Farage has channeled every resource and many of his skills into this, deep deep pocketed donors.

with a 34k turnout and all that above... is he going to hit it out of the park with 27k+ ?

In a by election as unique as this, with no other to compare against, a higher than expected turnout could favour either or both candidates.

Just seen farage interview on GbNews,
He could sell sand in the sahara.
Very affirmative body language, perfectly synchronised syllables and nods, sometimes throws the shoulders into the nods for extra affirmation. Looks natural happenstance but top notch asset for pursuasion.
You can see why he's premier league reality Tv.

Much bigger than consensus expected.

Looks like Farage is piling now, harder to see, no longer in focus.

GBN kindly refocused, definitely Farage piling high for that counter. AO getting more than fatface.

Interesting that, on a number of counters it looks like AO is doing at least as well as, or better than fatface.

Farage says that he won't be attending the count and declaration because Essex police have informed him that there was a credible threat.

From the bbc...

Nigel Farage spoke about an "organised campaign to disrupt and degrade” the result.

He said he didn’t want to be humiliated when explaining why he wouldn’t attend the count.

But a Reform UK spokesperson has just told me it was more than humiliation. The party official says there was a “credible threat against him” at the count.

We are trying to speak to Essex Police to understand the nature of that.

A spokesman for Reform UK says: “Essex Police advised Nigel not to attend the count tonight due to a credible threat against him.”

Nigel Farage will not attend the Clacton by-election count, he tells supporters a Reform UK event.

"I am damned if I am going to stand on a stage, having won a resounding victory.... and be demeaned and humiliated by nobodies," he says.

"I will not, sadly, be attending the count," he adds.

He says Essex Police has told him about an "organised campaign to disrupt and degrade the result".

A recent estimate of the result from an observer suggests..

Farage 69%
Count Binface 23%
Others 8%

That others figure looks a bit too high.

From the bbc...

Essex Police has not advised any candidate that they should not attend the Clacton by-election count, the BBC understands.

Essex Police say in a statement: "We have a proportionate and robust policing operation to ensure the safety and security of all participants in the count."

The force did not provide details of any conversations with Nigel Farage related to the Clacton declaration.

Apparently the last winning candidate to not attend his declaration at a parliamentary by-election was Bobby Sands.

Just another plot twist in this 6 week farce.

The finale will be 33 clowns on stage at the count.

Thanks Cider, I made few mistakes and had a few bad early bets on 25+% and couldn't get matched on 20-25%, market thinned, and as you say ended up with a poor dutch

Hey ho, gotta try and learn, play better next time and enjoy the journey.

VWD Escapee.  I only played the outright and second place laying at 18-55.  I did put up lays of over 25% when Binface was about 2/1-9/4 but they were never matched.

The bin did well.  Hardly a ringing endorsement for Farage.  Under 63%, when the imputed betting line was 9-10 spots higher.

Definitely would have lost if I had gotten involved. Competing instincts perhaps, but just had a nagging feeling that the safest option was to be prudent. Fatface doubled my guesstimate tho, by hook or by crook. For me it was just an intriguing betting event to observe.

Farage attracted more votes than he did in the general election. In spite of the relentless smearing and incessant reporting of the gifts, the 'joke' election narrative. Yes it's a ringing endorsement. Yes the markets pitched his line too high.

The 'credible threat' unfortunately stopped the pictures of the year with Farage and the other candidates.

He got it over the line, and won what will become an often repeated retort over the next year.

They successfully got the 'opposition' to coalesce around a single candidate, which won't happen again in the originally planned by election. And still light years away from what they needed to get near Farage. In fact I feel like there is a fair chance that the planned by election will be bottled now as well.

The most 'depressing' outcome was Clouston's showing. He actually puts a lot of effort into producing policy, but completely overlooked as he doesn't suit the agenda.
