Yep thats the downside Cider, buts its only for 40 mins with the cube following it. In a 3 hour 15 minutes show I'm hoping it wont dent it too much

In 2011 when esc got an av of 9.54m Bgt started at 8pm
By:
Probably a fair amount will just tune in for the voting. The UK isn't really a draw, and on quite early too. I suspect bgt will hurt it more than a football friendly, good luck tho.

Spectacular piece of fence sitting by Daniel this year on Sofabet
Iceland top 10 the only bet |

OT, a cool clip ![]() |

No offence to them but the main chaps from Entertainment Odds, Sofabet and Esctips appear to have spent much time in each others company this year. I'm wondering if theres an element of 'group confusion' going on and too much similarity to their recommendations over the course of the week
By:
If they all make a better ROI than me I'll give thenm a hat tip later

By:
To be fair to Daniel, he does often go in (very) hard on just 1 or 2 bets but I do think there is an element of group think between the 3 of them as you would expect given they have watched most of the action together. I dunno how the accreditation system works, but maybe we should start a website and try and get one for next year lol. :)

On the subject of viewing figures we had a record low of 5.54m in 2010 and a rather more impressive 7.8m in 2009.
Put simply, when the BBC made a real effort with ALW and Jade Ewen the results were big viewing figures and a decent result in the comp. Nuff said. Three acts that would clean up if entered:- One Direction Elton John George Michael Maybe the last two are unrealistic but other countries manage to land their equivalent acts, so why not. |

There views do appear to have converged this year Bex.
I guess it's understandable. fwiw I thought the Italian performance was great last night and Ukraine is still pants. A couple of nice pics from twitter. I have not followed Eurovision closely this year, I read of a new voting system this year, is it of the way jury votes and televotes are combined?
By:
Juries and the public vote ranks them 1-26 this year rather than 1-10 as previously.
Then the 2 are combined. |
By:
ok thanks. seems a pretty subtle change
By:
Do we know the voting order yet?
By:

1) San Marino 2) Sweden 3) Albania 4) Netherlands 5) Austria 6) United Kingdom 7) Israel 8) Serbia 9) Ukraine 10) Hungary 11) Romania 12) Moldova 13) Azerbaijan 14) Norway 15) Armenia 16) Italy 17) Finland 18) Spain 19) Belarus 20) Latvia 21) Bulgaria 22) Belgium 23) Russia 24) Malta 25) Estonia 26) Germany 27) Iceland 28) France 29) Greece 30) Ireland 31) Denmark 32) Montenegro 33) Slovenia 34) Georgia 35) F.Y.R. Denmark starting to drift?
By:
There does seem to be a slight drift.
RMB must be running out of money ![]() |
By:
Just can't see Denmark winning this 55 times out of 100. Can't see it winning 10 times out of 100 ffs, but could really suffer if it does!
By:
Finland appear to have become sixth favourite in the outright market. I've layed all of my green out of it.
By:
Nor me seebee. I don't doubt it will do well in the pv, but I can see half a dozen or more beatng it in the jury vote
By:
Also if they want to hide the winner early. Why are 4 of the 1st 6 countries to vote western european
By:
especially sweden in 2nd who normally give votes to norway and denmark
By:
Yes, they've said they want to keep it as exciting as poss haven't they? So in theory, they don't want a runaway winner in votes from the off. Suggests Denmark not as good as odds would leave you to believe.
By:
im far too late to the party this year. listened to denmark, its decent. norway, less so. now on sweden. umm. utter fluff. too many songs, this is gonna take forever...
By:
The winner should drift early if the algorithm is effective?
Casuals also must come on think wtf is something odds-on in this contest and judge Denmark as a cheap lay. |
By:
Russia is the one with no real friends in the 1st 6 to vote, then from 7 onwards........
By:
sideshowbob - you'd be better off waiting for the contest now I doubt there will be many big moves ;-)
By:
the voting order is determined from the results of last nights jury votes and arranged to make it exciting in running no doubt to have a neck and neck race between 2 or more countries.
By:
..also not many Western friendly countries in the final 9....and one of the few is Denmark itself
By:
Just to reiterate, interpretations of what makes for an exciting voting segment vary. One theory is it would be exciting to have the lead keep changing, which could mean that a country starts well, tails off, rebounds, tails off again before surging again at finish.
By:
Not just from jury votes, but televotes in the semis, and historic voting patterns. How much influence is given to the latter 2 I am not sure as in the case of Italy smashing the jury vote, the aim of the voting order appeared to be to hide this for as long as possible.
By:
so denmark could lead then be overtaken and to take the lead again to be overtaken and to take the lead etc.
By:
yeah im far too late, but im looking at maybe a top 10 lay or back. last year i had a few late backs. cant remember who but i backed someone around 4.0 for a top 10, they went odds on went it came on tv. dont think it made the top 10 though i may be wrong cos i greened out anyway.
By:
True pk. A prospective runaway winner we'd expect to start off slowly though.
