Hi all,

Pleae use this thread for any discussions for the forthcoming comp.

Unfortunatley it looks like we are starting the comp with one player short as we have lost both Oily Wragg and Celeric.

Welcome to our new member Thai Basil and i am hoping that she will help us retain our crown.

As we have 1 player short we will need to use a wild card each week. Can i suggest we share this between the team members and i will post on hee whose turn it is each week.

I will start the ball rolling this week and hopefully we can get off to great start with some good winners.

Good luck to all and most of all enjoy the comp.

Good luck all.

As regards the wild card I would much prefer to do mine in Cheltenham week if that's okay?

Thanks, as ever I will do my best. The three races I am thinking about at the moment are the Supreme, Turners and Mares' Chase, but that might change. In a pretty good position with my own bets, but several are pretty short now, and I wouldn't want to put shorties up, if I can help it. It's the best four days of the year, and I think from a punting angle it's worth putting the effort in.

1.20 Cheltenham - Workahead EW

I think this rests between Workahead and Kopek Des Bordes. I backed Workahead at a big price and then covered on the favourite after the DRF. I don't think there is much between the maiden hurdle and the Grade 1 win. Workahead looked a very powerful galloper, and very good jumper, in short very straightforward. My biggest concern would be the rider, but this shouldn't a difficult ride, assuming she gets a good early position. I will be very disappointed if it isn't in the three. The downside (for this competition) is the market support, not so long ago it was fourth favourite at 12/1, but could now easily go off second favourite.

Will transfer it over to the other thread later.

thanks DD

For what its worth ive layed the fav in the Supremes as I think its too short in a very competitive race.  Money has come for your seection and is now second fav and looks a good shout for a place.

When you post the wildcard please make sure you put that on the thread.

Ive been studying the form for a bit now and am hoping for another fantastic Cheltenham.

Had a few reverses today with several non runners on Wednesday, but fortunately no actual money lost. James's Gate was probably going to be the wild card, so it will likely be in the Mares'. Golden Ace was a monetary loss, but on the plus side I backed Inothewayurthinkin and Fact To File last April, and at the moment that looks a good bit of foresight. I love the week, it's like four days of Christmas.

Good luck.

Favourite has shortened in the first, and Workahead has eased so hopefully, a better return than it looked yesterday. Fingers crossed for a good start.

Yes, that's racing. Anyone can work out that if he had reproduced his last run against William Munny he would have gone very close to winning, but instead he has finished tailed off. It's never good when you lose 6 lengths before the race has even started on a front runner. They didn't find anything wrong with him.

On a personal note I managed a winning day despite shockers from Workahead, Majborough, Brighterdaysahead and Golden Ace running in the 'wrong race'.

Tomorrow looks very tough. It will look even tougher if Ballyburn gets turned over.

Toss up today. I think Galvin has been given a real chance, but fear the fav.
Selection for the week will be

Unexpected Party - 4.40 Cheltenham 10pt win

6lb higher than last year, but now the positives...
L Hunter has already won off higher this season
Apart from Jazzy, it's a pretty motley crue
Will obvs be primed for this
Feel he has shown more this season is his prep than last year

lets hope he does a Langer Grin

Good luck, it's a race I haven't bet in. I don't think it is a strong renewal either.

Bit concerned about the wild card. I wanted to put up James's Gate, but he wasn't declared, and now Telepathique hasn't been declared on Friday. So one inexplicably bombed out, and two no shows, maybe someone's trying to tell me something?

Bad luck Moose, I wrongly assumed you had gone each-way.

I had a small winning day thanks to backing Marine Nationale at a big price in January. Latenightpass landed an each-way, but in the end was no match for Stumptown. It's tough again today. I backed Fact To File last April, hoping Mark Walsh can step up this time.

There was a few big prices I could have gone for, but plumped for this one as the Wild Card.

4.40 La Malmason EW

My original bet in this was Springwell Bay, but he goes earlier. I think on her best days this mare is not far off Grade 3 level. Hopefully, this is a going day, and she can travel into it and pick them off in the straight. She has won on her only start at Cheltenham, Flanagan is riding with confidence, and Cromwell is a very good trainer. She is also a half sister to Stage Star. It's a competitive race, but she has plenty going for her at a big price.

Never at the races, jumped really poorly. The price suggested it wasn't fancied.

No good to us, but I had a good day with Act Of Entitlement (if only I had put that one up) and Fact To File who I backed at 18/1 last April. Nice to get your judgement vindicated with that sort of performance. I backed Inothewayurthinkin on the same day. I suppose too much to hope that lightening will strike twice.

Hopefully, we can salvage something this week, but plenty of time left.
