The melody is just a cord sequence that's repeatedly again and again
The guys so clueless he doesn't realise that's a positive for eurovision |

Arguably THE most spontaneous post of mine ever on BF... By fluke watched a rerun of Jedward's interview on the Late Late Show just now. When asked by Tubs who they feared most in ESC? One of the dynamic duo insta-replied "the Russian Grannies, coz, like, everyone has Grannies!"
It kind of resonated with me on second hearing... that the daft twerps may have a huge point Special "heads" appreciate, but may not give enough weight to. Obv their biggest threat is the new novelty act 2012, but they may have something... As an aside, their live performance of Waterline was horrendous, which puts into perspective my previous assertion that the Hump was "a bit ropey" later in the same show... Daily rant over x |

Whats happened to cause the UK to double in price recently?

Poor rehearsals according to many.
|
|
By:
...is the simple answer. But I saw nothing terrible and nothing that said he won’t make it on the night. Many singers hold back in rehearsals.
However the reality is his odds now are nearer the true probability of him winning, before or after the rehearsals, and the suddenness of the correction is probably herd behaviour. |

Well, with the rehearsal's just about wrapped up I'm staying with Italy as the winner. I can't judge the closeups but I think the simple monochrome background with a retro flavor works for the song - it also provides a nice contrast to France... A lot will obviously depend on the camera closeups which I can't judge because I haven't seen those... That is one of the limitations of watching these You Tube clips rather than the edited feed in the press room.
Otherwise, I'm still sticking with Belgium as the surprise qualifier in SF 1. I still think it provides a nice contrast to Finland is the most accessible ballad in that semifinal. And there definitely is an audience for ballads at Eurovision... I can't really say that any of the other rehearsal have left much impact. I find Denmark to be too busy in the background (maybe it will look different on TV). I also don't think the MacBeth outfit looks that great but Sweden definitely is a contender. I do like Spain but I don't think they'll place close to Yoanna. I'd go for Top 10 but that is about it. |
|
By:
Which one's Yoanna?
|
|
By:
Sorry for the confusion, Henry. I meant Yohanna from Iceland who placed 2nd in 2009 with her ballad which I also liked and which, on balance, I think is more accessible to viewers than Pastora.

I'm not really following Eurovision, though I'll watch it on the night. Taken advantage of some delightful arbing though.
Only risk I've taken is betting that Serbia will be Top Balkan country (only at bookies that don't count Romania as a Balkan country), so biggest threat is Greece though I'm hoping politics will dampen their vote. The arbing was with William Hill's: Will the UK reach the Top 10 (Yes/No) and Will Ireland reach the Top 10 (Yes/No). I just went with no on both and arbed them in the Top 10 market on Betfair, easy. |

Just noticed Spain up to 30 again- hmm to average up again or not???

The top 20 in the win market (on here) has gone down to France in 20th place for weeks now. I wonder how many (if any?) of the ones above will be 1000-1 this time tomorrow. I know a lot of people think (hope?) Cyprus for starters.

Was in the Gym this morning. The music channel in the gym played all the Eurovision songs (people were moaning) and the only one that people were keen on was SWEDEN. They complained about every other song.
|
|
By:
They listened to all 43? and complained about 42 others but not Sweden. OK ty for sharing
|
|
By:
no, they played 20 songs

Some odd moves today.
Cyprus and Denmark both shortening in the OR, yet drifting in the semi markets...and has Pastora lost her voice? ![]() |

![]() Cheeky sod. ![]() It was on Brighton beach. As I think squares can back up. Brighton was like a candy store for a teenage boy in the summer with 1000's of open minded Scandinavian teenage girls coming over for the summer to brush up on their English. |

yep, seem to remember some language school with light blue and white literature, labels, etc. Think it had three initials as its name.
Stacey Lattisaw, Jump To the Beat was the tune of one particular Summer. |

B'ton = uncomfortable pebbly beach, but at least you don't get sand everywhere

lol true.
Those pebbles can get everywhere tho ![]() EF was the main company running the language schools iirc |

By:
That sounds about right, swirly lettering on the logo.
We need the ESC back at B'ton. |
|
By:
True. Waterloo, couldn't escape if i wanted to.
Back to the reminiscing, I remember the blue and white colour. |
|
By:
did they all have the same school bags from the language school - or something they all had the same?
|
|
By:
Part of the language school, if I understand your question correctly

Where has this cash for the UK come from?
A tipping line? or are people buying into the insanely optimistic Norton trailer for the show? |

Madness figgy laid £112 @ 16 and another £112 @ 18 today on reflection it was probably one of the books hedging, but from our pov a glorious lay madness not to take advantage.
|
|
By:
I can outdo you there JOT, I laid £550 this morning at 14, 14.5 and £200 a bit later at 13.5. (Now waiting on 27 to hedge.)
I'd be surprised if any of the bookies backed that low. I got the impression it was someone(s) who didn't have much time for betting and just wanted to put a wad on Hump. He's getting a fair bit of publicity. |
|
By:
Fair old lump for a punt wouldve thought he would go to the bookies who would have happily laid for publicity purposes, it might of course be a publicity plunge the 60+ albeit his rightful price doesnt put much fuel in the hype bandwagon. Still whatever good news for us long may it reign.
