Comment:
Unfortunately 'social engagements' kept me from my office desk and so it ended, as so often this month, with no bets. Two bets would have met my criteria - and both would have made a small profit ... but it was not to be.
Looking back over the month of August the single biggest factor that contributed to the poor profit was the lack of runners that met my criteria. It was as simple as that. Admittedly the 4 days on which I made losses did not help, but, I have been there before and still recovered and made a decent showing. Not so this month - simply due to the lack of bets available to me.
Now £3,5000 tax-free for the month is still worth having but it has put a dent in my forecasts. I now think it will be mid to late October before I hit the £50K mark. I have built in some 'wriggle-room' as I have to allow for the possibility that the lack of selections will continue a while longer. We shall see. Should the number of selections (and their odds!) turn in my favour, then my overall target of £100,000 is still definitely on for this year - just a couple of months later than I anticipated.
So to sum up at this point I would say that this month's showing could be put down to 'seasonal factors' as nothing I am doing at my end has changed.
