Mugz.............what was 'his' chatroom name back then? I forget and it's bugging me. Thanks again !

It's true though that there are so many inaccuracies on the protennis scoreboard for anybody to put too much trust in it and this has been going on for years now.

Betting is not supposed to be "fair". If your bet lose because of a wrong scoreboard, then bad luck. But don't expect to get any money back at an open market place. Betfair's job is to offer market, and settle according to their rules. They can't void just because 90 percent of their clients are angry.

Fair play to the only person to notice it and he got vilified for it.

Mugz Bunny 08 Jul 20:34
something wrong with odds
Isner broke and his odds went to 1.6 for the first time
.

Mugz Bunny 08 Jul 20:38
could be that SB has got them mixed up
seen it before

realhalford 08 Jul 20:41
Mugz, you are a mug ... Even mixed up, the odds on Isner shouldn't have been 1.7 -1.8

janko goes home 08 Jul 20:41

realhalford 08 Jul 20:43

Mugz, change the TV channel ... There's the last serie of Bugs Bunny on other channel ... He's more realistic than you, anyway ...

What I don't get is how can Isner be pre match favourite and then be at 2.5 when he was winning a set (according to the scoreboards)
BETFAIR MUST have known he was a set down to offer odds of 2.5. There is no other explanation for it!

Betfair do not 'offer odds' - the few people actually watching the match offered you those odds.
I can see you lost a lot of money on this match, but to be doing so with no idea of how betfair works and without seeing the match with your own eyes....well.

Betfair is a market - right. If this was the stock exchange and prices were misquoted, the market in that equity would be suspeded and trades would be returned. This sets a bad precedent and betfair are now encouraging scammers to rig live feeds. I certainly won't rely on them any more. I have bet on tennis now for 6-7 years and have a healthy profit but not betting on this exchange again.

By:

what do you mean mugz?

(i)what would have happened if it was the bot putting up the wrong prices and the scoreboard was right?

betfair would have been out of pocket

(ii) or if the bf bot was switched on, would the market have moved any differently.

no, there just wouldn't have been any overround books

informa, your stock exchange argument doesnt hold up.
There is only one official score generated from a tennis match - and thats the one from the umpires mouth. That score was correctly quoted throughout the match. Any other replicated scores (ie internet scoreboards, etc) are irrelevant.

Do you think the stock exchange would be suspended because a wrong price was quoted on ceefax??

Actually the prices were misquoted as they were not reflecting market value. It's called a rigged market. They happen allthe time on AIM and small markets which lack liquidity. Nevertheless, if betfair wants to call itself an exchange it should act like one.

BETANDWIN and MARATHONBET voided the bets on this match. Why is Betfair not following suit. There is always the option of moving over to one of the other Betting websites!

If that was the main method of judging a stock price - yes. Ceefax get their scores second hand. What we are talking about here is the MAIN FEED for everyone to bet on. Even the market provider was quoting it.

aren't they just another bookie if they enter are in the market ?
By:

When: 09 Jul 08 11:07
No, the 'main feed' is the match itself, the umpire's announcements of the scores and the scoreboard in the arena.
All other scoreboards are secondary information.
If the umpire was calling the match wrong, fair enough, but he wasnt.

The simple fact is that everyone who was steaming in knew that something was wrong. That's why Isner's odds were attacked so enthusiastically.

At that point, they didn't care if they were screwing someone else over, they just saw signs. Now, they've lost, they are crying like children and stamping their feet.

It's truly a pathetic, unedifying spectacle.

if bwin (formerly known as betandwin) offered this match in-play it must've been another one than the one I use for scoreboards and streams from time to time.

they don't cover Newport live at all. Maybe later this week when eurosport 2 shows some matches, but definately not this match nor any other early newport match).

Voiding all bets, hence only pre-match bets would be..well...kinda unfair to use mild language.

Correct, and anyone who isnt and is placing big sums of money on an event where their only source of information is a seconday internet scoreboard is at risk of losing in this way.

BFs T&Cs clearly state any scoreboard, including the one the provide is subject to inaccuracies and you bet on them at your own risk.

End of.

I'm not saying that at all. Betfair suspends markets where there is obvious manipulation eg Davydenko. This is manipulation where some punters were betting with information that the scoreboard was wrong. That's clear manipulation.

By:

When: 09 Jul 08 11:17
No, betfair never suspendes a market because of manipulation.

You do realise people are betting on a match and not a scoreboard?

What next? Suspend and void everytime there is an injury timeout because the people watching the scoreboard couldnt tell and somebody watching the match pushes the price out 20 ticks?
By:
Unk
When: 09 Jul 08 11:19
The Davy match was voided because in Betfair's opinion the outcome of the match had been pre-determined and therefore not a fair contest to bet upon.

Not the same thing as yesterday's match.

So you only bet at an event do you? You must spend most of your life travelling around then. As i happened I only lost a small amount on this bet but I think the complainers have a point. I am hugely surprised betfair aren't voiding.
