Seriously, it's not that hot down here. Warmer than typical, but I can think of dozens of times when it was more uncomfortable.

The crazies in the establishment have gone too early. It's no different to last week (so far)

It was very warm down in mid Kent today but a nice easterly wind kept it more than bearable. I've certainly known a lot worse.
Tomorrow is meant to have a north easterly breeze so should be fine, then temps go up on Friday before normal service is resumed at the weekend.

Tbe bbc and others were predicting 39/40 degrees would be hit somewhere today, even though we were way off that it hasn't stopped the catastrophising.
It'll be tomorrow instead they now say and we are all still doomed. But even so, don't forget to pay your licence fee will you Laugh

it was yer tinfoil hat wot saved you from the perils of the record hottest day in june ever for UK....france, belgium, holland etc etc.

Tut tut escapee, how do you know it was the hottest June day EVER in the UK ?

Weather records only began in 1910.

No hat of any description needed to save anyone from the alleged hottest June temperature since 1910, all that was required was to avoid being in Gosport  Laugh

The Central England Temperature (CET) dataset has maintained uninterrupted records since well before 1700, making it the longest-running instrumental temperature series in the world. The dataset tracks a triangular region enclosed by London, Lancashire, and Bristol

.Analyzing the historical trends from 1700 to the present reveals several key insights:Significant Warming Trend1.3°C Increase:

The overall mean temperature has risen by approximately 1.3°C between the end of the 17th century and the 21st century.

Unprecedented Recent Warming: While the dataset shows natural cycles of cooler and warmer spells over the centuries, the warming observed since the late 20th century is entirely unprecedented.Modern Extremes:

Nine out of the ten warmest years in the entire 360+ year history have occurred since 1990. The top five warmest years have all taken place since 2006.

The Last Top-Ten Cold Year: The last time a year was cold enough to enter the historical top-ten coldest list was 1879, during the reign of Queen Victoria.

UK weather records are officially dated back to 1910, when widespread observations using standardized equipment began.
Official Start of Weather Records
The Met Office often cites 1910 as the starting point for systematic weather records in the UK. This year marks when regular measurements using Stevenson Screens—which are designed to provide a controlled environment for measuring temperature—became widespread across the country

Now, firstly I've never been to Bradford so maybe I need putting right.

But I was in Leeds on tuesday, and noticed on the motorway back seeing a sign saying use Exit whatever for Bradford tourist destinations, and I was thinking what tourist sites are there exactly? Can't say I've ever heard of it as a place to visit for its sights or things to do.

The weather was so dangerous for kids yesterday that around these parts they let the kids out of safe air-conditioned classrooms early, so they could then congregate in the deadly killer sun and be a nuisance to motorists. .

Was that pretty much the same all around the UK ?

It was of course the resemblance to Karachi that got Bradford the prized  "City of Culture" status in 2025.

I thought this whole climate scam was settled years when that boat capsized in the pacific and spilled 28,000 plastic ducks. The friendly floatees spill they called it. It was a perfect opportunity to monitor the climate currents as the ducks drifted all over the world. In the end they decided there was no evidence of any foul play.

It's something we have to adapt to, scaring people on the news does
nothing, stopping the 1%  of emissions we produce will do nothing.
Fear sells, so we are inundated with bad news about it. What would you suggest we do?

Well said, some people are never happy. Cats I feel sorry
for, but they're coping and enjoying being out all night.
I remember the 70s, we used to take shovels out with us in
the van in winter, in case of heavy snow. We just got on with it.
