just  2 or 3 more things......

1. Thanks for all your help. It's good to have a Grand National "Guru" holding my hand along the way.

2. Seriously, can you tell me what the 140 & 145 really means?

3. Kindly **** off.
