Sweden is incredibly old-fashioned and dull, chaps. Struggle to see how it wins a 2014 song contest. A shame there isn't a bit more strength in depth in the Sweden semi as I'd be laying it to even qualify.

call me old fashioned and dull but i like Sweden...if i had a free bet to back either Armenia or Sweden, i'd back Sweden top 4 @1.96, i think that's a safer bet than Armenia to win @1.9
i can't see Sweden winning thou for the obvious reason...Loreen 2012. |

It looks as though Sweden is on the way to winning the OGAE poll vote for this year. Out of 40 OGAE clubs to vote the results of 2 clubs Belarus and Bulgaria are now known and Sweden gets the top mark by both clubs. The top 5 after the votes from the 2 clubs are as follows:
1. Sweden 24 2. U.K. 18 3. Armenia 14 4. Russia 12 == Ukraine 12 Belarus voted: 12 Sweden, 10 Armenia, 8 UK, 7 Ireland, 6 Russia, 5 Ukraine, 4 Switzerland, 3 Germany, 2 Slovenia, 1 Austria. Bulgaria voted: 12 Sweden, 10 UK, 8 Austria, 7 Ukraine, 6 Russia, 5 Belgium, 4 Armenia, 3 Greece, 2 Estonia, 1 Macedonia The OGAE poll has chosen the same winner to the contest 4 times (2007, 2009, 2012 and 2013) out of 7 years since 2006. |

Overall OGAE doesn't have a very good strike rate so I personally think it is a bit of a red herring. I hope it encourages lots of people to back Sweden for the win though so the price drops considerably and it becomes a value lay.

4 winners out of 7

By:
It's not a remotely decent strike rate, bear, given the context of the ones 'OGAE predicted right' - 3 runaway winners that anyone could have guessed - Norway 2009, Sweden 2012 and Denmark last year. It has been way off many times.

Some of us would be happy with a 4/7 strike rate JR

drill down into its results each year, bear, & it's a poor barometer, mainly because ESC fans' opinions often do not extend to the wider public.
|
|
By:
apart from the fact Sweden won it in 2012 and are highly unlikely to win again so soon for this reason alone...i think you have got this one wrong JR...a lay in the semi?...crazy thoughts imo.
|
|
By:
Read my posts, Milan. I said I would be interested in laying it in the final if its price continues to contract, and the weakness of its semi puts me off laying it in the semi.
Do some research on OGAE polls over the year. I'm simply stating facts - their track record overall is poor and it has paid handsomely over the years to go against certain ESC fan favourites which have showed up well in OGAE polling. |

Before my time. Even worse than Hero. Utter dross. It must have been a poor year.
The one constant in recent years is that older/older looking females are overrated in the polls. As are the UK. Bonnie Tyler 5th last year ![]() |

http://www.eurovisioon.ee/eng/bigpoll2014.php It's had loads of songs in the top 7 or even top that have bombed though |

Haba Haba was robbed. Wasn't that the year that the sound was terrible for the 1st few songs? |
|
By:
yep, & they all failed to qualify inc. Albania, Armenia and Turkey - I layed that Turkish song heavily that year (I think you did too), & it's one of the shortest-priced semi songs to bomb out - think it was trading around 1.18…?
