So who do we blame then? We blame the scoreboard...NOT betfair.
By:
I'm sure the people who bet Levine with bookmakers or on here and didn't trade would find it very fair that bets are voided, when their judgement was spot on

Betfair is providing the platform for all sorts of scammers to operate. And they take a share from the spoils.
By:
They open matches in play that they don't even provide a reliable score for like the bookies do. We're relying on external sources - to bet on them. They've gone greedy beyond comprehension.
By:
why would they have to offer scores in the first place ???
geez |
By:
You'\re aware all the bookies who offer matches have some kind of knowledge of what's going on - a visible feed or a reliable scoring system. Betfair has none. They open random markets just for the sake of making money.
It costs them virtually nothing. |
By:
bookies have a liablity, so it's in their interest, BF doesn't
u'd think that after a couple of years on this forum u would have figured that out. guess not |
By:
i'll be the last to defend BF (Utter K imo) but don't be an idiot.
By:
Omg that is the nice thing about betfair. It is just a market place, not a bookie. They manage the market, and just settle it. If no rules have been broken.

What I don't get is how can Isner be pre match favourite and then be at 2.5 when he was winning a set (according to the scoreboards)
BETFAIR MUST have known he was a set down to offer odds of 2.5. There is no other explanation for it! |

thanks for the insult.
Now, because I don't agree with what you're saying you don't have to insult me. I'm saying that opening in-play markets when they have no knowledge of what's going on is encouraging fraud. Do you understand what I'm saying? We're seeing markets in obscure tournaments with one source of feedback - especially in tennis, being the results of manipulation and fraud ALL THE TIME. |
By:
would u want a butler too to press 'enter' when u make a bet ?
By:
So has anyone heard from betfair?
By:
u want to get rid of BF if u say that.
By:
i didn't insult u btw
i said 'don't be an idiot' just a piece of well meant advice |

Anyone who witnessed the incorrect scoring on the ATP / Befair scoring systems, please can you send me an email. I am compiling a petition to take to both ATP and Betfair in order to void the results on this match. Send to jolyon_2000 at hot mail . com

someone answer these questions please
How can Isner be at 2.5 and a set up WITHOUT anyone/thing to rely on except scoreboards. If Betfair were using the scoreboards surely the odds would have been alot lower than 2.5? Betfair must have known that Isner was actually a set down and should have suspended the game straight away! |

There is no other explanation for it! You really shouldn't be betting here if you don't understand how a betting exchange works. |

By:
It isn't betfair who put the odds on don't be a big **ing idiot...
Can someone rephrase what happened? I can't read the whole last 20ish pages |
By:
Yes, people confuse betfair with a bookie. Of course a bookie would have to void the Isner match. But betfair is just a market place ( with crooks and thieves), and you bet against other people not the house.

if you know, ANSWER it.. don't judge people idiot! |

And betfair doesn't offer the odds, people do

they knew levine had won
they are playing us all for mugs |

Calm down lad. If someone is under the misapprehension that Betfair is a bookie, then they really can't make any informed comments on how they should handle this situation. No one forced you to take odds that were blindingly obviously out of kilter - you chose to do that thinking you'd found some free money. You took the risk, hoping to rip off another punter who wasn't as in the know as you thought you were. It turned out the other punter was actually right and you were wrong. That's what betting is all about - now take your loss and stop whinging about it, because it ain't gonna change. |

By the way, Betandwin and Marathonbet, two betting companies that took live bets on this match, voided all the live bets. I had a misfortune to bet on Vassallo and Isner at betfair, while at marathonbet I would have won the first match and get a void in the second...

I've got sympathy with those that lost money on this match. It's a terrible way to do your dough. Trouble is, this is not the first time this kind of thing has happened. Incorrect scores are often shown on the protennis scoreboard. I can remember a few years back too, I think during the early non-televised rounds of the WTA Proximus Games where the exact same thing happened and the scoring was reversed. Luckily for most on here a Belgium based forumite sounded the alert.
Betfair didn't void on that occasion and I think there is virtually no chance they will on this one either otherwise they open themselves up for a whole load of retrospective claims. |
By:
Still dont know why people think it should be void. Betfair even warns that scoreboards can be inaccurate and wrong. People should be mad at protennislive or whoever manages the scoreboards, but not at Betfair.
By:
Well said johank!
Some people want Betfair to wipe their bum for them. It's really quite unbelievable how many punters don't follow the most basic rule of looking at the market before they bet. |

ilost 250 onmatch but agree its not betfairs fault at all
but do think there should av alook at who won the big money on the game maybe there had somethink to do with the scoreboard |
By:
This match should be void regardless, its a betting exchange or not.
Also bets should be void if anyone retires during the match.its only fair. |

And the moral of the story is 'if its to good to be true....blah blah blah.....But remember where theres losers...theirs winners....And an empty vessel . . hows about. .a bird in the hand :|

anyone had a email reply from betfair?
By:
yes, Rodrigo
wasn't Proximus Games but Gaz de France in Hasselt, Belgium it was a nice but somewhat foolish forumite that warned the forum he's still slightly annoyed he didn't make more out of that ;-) |

This match should be void regardless, its a betting exchange or not. Also bets should be void if anyone retires during the match.its only fair. Why? As I said the rules are making clear and warns people that scoreboards can be inaccurate and that its not Betfairs responsibility. And the retirement rules are also clear, with one set completed the match will stand. Have been stung a couple of times by retirements myself, but thats the risk if you bet on here. If you dont want that risk, than dont bet on here. Nobody forces you to do. |
By:
LOL.
I'd love to know how many of the moaners would have warned the forum if they had been aware of the scoreboard error. ;-) |
By:
iagree mate andi lost thats life its not betfair fault

A lot of people talking cr@p here. Letter of the law of course is its a dodgy scoreboard so not Betfairs fault. However, if they want people to bet on tennis tere are situations they have to say the fairest thing to do is void. The fact is, the information betfair were providing themselves was unreliable. Very poor if betfair don't void and i reckon future liquidity will be affected on small tennis matches if they don't act honourably.
