Well he has some form, albeit old. Like I say, I don't know his song too well so it may well be in the mix.

Ruth Lorenzo wins in Spain with what sounds like a very poor song to me

..and Latvia send a song about cakes

...filled with cannabis and sung by grannies? All sounds like utter crap at the moment which will mean either one pops up that stands out and we are into the 6/4 situation or we could have ten 9/1 joint favs...the latter would make a nice change.

Ireland pick their Euro song on Friday, combination of public vote and Jury, all five songs are on the RTE site.
http://www.rte.ie/tv/latelate/eurosong.html Eoghan Quigg, 5/2 will do ok with the public vote imo, probably not so much with the jury Can-linn, 1/1 a real cliché of a Euro song, an awful song with a catchy chorus, Andrew Mann 8/1 pretty boring Laura O'Neill, 4/1 sent me to sleep Patricia Roe, 25/1 very plodding type song I've not had a bet yet, Eggnog will be my bet if I even bother. |

GB will be orgasmic if Eggnog wins

It's looking like a poor year atm GB2. Something decent from the East could be very short

As for Sweden/ Looking at the market, I think Alcazar may have won the vote last night by a distance
![]() |
By:
I suspect the market reaction has been caused more by Alcazar storming to #1 on Swedish Itunes. All the songs are not available on there which was not the case until today.
By:
Now available*, sorry
By:
Songbird only #18, most of those above are from MF. Anton #2, Sanna #3.
By:
I thought the Swedes had taste. The Alcazar song is the type of tripe we like to send
By:
I think it's a great retro song but even if it does smash the televote, the international juries are not gonna go for it. The last time Alcazar did well with juries, they were Swedish-only.
By:
Also as we've seen many times on shows like the Voice and American Idol in particular, performance on iTunes and public votes can give very different results
By:
The money was last night. Was it #1 then? It was 6 or 7 after qualifying and then backed down to under 4 for good money
By:
Yes, they had the biggest chart hit with one of their other entries, and it still only came 3rd.
By:
All the songs were made available at 12am on Itunes. The losing ones were there already, but not the A/C ones or the finalists.
By:
oh right. That might explain the money then

They are not on UK Itunes (yet) as far as I could see.
By:
Ellinore down in 59 but top 4, whereas Linda #10 and 5th last night, so very skewed towards established acts. Which gives me a little hope for Songbird
By:
..and acts that appeal to a younger demographic
By:
Oh yes, of course, but that's why it is a bit of a shock to see Alcazar starting at #1 above Anton and Oscar. Especially as you would have expected the latter 2's teen following to be among the first to snap a copy up.

They'd have been in bed by 12am. The fanboys got a run on them

Ace Wilder the big surprise at #3. It looks to be the only one that appeals to the teens that could make a challenge. I won't be having a cover bet on Yohio now for sure

Or the 2 boybanders

Back up to #8
![]() I'm not sure of the rules. Are they allowed to do tv chat shows? I wonder if she's popped up on the Swedish Alan Titchmarsh show |

#7
![]() I'd written my bet off but with the help of the grans and the juries, who knows.. |

My current views on MF are mostly as follows:
Alcazar look set for a big televote, juries will hammer it. Sanna will do well in the televote, will she do equally as well with juries. I doubt it. The 3 kiddy acts (Ewald, Ace, Oscar) should get a good televote, dunno about juries. Ellen will do well with juries, perhaps less well in the televote. Yohio has the song with the strongest claims of a good performance with both juries and the televote. (He did poorly on itunes last year but still topped the televote, and whilst he did poorly with juries, this song is likely to tick more boxes for them) Helena still has chances and looks likely to be helped by the draw in the final and by juries. Ellen, Yohio and Helena look the best value right now for sure. |
By:
Interesting what you say about Yohio topping the vote last year. I'll have to check out the song. Surely it can't be worse than this years.
I really don't rate it. I can't have Helena either. Sanna has a very similar song, is Swedish and has already shown her votability. Helena might beat Sanna with the juries but has a mountain to climb in the pv. I can even see her missing out in the AC. I reckon Martin Stenmarck has a decent chance of beating her in the vote. Especially with the older 30's. With JEM or maybe Outrigger taking the 2nd place with the help of the under 30's vote I think I'll just stick with my Ellen bet. I'm tempted to cover Ace Wilder, as it's the only other song I like and it's doing surprisingly well on iTunes, so could hoover up most of the under 30 vote |

over 30's and older 30's

Is there some reason as to the shortning odds on Norway when they haven't selected their song yet? Could it be that someone is thinking that with both Sweden and Denmark winning ove the last couple of years that it's likely that another Scandinavian country will win this year.
