This 'son' will be in the same generation blaming boomers for getting it all easy, and pulling up the ladder. Not sure many boomers were 'exploring' working 2 days a week so that other people could pay their rent.

Cider not taking Binface at face value, seeing him as a threat is hilarious.

And we have all this to do again if frogface wins.

Farage's victory speech is going to be hilarious.

Beat a bin and 32 other jokers, going back to Westminster to carry on being investigated for corruption Laugh

Do you laugh out loud at ice lolly jokes? I suppose it must the ones inside budget Christmas crackers that really get you going :)

I'd love to know who you think would have won if they hadn't have bottled it.

That's why it doesn't make any sense to anyone with moderate intelligence (or above). Farage must be stopped, he's a 'crook', 'fraud', 'racist' 'Pootin lover' there's a huge anti Reform movement at the ballot box, he's 'corrupt' blah blah blah blah.

So he offers up a chance for any detractor to end his career by taking him on, on a platter, in a fair election.

And instead of doing that, they run away crying.

Now that is much more amusing, in my opinion :)

Nobody is crying except cider.

Farage thought enquiries into his frauds would be ended by this charade and waste of money, instead we have records set for length of ballot paper.

Get the enquiries restarted, stock up on popcorn...

Farage got 46% of a 58% turnout at election
so about 27%, are we up or down on that this time?

Which of Reform's manifesto promises do you think will attract the most voters?

List of promises

1) m̶a̶k̶e̶ ̶m̶o̶v̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶m̶o̶n̶e̶y̶ ̶a̶b̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶v̶i̶a̶ ̶c̶r̶y̶p̶t̶o̶ ̶e̶a̶s̶i̶e̶r̶

There is no number 2, Reform have not published any other manifesto promises

I think the by-election rules need changing.

I think if you resign your seat and then stand for re-election then you should have to put up a £5m bond to cover all expenses.

I read a few of the comments attached to the clacton markets on polymarket.
Quite a few of them seem to be referencing binface's 98 votes in makerfield and other elections, and because they're in america, they don't realise the uniqueness of this by election.
By:
yak hunt
When: 13 Aug 26 12:50
Yes, very true. Also Farage is a recognised figure in America. This has added to the market being skewed in his favour.

Fatface wasn't funny when a joke by election was called so that the pathway was created for a chosen one to walk into #10 without even being a MP, and no vote.

But he is VERY funny now he is running against Farage, as the other legacy parties have bottled it.

Perhaps it is very little to do with subtle humour, and everything to do with the political motivation of those who have just discovered his supposed comic genius. He's done well to supress it until this election, to be fair.

Farage now trading at odds on in the 70-79.99% vote share market. That looks a bit short for a relatively narrow window.

Yes but they like to manipulate odds to influence votes.

Those £8 million office expenses in the accounts don't happen by magic.

I've no real idea what is happening in Clacton, but refuk must be near limit for spending.

Once votes are verified they can release turnout.

Dunno how quick they are down there, but midnite, ish I'd expect, maybe 11.30 if they get a rush on, or maybe as late as 1am,1.30am.

Guessing.

On 11th August, Survation conducted a second telephone poll in the constituency of 102 adults, this time with no candidate or party read out at all. This smaller sample would serve as an experiment in prompting, and as a second wave to be combined with the first poll.

Why poll without prompting?

At 34 candidates, the field for this by-election is the largest ever. The physical ballot is almost 1 metre long. Survation’s preferred method is to read respondents the full list of candidates, but with 34 names that wasn’t feasible, so our first poll read out a shortened field.

The uniqueness of this by-election and the shortened candidate list led our chief executive Damian Lyons Lowe to question whether prompting only the “main” candidates would overstate their support, particularly for Farage and Binface.

So we returned to the field, and didn’t prompt at all. Respondents told us, in their own words, who they would vote for. If someone named a party that is not standing, for example Labour or the Conservatives, they were told that party is not contesting the seat, but were not told who is.

The unprompted wave

The result of the second, smaller sample was similar to the first. Farage increased his vote share from 73% to 79%. Count Binface increased slightly to 21%. Gerry Smith was the only other candidate besides Farage or Binface to be named unprompted, and sits at 1% in this sample.

This sample should be considered an exploratory experiment. The small sample size carries a margin of error of ±10%, but allows us to compare results with the existing poll.

what on earth would make sense here, i'll guess

Turnout     35%   27927

Farage      77%   21501
Binface     19%    5306
Others       4%    1117

If as you suggest, Farage mantained his 2024 vote count of 21,125 in a turnout drop of 19,000 voters, it would be a huge achievement for him.

It's not newsworthy. Obviously there is some betting intrigue. I'm not participating myself, but I'm still very interested. Only the likes of Escapee are actually excited about the results from a political perspective. Obviously the legacy media will gear up if they can spin it as a bad result for Reform. but one senses they have abandoned that project.

It'll be reported.

It's not an interesting story (yet), there won't be dozens of OBs sent to Clacton to report on it. Not least because the bubble are on their jollies.

As I alluded to, legacy media interest evaporated once the chosen one was failing to make an impact. However, as with all elections, nothing is absolute until the count is completed.

In that Survation poll of 102 people, the raw numbers were..

Reform 41
Count Binface 20
Other 1

The rest were undecided, refused to say or will not vote. Survation then weighted those figures using the 2024 General Election.
