Surely if they wanted to undermine Ace they would have put her somewhere like 2nd slot, and certainly not last.
Whereas a lot of people may collate public votes only one, or a few, know the result. If there is no jury vote and one act is way ahead in the public vote the collators may have a good idea even without knowing the final result. But this wasn’t the case this time. Jury: Sanna 90; Ace 97. Televote: Sanna 122; Ace 113 So there may have been insiders but the evidence isn’t strong. I was competing to lay Ace after the jury vote so I imagine many other honest gamblers must have been. |

Just looked back, only about 6K was matched in total in the final.
2K was offered on Ace at 1.45 and 1.5, where she was a lay, as the top 2 should have both been about evens. Especially a lay for those who had her their biggest green. I personally had 500 matched at mostly 1.44. I didn’t record the market information with all the amounts matched (the pop up which has the graph on the left). Please post it if anybody has it. |

The Swede if you are really a Swede would you have Anglicised Sanna's name?

I think Bjorkman must have been confident Ace couldn't win even from the pimp slot but gave her that to contrive a close finish. For Sanna to overtake her by just enough to win looked very suspicious. I appreciate some honest BF punters were looking to lay off at 1.5 to lock in a profit but perceived wisdom was Ace would be behind after the jury vote but her superior televote, from the pimp slot, could see her overhaul Sanna.
For her to win the televote, she should have then been about a 1.2 shot imo to win. But was available to back on here above Evens still and decent amounts. That either suggests insiders to me or some very naive punters offering inflated odds. |

Ace had all the supposed momentum going into last night's final, topping the Swedish chart & unprecedented downloads of her track on Spotify. So there was strong reason to believe, with the pimp slot, she would win the televote comfortably. Yes, there was that small window for voters after the jury vote was revealed but even so, the odds were wrong on Ace which made me suspicious.

Don`t know how closely you were watching the market, jr, but the amount of money wanting to back Ace at short prices left me believing it was straight enough.
Or are you saying the vote itself was `manipulated`? |
|
By:
As the result was really close I don't think there was anything iffy in the market.
I read on esctips mention of a possible recount during the show, as it was so close. Therefore Ace would have been a no brainer lay for the Swedish speakers. Probably some iffy jury scoring tho. |

I think the vote itself is highly suspicious, tim. Both the jury vote & the televote. Maximum suspense, & ideal winner for SVT imho.

As for the main contest. I agree Henry that the presentation of the Lithuanian song isn't great. I love the song though. I must have played a dozen or so times last night. A touch of Grace Jones about it.
I like this version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R02D1RtY7MU Like Andrius last year I can see plenty of people hating it though and more of a play to qualify and top 10. Macedonia another one I liked but she's an awful and odd looking performer |

The love for Norway continues to grow, now between 5/2 and 13/5 to back while all others continue to drift outwards to over 13/1. Another predictable winner and possibly odds on fav before final night this year?
|
|
By:
I've started laying now. It's a good song but as Henry says in the other thread, it has the feel of one of those song that can often perform below expectations at Eurovision.
The winner tends to be upbeat |

Not sure Norway lends itself to repeated listens. Looks like some quality in the German ones...how do two movie soundtrack songs end up in the ESC?
|
|
By:
Funny you should say that about Norway GB2. I was really impressed the 1st time I heard it. Last night was only the 2nd time and I was far less impressed.
I also agree Germany look strong. Also hoping for something decent from the usual suspects like Greece, Armenia, Azer, Russia, etc |

The German Dubliners could be this year's Russian Grannies

Yes. She's the one I'm hoping wins. There will never be another Lena though

Here is the live peformance of Silent Storm just performed in Norway's third semi-final which has now won the semi to be in the grandfinal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYAfB1P28ec This is the hot favourite to win in Norway and Norways odds shortening to be favourite to win the actual Eurovision Contest. Odds on Norway winning now shortened again to 9/4.

Laying even more after seeing that. He's not a looker

I'm not getting it. Why all the love for Norway?
|

By:
Bit of a Mad World thing about it. Backers are assuming its understated nature won't get lost in the mix. Will get the "amateur" hype as I think it was his first ever public performance? With some big players still to play their cards odds look skimpy to me.
|
|
By:
Also much more marmite than previous winners though ghat didnt stop the grannies nearly nicking it.

He needs to work on the performance. He seems bored.
Here's another fatty who could well win the Belgian selection: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEqjXBH9ahE Splendid or horrific? He can certainly sing. |

Apparently he had much of the audience in tears.

The grannies were fun though Gb2. Understated and downbeat might appeal to me, as this song does, but it doesn't have a great record at Eurovision.
As you say. Very Gary Jules - Mad World |

By:
He might struggle to grab the 'Attention' of the audience

Just watched the Belgian lad. I bet Cowell has signed him already

the azzy bazzies have yet to show their hand...however their performer is a marvellous singer.
I'm on. |
|
By:
Yes she's a good performer but it all depends on the song. In their final her covers were mostly good but the original song was poor iirc. In fact I can't remember it, it didn't leave an impression, but they don't have to use it for ESC.

Do people still fall for the media bias and need to see things in black and white? I guess the answer is obviously yes.
