"Will Norway get the votes from the east?"

If they like it.

Many of them gave 12s to Rybak.

Belgium's a bit too much for me. The same song with different lyrics... maybe.

I forgot about that.

Just looking back quickly over the last 2 years it look like there's a difference between the Russian diaspora countries and the rest of East Europe. Although Loreen got a 12 from Russia and Latvia. And even the Russian countries normally gave some marks to something that gets lots 12s in the west

Some very dodgy voting patterns in the Norway final. Lumberjack only won it because of western norway suspiciously big vote.  Be easy to fiddle it on such low numbers.

He got 16,000 votes from the last jury. If he came from that part of the country that the televoters voted in then that would probably explain the huge difference.

mmmmmmmmm big if. Maybe that's where his agent lives. Tells me if he can't hack up on home turf with the big o/r fav he will struggle to win this.

Lumberjack born in Bergen which is in the west. If he needed a regional vote to win not surprised at the price drift.

Ahh the home town support.

Can someone explain to me - as I have been out of the loop because of Cheltenham - how the Germans can be 18 on here before their final and 90+ after it? I just don't get it. One of the big nations. Have they suddenly morphed into the UK all of a sudden? It genuinely makes no sense
By:

When: 16 Mar 14 19:29
They were 18 because it was expected that one of the favs would win particulalry Lena Mk II. When the wildcard act turned them over with a less than inspiring song the market reacted accordingly. I for one had them green on their potential.
By:

When: 16 Mar 14 19:31
yeah but 90+ is some overreaction for a massive nation. They were always in the mid-20s last year despite a fairly average song

Make that 150.France Finland and Estonia etc are all longer odds and Greece 95s. When you have a naff song the size of your nationhood becomes irrelevant.  Size isn't always important.

So why on earth did the Germans select it then? For a laugh?

Specials betting rarely makes sense. I think this is the second time you`ve mentioned the German price, but I don`t see anything unusual in it. Many other songs have had mad price swings.  When playing markets with so few (relevant) formlines, and so many variables, madness duly ensues.
Slightly more technical is the fact that a seemingly dramatic price change from 18 to 80 actually only represents a 4% increase in percentage-of-the-book terms. Mindblowingly strange, that`s less change than an even money shot drifting to 11/10!

Should say `90`, not `80`, but the point`s still valid.

FFS!!! Also should have said `6/5`, not `11/10` Even so...

They selected it because the three girls are very personable and half decent performers and the song is reasonably clapalongable plus by winning the wildcard they already showed they had a pv and the GGP knew them. Throw in the fact that the favs were underwhelming and it was hardly a shock. In fact with decent liquidity there was money to be had on the night.

Yeah you the master of ESC. I have missed the boat so may give it a miss and just let my smallish greens/reds run for fun.  Cheesed off with Sweeden as my methodology has her doing as well as Erik but only dabbled at 15s.
