You called it Swaddle. You thought that a mark of 59 was lenient and so it proved. Sounds like you've found an edge with your betting with regards the handicapping of all horses having their first crack in them. Long may it continue for you mate.
As for staking. I complete agree with you on LS betting, it just takes the emotion out of your betting and you can then just get on with the most important part of the job.....finding those value priced winners! ![]() |

Nice one swaddle
![]() ![]() Be nice to chip in with a winner or an EW place as well to be honest, in a team effort you always feel you need to contribute as well otherwise letting the side down Whippin - any horse 5/1-8/1 mark is it better to put it in as an EW selection or a straight up win? |

And swaddle
A lot of research must be done on your part to find those types? if you can make it pay then fair play ![]() |

theres 3 that catch my eye today...dark shot, melgate magic and stone mason.done them all in an e/w patent.will decide later although im inclined to go with SM...the owners have obviously been patient and today could be the day although trainer form is a negative.

Sontaran, I'm a win only kind of bettor but seeing as Swaddle has put us in such a strong position this round, EW betting could be the way to go to inch further clear of the chasing pack.
GL this week chaps, lets bring that round 2 winners trophy home...it will look rather nice on team Shrewdies mantelpiece. ![]() Chavman is firing the first shot for the team today, GL with that one. |

By:
Yes, good luck Chav, still considering Little Ted in the 3.30 myself, will keep looking.

Really liked one at the Abbot this evening but the horse could only manage a 2nd place.
GL to those still to play this week. |

Just found one too good on the day WP,getting closer.
Busy all week at the moment,be friday/sat for next dart.Good looking entries both days, way too many to sift through at this stage. GL Everyone. |

Just checked and have seen we're top in this round by a decent margin thanks to the previous hits by others so
Cat Royale EW shout at 10s I know its not the best type of race to get involved in but the horse has been knocking on the door past 2 starts round here (Wolverhampton) and think the run at Bath last time out was just a prep run after time off the track. And the jockey takes 3 off as well which is a plus. |
|
By:
Aye to build on the previous comment..."its not the best race to be involved in" - I think I have one of those races today, 2PM Bath ALBA DEL SOLE, I fancy it but expect a trappy race for obvious reasons. For comp purposes playing EW in that race is betting suicide using bookmaker SP and then add to this the fact we are top and probably only need a few more points...maybe! I'll try and stick something a bit shorter I fancy up later in the week.

By:
Afters all, good luck with that one ItsMeSwaddle, bad news is that I was considering that one as well! Torn between For Three and Calvanist in the 6.30 Hexham, maybe I'll wait for another day if I cant decide.
Brilliant pick Chavman, well done inded, cracking price. |

Interesting shout Sontaran.
Course and distance look fine, not too much pace looking at this lot. Should be able to get over from that stall position, has done in the past. Two questions are ; Headgear ? Does he get the noseband back on with the pieces. Is the 9 day turnaround enough, if he was undercooked for prep. Quirky individual, talented enough at his level, the 3 yr olds muddy the water somewhat. GL whatever you decide, open looking contest. |
|
By:
Aye noc
The pace angle made me go with it in that as you say should get across, the only concern is if it doesn't get across from that draw its stuck out wide and needs to tuck in Gets across settles in front its all good |

Calvanist, dillied and dallied then didnt put it up. |

By:
just put up Happy Romance 3.10 Salisbury 10pts win

Nice one Stu. That tidy winner has helped the team power 2 lengths clear inside the final furlong and our IR price has just hit 1.44
![]() Been there Plat! |

WD stu......won well.

By:
Well Done Stu ..... Did that really well.
It,s a tricky one Plat, your time will come. "Not today" would be my assessment Sontaran, keep an eye out for him in the near future. Plenty can happen WP,one decent hit can change things, need to pull my finger out. |

Afternoon, or good morning to you in the uk. Having a go today I think rather than wait until tomorrow and be forced to make a selection, I'm choosing from - currently under scrutiny Labeeb in the 3.40, like the wfa allowance here or either Operatic Export/Miss M in the first at Sedgefield two trainers with good records at the course and I do think the former would have been a lot coser in his race lto but for a blunder two out (2nd and 5th have won next time out) on the other hand Miss M has looked good in her two wins! Decisions, decisions.

I am putting this up on all team threads to hopefully get your agreement to a scoring change, mid-competition, something I don't like doing but I think in this case it warrants it.
The scoring method I use gives back 10pts stake to winners, and doesn't take it off losers, so it makes no difference to winning Win or EW selections. Where the selection is placed, I have been only giving back the 5pts place part of the stake, so the 5pts win stake is deducted but really shouldn't be. So for example Current scoring 1/4 winner gets 12.50 (2.50 profit plus 10pts stake back) 6/1 placed at quarter odds gets 12.50 (7.50 profit plus 5pts stake back) Proposed scoring 1/4 winner gets 12.50 (2.50 profit plus 10pts stake back) 6/1 placed at quarter odds gets 17.50 (7.50 profit plus 10pts stake back) There has been a question on why I give the stake back. I wanted to keep the week's scoring baseline at zero rather than work with minuses for losses. So a team with 8 non-selections or losing selections stays on zero rather than -80, it's just tidier in my opinion and makes no material difference to scoring other than the place anomaly. |

By:
Everyone knew the rules at the outset undecided, why change them now.
|
|
By:
Just having a bit of fun, Noc
But with yourself, Swaddle & Plat to come, I'm quietly confident of seeing the R2 winners trophy on team Shrewdies mantelpiece....I mean, I've already made a space for it. ![]() |

Tiger's back in sunny Northumbria, holiday over
![]() |
|
By:
Northumbria in itself a holiday
, unless its Wallsend, I grew up there ![]() Today I have to make a selection and have 3 half fancies. Ive decided on Celsius 155 Ascot EW - Tad stuck in the gates at Bath and then pulled really hard, I thought this would of done for its chances but it stuck on well in lets face it, a poor race. Only beaten a couple of lengths. Today I think the course suits its run style despite its awful record at Ascot overall, a a reduction of 1lb from last effort wont harm. Hopefully it gets held up out the back in there is enough pace in the form of Yimou or Just Glamorous to run late and deliver a challenge. Other selections could of been Teddy Boy 255 Navan, will cut through the pack if runs a decent first half it should be finishing strongly. Another that tempted me first time in a hcap is Mr lauda 7pm Wolves, its Ponte run beaten 6L was a complete no show, anything drawn wide in Ponte sprints struggles to feature, that was the case there. A mark of 63 sadly is only just below where it should be, hence not selecting this one. Goodluck today everyone |
|
By:
Good luck Swad. Change of jockey could do the trick with Celsius, didnt get out the stall properly lto, nice price too
![]() Wallsend? Not many would own up to growing up there It should still be part of Northumberland, cant stand all this Tyne and Wear crap. |
|
By:
Good luck nocturnal and ItsMeSwaddle with yours today. Still deciding here, I would prefer to wait until just before the off to see how the markets speaks but realise that there is a 3.00 cut of time for today so that strategy wont be possible, under scrutiny:
3.45 Bullfinch - impressive turn of foot last time, beat a 79 rated horse giving it 12lb with ease so a mark of 95 might be lenient and a 3lb claimer on as well. 4.10 Young Wolf - I'm sure Jojno will have worked on his jumping at home, won his Nov Ch nicely but didnt jump great, gets in on Handicap Chased debut just 2lb higher than his last winning hurdle mark when still improving, sure to be more to come, being Jonjo's I would like to have seen the market right up to the off but not possible today. 1.20 Monsoon Moon, nothing better than a well backed Gosden newcomer. Pondering..... |
