Yeah, straight win bets is always the sensible way to bet. I've got 3 at York I'm looking at...Lord Glitters (still has a touch of class & goes well at York) Mambo Nights (Will need to be boarding on group class to win this off such a big weight but I think he might just be) Safe Voyage (looked unlucky at Goodwood although I still don't think he would have beat Space Blues he would have been a close 2nd and that's top class form)

WP Tiger
GL with yours Swaddle 3-15 sandown Jean Baptiste 5pts EW Not too much waffle, has his chance in this 0-90 3yr old handicap. Right handed looks to be his thing, travels nicely, knee action suggests this slightly easier ground should be no problem. Debut run as a 2 yr old here was the run I liked, behind two decent Godolphin horses. Trainer needs no introduction, jockey decent strike rate for yard. Drawn 5,has shown before he has early pace if required to get a decent position before the straight. Just the two starts this term should have him spot on today,if he,s dropped out early I will know my fate. |

Looks like we did too much early on and our run petered out for this round. The run will bring us on though and we will strip fitter for it going into round 2.
Your captain will certainly have to come on a good few lbs for the run after an unconvincing display and a 0/2 for the round! Backed my 3 picks to LS and came away with a profit (Safe Voyage almost 11/2 on here) on the day, unfortunately I put the wrong one up as my nap ![]() Thanks to Chav, Stu and Tiger and Noc for keeping the Shrewdie ship sailing through the choppy waters during round 1. GL for round 2 lads. ![]() |

I noticed one of Platinum's previous selections ran a much better race today coming in 2nd at 28/1....typical of the MJ stable!

Echo those thoughts Sontaran.
Forget that top of the list stuff. Chav,Stu and Tiger were head hunted, strike rates already impressive. Early days, sticking with our own methods is the way forward. There should be no blame attached to any of the selections, taking the time to post is more than enough. "Hey Noc,needed a wide screen for your last poke" ......more than acceptable ![]() GL Everyone |

I’ll be having a pop at an e/w shot today.few candidates although initial thoughts are kaloor in the last unless it drifts massively.

kaloor it is,demi sang which smirnoff has put up was the other option but after changing my mind last week to a loser ive stuck with my initial selection

Checking tomorrows racing and trying to keep it to races with less than 12 runners, try and find one with 10 or 9 runners that way there's less bad luck in running nonsense that comes into play , or so I believe anyway

Noc
We can only try our best I'll be the first to admit horse racing is not my number 1 in terms of picking winners, its the hardest sport by a country mile, so much can happen from bad luck in running, horse just not on a going day, the track didn't suit, the going didn't suit etc So much to take into account, we can take everything into account, weight it all up and think we've got a good one only for the horse to miss the break by 10l ![]() |
|
By:
I like to blame the jockey for a poor bet, he/she is an easy one to blame

Not only one 0/2.
Will plug on! |

Morning all. Fugacious has a nice pull in the weights with Lady Boomerang and showed improvement for the heavy going lto second but nicely clear of the rest. A nice thing about being two hours in front is or was the early price, no 9/4 left now thats for sure.Good luck anyone else having a go today.
|
|
By:
Doesn't matter what price you get when it gets stuffed.
|
|
By:
Swaddle has the right idea....just keep plugging on! No joy so far this week with Chav and Tiger's selections but we still have a few more bullets to fire for the week.

Unlucky yesterday Tiger, would have won with a clear run.
I'm putting up Nearly Famous in the 5.00 Lingfield slight drop in class could do the trick, was running on nicely last time which was second race back after a long break, Hollie in the saddle. Was going to go ew but at 4/1 there is no point as nothing to be gained from a place under the competition rules. Fingers crossed. |
|
By:
Just watched the replay of the race....very unlucky there Tiger!
GL with your selection, Platinum. That one looks like its running into form and you'd hope it will be staying on well at the finish. The Moore horse looks the main danger. First run for a almost 5 months LTO over a trip too short but ran OK. Blinkers back on, back up in trip, dropped 2lbs and has form on turf/soft going. |
|
By:
Btw, Plat I can't see your selection on the "Selections" thread? I don't think it will count win/lose if you don't post it on there. You still have 10 minutes to post it.
|
|
By:
Keep Busy in the 3:30 listed sprint at Beverley is my selection for, won in soft ground at hamilton so none fussed about the ground, does well on galloping tracks as ran well at Ascot previously, and its getting weight from the older horses in the race as well and being an improver this could be the one for it
|
|
By:
Morning WP, all my fault yesterday, had second thoughts and decided not to put it up after all, I should have returned to the thread and said so but was out with no internet access. Entirely my fault.
Good luck with Keep Busy SS. |

I thought you might have forgotten to post it so I put it up for you, Platinum.
No, worries, you can use mine. Come on this thread and let me know what your pick is and I will post it for you.GL Sontaran! |

I've put one up today.
Han Solo Burger at Newmarket. Been in great form this season and his last run was another good effort in a better race than this one last week at York. I think he can get back into the winners enclosure tonight on going he will relish. He won this same race last yeah off a 14lb higher mark but that just shows the improvement he's made this season. I still believe he can win off this mark. |
|
By:
Unlucky Whippin that has ran a good race.
Not sure if Redcar is on tomorrow but VIVA VOCE not seen since FEB is my idea of a good bet tomorrow. Its first time in a hcap and 59 is lenient imo. I dont think it should even of bothered with Southwell last time, it looks like it needs to be held up, and Redcar should take some getting tomorrow. |

Yeah, it hit 1/5 IR but just couldn't get the job done. The winner is a nice horse though.
But, can we all ask the betting gods to give our man Nocturnal a break. Its brutal the run he's had with big priced selections coming 2nd this season. And yet again he got touched off this evening.....by a 40/1 rag! Thanks for the place points though, Noc...excellent pick. Keep your chin up lad, it WILL turn. Can I say sorry to Platinum for the mix up with the selections this week. I hope he doesn't mind that I took a shot with my own selection which I was quite strong on. You can have 2 picks next week, Plat. ![]() |

I was in a terrible mood and couldnt be arsed to type when I replied last time.... but wish I could be arsed because...
I was genuinely about to ask thinking my selection would be 8/1ish...is it worth tactically just doing 10 win as 5 each way might have little damage...so it could of been even better, but too lazy! But in all honesty just glad to contribute to the cause...and yeah i did bet it, all of my selections now level staking just purely on the basis it will make profit...too much previous emotional attachment previously led to over and understaking....double stake on one or two a month...that wasnt one of them! Loads of success is coming from trying to exploit 1st time handicap marks....if anyone has any spare time and wants something to target...handicap all new handicap horses yourself and compare them to actual mark and act accordingly. |
