My stats have Belgium and Italy, at the moment, in joint 5th place.

Italy & Azer's chances are highly rated by some anyway.

Belgium and Iceland are fancied by many for top 10 places.

Norway is the one that is very divisive.  I, like many others on here think it will badly underperform.  Any stats for Norway, must be badly screwed anyway as the vast majority of their votes in the last few years came for Fairytale.  They have bombed most other years.

Norway are expected - by the odds - to come 2nd so good luck if you think they will outperform that.

I think what I may have to do is go back further, to when the Netherlands competed before, locate the countries that voted for them, and of those countries, add in votes for the Netherlands for those who do not have a strong diaspora influence.

I have Norway getting a LOT of votes, but not many top votes.

In fact, I have done about 19 countries votes now, and I have just 5 of them not giving Norway points.
By:

but none of them giving 10/12 pts.

Considering only 3 countries voted for Norway in the final last year, they badly failed to qualify the year before with a song that was once 2nd favourite, and only 9 countries voted for them in 2010, your stats continue to baffle me.

Plenty didn't give Norway any pts last year.

They are influenced by the winning song from previously of course.

ROOOOOOOOOOOOMANIA IS THE dark horse you know. Produced a thoroughly professiomal performance in semi2 despite his earphones coming loose at the start of his song. Did other people notice how cool calm relaxed and CONFIDENT Cezar looked considering that very tricky moment. It could have put a quick end to his prospects of a fairly decent finish in the final. It clearly impressed many viewers anyway and he is there now. Cezar along with Anouk have the two most diverse tunes in the final for me, and I believe both can make their presence felt - Neth a top 4 and Romania a top ten or better !!!!!!!!!!!! We can dream my friends. But remember Cezar may be set to shine on the big stage on Saturday.. The classiest for me of the remainder is the drifting Russia who I am hoping for top 4 finish. As for the winner my head is shouting Denmark but I cant stand it, while the same applies to the Norwegian lady. Georgia is screa, imh and shouting while Gravity should struggle to hit the ground running on this occasion. Germany looks interesting since it is the dance queen Cascada who may do another Saade and make the frame.Cannot entirely rule out UK either for a top tenner.

and this song is not good, it is just the uniqueness of the singer.

I win every year on it pk. And I do it in a similar way, just this year in more detail. Won on the semi finals with Lithuania @ 4s to qualify and then Armenia and Romania yesterday.

did u FIVE LEAVES Ssee the sound problem that Cezar had near the start on Thursday night most others would have crumbled as we have seen in the past but he was totally unmoved and untroubled. Im sure the juries were very impressed with that bit of trickery- never mind the breaking of glass boxes mate. Go have a look.

I'm sure you do Srich, and there's certainly a lot of markets where money can be made.  I just advise a little caution on the emphasis you place on the value of your specific set of stats.

Taking Norway as an example, Fairytale completely screws the data.  You would be better looking at the year maybe where they came 5th with Hold On Be Strong for more of an idea of their true voting potential with a well thought of song.

There's nothing unique enough in this tournament like that - Hungary and Malta are the best songs in that regard, but really, they needed to be for more popular countries than that.

Even with an astounding song, I would have trouble thinking Hungary could win.

When: 17 May 13 23:06
Yep, I think Romania could nick a top 10 finish (but will ultimately miss out), but your bet of Anouk for top 4 has more chances for me.  It's certainly in the frame for me.

I'm not discussing stats on this thread tonight anymore as we are taking the core debate about this year's contest off on too much of a tangent.

And yes, I thought Cezar did very well Sunshine. It came across very well on TV. Much better than it did in the rehearsal videos filmed in the arena

I totally agree FIVE LEAVES. I had been thinking to myself prior to Thursday that he would need to improve appreciably on what he had shown in his previous few outings - and thank g-d he did. He managed to control his great voice fantastically well in a way that he would not come over as shrieking screaming or straining as for example Ukraine does. I am hoping and praying. All the best to you my friend.
