well that was glorious - the pesky russian battering the entitled media darling and crowd favourite. where's your backflip now YDSC ?
![]() FWIW I think the Polish lass beats her in the final, but who cares that was a glorious takedown ![]() |

Mensik has been pretty poor/lethargic so far. Had chances in the 1st set but looked defeated after missing them.
By:
been the case in the last 3 rounds for zverev where he could've lost the first set but got away with it and then cruised to victory
By:
The Mensik we saw against Fonseca is nowhere to be seen. Had that turned up he would have taken the 1st and really tested Alex's resolve.
By:
Fatigue IMO AR mostly - tournament's finally got to him.
By:
not over yet. classic mugrev to start playing passively as the winning line approaches. if mensik can somehow nick this set and assuming he has enough gas in the tank this is far from over. how many times has mugrev blown two set leads and been taken to 5
By:
is video stuck, keeps repeating...?
By:
he we go then. mugrev on for another epic collapse
By:
Video in a loop
![]() Fatigue and nerves cost him the 1st 2 sets. |

Back now

No stuck still sorry !

Apart from the infamous covid final v Thiem, Zverev has only ever lost a 2 set lead in a slam on 2 other occasions, couple of years ago at Wimbledon and the Aussie open, one of them was a semi final. If he mugs this he'll probably go down as the biggest bottle job we've seen on tour, to lose to slam semis from 2 sets up and a final to boot. Will come through though as Mensik all round game not enough to upset the odds from here, he is heavily reliant on serve, Alex does have more dynamism to his all round game.

By:
i didnt say lost. i said taken to five which includes losses
By:
I hadn't read your post, seeing Zverev losing the third made me think of 2 set leads he's lost.
By:
its impossible to have any faith in Zverev. as you say hes one of the biggest bottlers already. lose this one and hes out on his own.
By:
Still think Zverev will outlast him here.
By:
If this was Sinner, Alcaraz or even Oldvak the other side of the net, I'd be worried for Alex, but he should really be coming through this, this is his slam to lose, if he doesn't win here he'll never win one. Probably the best ATP player I've seen not to win a major. Kyrios and Monfils the next cabs of the rank in terms of talents, unfortunately both complete head cases with no consistency or real drive to succeed.
By:
edy didn't think Monfils was talented though, just someone who liked diving into the advertising hoardings for the cameras
![]() |
By:
monfils was a total waste of talent. could have been a multiple slam winner. the last set against gaston here pretty much summed him up. as if you get bagelled by gaston. proper embarrassing
By:
he is 206 years old though
By:
dont care what age he is. bagelled by gaston. a sentence that says it all.
By:
Cruise control for Zverev now
By:
Nadal was once bagelled by Lukas Lacko, s*** happens

By:
GSM Zverev
By:
forget that. rotten. should be some sort of penalty if youre as good as nadal and get bagelled by lacko
By:
forgot that

sinner is the first player ive ever heard of whose main rival in a tournament wasnt a tennis player. thats how ridiculous it was
By:
He's probably never going to have such a comfortable way to reach a GS final again!

By:
TBF every opponent hear has opened the way for him partly, but he's taken it.
By:
*here even
By:
arnaldi withdraws. surprising as he said he still had gas in the tank

So much for the 'home boy' then! What a time to WD

I know he's Italy just he sounds French

Are we even getting a final on Sunday or will Cobolli get sick too? |
