Hottest June day record broken again

The Met Office has recorded a provisional temperature of 36.4C at Yeovilton, Somerset, making it the hottest June day on record.

This beats yesterday's hottest June temperature record of 36.1C in Hampshire, which broke the longstanding record from 1976.

Going to need to wear two tinfoil hats today guys.

Stopping the drill baby driller and getting them to lead charge torrenewables
would make everybody happy long term.

But politicians are easily bought, and news vehicles happy
to be a conduit for the right price.

Your analogy doesn't work. Putting 'extra litter' in the bin doesn't deliberately impoverish yourself. Try keeping it in your house and stinking it out.

If nut zero was cost free, no problem. If you're the only mugs keeping rubbish in your own house, thinking you're setting a leading example, it's a problem. We are an example of a country that now relies on other countries for everything. What could possibly go wrong with that strategy.

Burning expensive oil should be in the bin and green energy
charged nearer to cost.

Taking litter home from park rather than putting it in
the bin for recycling is a typical swivel eyed straw man
argument.

Whatever WE do, is not going to change the weather. It will simply impoverish us and make
doing business to make a profit harder or impossible. It might be an unfortunate fact, but a fact it is.
When constant freely available energy is cheaper than fossil fuel, people will knock you over to get at it.

We are hardly " impoverished" by the costs of  reducing our carbon footprint ...but sounds dramatic ..

Thankfully the Oil Lobby has successfully put enough obstacles in the way to prevent us getting knocked over.

Windmills are currently a third the price per megawatt hour versus gas.

For a temperature in ONE area of just 0.3 of a degree higher than ONE other area recorded yesterday ?

What has happened to the promised 39/40 degrees C that the BBC climate zealots were catastrophizing ?

It stayed in france and did not move north as the monte carlo modelling had favoured.

It's direction has changed from Northerly to a more Easterly track and it's worst of it is going to hit central Europe instead of UK over the next 2 days.

Isn't science wonderful.

Yet again the modelling was awry, didn't stop the weather experts telling us we would (not might) be hitting 39/40 in a place and that records would be smashed out of sight.

They need to tone things down a bit as they do this far too often with the weather, then roll out the excuses as to why they got it wrong.

Don't blame it on the good times

What a clown escapee is, totally misrepresenting what i said.

They were routinely forecasting 39/40 degrees would be hit in places this week. They were wrong.

"The hottest areas of the UK - namely southern England and parts of Wales - will see the thermometer rise to 38 or 39C,"

If you are in the sun it will feel much hotter, and high humidity
makes it very uncomfortable inside or out.

Seems bizarre folk are arguing it's not getting hotter
maybe the heat is affecting them.

Lovely day down here along the North Downs, nice NE breeze and just like a normal summers day.

Nowhere near the temps our BBC SE weather girl was just wittering on about. "Today was the hottest ever June day !" she confidently told us .
Well it might have been somewhere in Somerset luv, but it bleedin' wasn't here Laugh

Jersey

With a temperature of 39.3°C recorded at the Maison St. Louis Observatory, Jersey has recorded it's hottest day since records began in 1894. The previous record was 37.9°C on 18th July 2022.

I know where Jersey is, and it's breaking records too.

The fact you appreciate a breeze suggests it could have been
warm where you are.

We are norf of laden at the mo and was around 36 here, with
very little breeze, we will survive, but it's unusually hot.

Back to Durham at weekend and no 30s on the forecast for 2 weeks.

Back in 2014, just 12 years ago, days of over 30 degrees in France were so rare that it seemed a bit fanciful to predict there would be 40 degree days in 35 years due to climate change in 2050.
