Looked at quite a few of those myself - didn't seem to have Denmark clear, but could be wrong as not done full stats on it.

Well its no wonder that Denmark's price is shortening being as its the type of song to get the fans in a frenzy. I wouldn't be surpised to see Denmark's price shorten over the days to end up less than 2.5 or less than evens come competition week.
If Denmark wins this OGAE poll this year it still does not make or mean that it will be the winner on the night. Since OGAE was started in 2007 the winners of the OGAE polls have been as follows: 2007 Serbia, ESC placing 1st 2008 Sweden, ESC placing 18th 2009 Norway, ESC placing 1st 2010 Denmark, ESC placing 4th 2011 Hungary, ESC placing 22nd 2012 Sweden, ESC placing 1st There has been 6 polls and 3 of whom have actually won ESC on the night which gives a 50% strike rate for winners. So far a winner of the OGAE poll that actually won the ESC was followed the next year with the OGAE poll winner failing to win on the night. Will this year be the first time to see 2 OGAE poll winners in a row to win ESC or will it again be another OGAE poll winner to lose on the night from the previous year being a winner. So from past form 50/50 chance of this years OGAE poll winner to win on the night. |

Yes my posts relate to counting the stated top 10s of youtube vidoes ie the posters favourite top 10.
Couldn't work out why I had an 80 quid cash out till I scrolled down and realised san marino has just about halved in price. |
By:
The youtube top 10 failure last year confirms how hopeless the ESC dweebs are in second guessing what the public who mostly just see/hear the songs once or twice will like.
By:
Re san marino how it was 90s when absolute shyte was half the price feck knows. Sadly like Spain last year the lack of a voting block will probably do for it.
By:
Lack of block vote is indeed a worry for that one. If it fails to get through the semi would be a disgrace, but it's happened many times before with good entries.
By:
No need to collate the youtube Top Tens - there's one video on there where the Top 39 is based on the averages of many others vids. Predictably it has Denmark top but also has Germany in 3rd which makes me think their price around 30s is maybe a bit high.
By:
San Marino - not a bad song but not sure it has the 'first listen wow factor' and certainly it doesn't have the block voting power. I'm happily laying this in the 20s

By:
In the 20's honest? Didn't think it was anywhere near that low?
By:
8 quid traded at 29s the lowest. Oddly last traded at 85s which was a generous lay imo.
By:
Someone pumped a fair bit on it over last couple of days that gradually pushed the price down, but only like you say to around 29 lowest, rest above that, and now bounced back out again.
By:
Norways gone top in latest escforum poll
By:
Norway was top of that poll last week too. Price on Norway now drifting out to 8.4 to back and 10 to lay. Netherlands, Ukraine and Russia also slowly drifting outwards.
By:
Re. San Marino price - type on my part - meant 30s. Happily laying at 36. Even got some more pennies up at that price now if anyone interested. Not a bad song but I'm happy to take the chance on the block vote not being tip top.
That said, the juries concern me in the wake of the bump they gave Italy in 2011. Didn't get stung personally but certainly ensures I'm cautious with most ESC bets these days. In many ways it's taken fun/recklessness out of this game. While we're all in it to make money, some part of me still wishes I was the rash kid circa 1999 who threw money all over the shop and watched the various bets win/lose and then vow to win back the losses next time. The net profit I make overall across my betting is the driving force (it's always a four figure sum each year but never more than that - I'm not in that league) but I have to admit it's at the expense of fun at times. |
By:
Yep, sometimes feels like there are a lot less 'lump jobs' around for these sort of markets now. Probably a good thing in some ways, as it creates potential big priced winners also.
By:
Could be a surprise winner this year honest so start throwing your money around
By:
Italy still in the euro download charts and one Romanian comment on youtube said he had heard Denmark quite a few times on his radio. Any more info re what is being listened to where Dicky? English version of san marino being released as well
By:
Is it game, set and match already?
By:
Market thinks we're all sat in Denmark a year from now - crazy IMO, but it's giving some great prices on other selections, so no complaining.
By:
Let's hope it goes down to evens again.
By:
Hmmm, English version of San Marino could shake things up. Certainly boosted Iceland and Hungary in 2011 when they switched. Neither won but it certainly assisted with trading opportunities in the build up.
By:
Are they just releasing an english version, or doing it for the contest in english?

Video overhears people talking in background. Make of her performance as you wish. |

Strong enough entry for me - the lady has a powerful voice - song builds up to a good crescendo - however with me thinking she is bordering on shouting to hit the very high notes I think a top ten finish is probably a realistic shout for Italy. What so I know she will probably hose up now!!!!

San Marino will struggle big time to beat the best ballad barring those birdies its Russia. Polished, classy and not dressed with the boobies hanging out - indeed looks like another Corinne Hermes 83 winner or Celine Dion 88 winner

new vid of Gravity falls into the same category in my opinion as the san marino ditty. she looks to be trying too hard when those ultra high notes arrive
on the scene |

re Russia - it would have won in '83 and '88 but tastes have changed a bit since then??

For anyone who enjoyed last year`s sand-artist, here (nicked from Chit Chat) is a `Ukraine`s Got Talent` entrant:

Interestingly the 2nd one (I haven't seen the 1st) is ruined by the edit that keeps jumping ahead and skipping bits (as if to say she's boring us by being too slow).
However the beauty of it is in watching her slowly create pictures in real time. The final images themselves, on their own, are nothing special. Edit it and the magic is lost. |

Norway won the escXtra fan vote in a mock final they did last night. Denmark 2nd, Germany 3rd. There is, of course, a clear Western European bias in terms of participating fans, & fans tend to have a built-in anti-diaspora mentality too, so you see the voting powerhouses such as Greece, Russia & Georgia being overlooked.
