I would love to know how many fans are actually put off from people going 5-10 seconds over time.

5-10 seconds may not seem like a lot, but over 5 sets it does add up.

Got to laugh at people crying about time delays, surely they are entitled to a breather ffs ??

There's too many factors to take into account for a strict 20 second clock to work.

you are right but its really not a rocket science to recognize a player that is deliberately trying to slow things down

time delays honestly dont bother me, grunting on the other hand does, its pathetic and a touch embarrasing

I will agree with what ciani has said there though people do try and take advantage to slow up play

the controversy of TV's is that more often than not umps tend to give them at key times which creates the majority of arguments imo

As has been said the real problem is reaching the point of enforcing anyway. The biggest offenders are some of the biggest names in the sport. They have a lot of power.

On ATP side, you start enforcing the time rule regularly against Nadal, you will be out of a job quickly.

You get on the wrong side of someone like Nadal, how many big matches is that ruling you out of?

handing one out at 0-0 isn't as annoying for them as one at 30-40

The thing with following time violation rule is enforcing it actually makes for a bad look for the sport anyway. You end up with the player arguing, the crowd whistling, enforcing it is more hassle than it's worth, when the actual time taken doesn't take away from the spectacle.

Agreed, it's the same people that proponent "best of 1 set" games because they don't have enough patience and want to squeeze as much matches through in one day. Absolutely ridiculous

I don't think the majority would answer yes to that question though. I definitely wouldn't. It's not something I notice until it's brought up.

she hasn't looked phased at all during this match, until it got to saving set point, and then she froze up Sad

Ben Rothenberg ‏@BenRothenberg  11s
A baby starts wailing loudly (who brings a baby to tennis?) on Sharapova's set point, and Halep misses a forehand wide. 6-4 Sharapova. #RG14

I don't think it's bad if one of them does it. Don't mind it at all. When however e.g Nadal and Djokovic play a relatively flat match, I get bored out of my mind though because they are both so so so soooooooooooo slow while not offering much in between.

Almost every time I have been some idiot mother had a crying baby with them.
