why are you asking me?
|
|
By:
It seems like you are a proponent of reducing emissions. Most people on that pill use nut zero as the lever.
If you are not proposing nut zero, what exactly are you advocating for? And what specifically will be different to the current situation? |
|
By:
I don't believe humans are capable of working together in the numbers and unity required to prevent the ongoing man made climate change.
The current solutions are not going to work. I don't think there is a solution that will work, so I have not proposed any solutions. UK's (and probably most other countries) Nut Zero policies have been shaped by billionaires for the benefit of billionaires. They will not make any difference to the speed of climate change. I'm not advocating for anything, as I don't believe individual humans and countries can make a tangible difference, And the world is never going to work together. However, Wind and solar power is much cheaper and cleaner than fossil fuel power, so I would say that's a win win. Let's build a load of wind and solar power. Jobs and cheaper electricity, what's not to like? |
|
By:
Fortunately there is a financial incentive to use less energy and as an 82yo mean old sod, I take advantage of as many as I can although I draw the line at electric cars. As for public transport, it is only of use to urban dwellers. If I want to get to the nearest town there are 2 morning buses through the village which don't stop within a mile of any of the places I might want to visit and the return bus is 4 hours or more later. I do have the computer and TV on quite a lot but don't drive much these days.

The weather is getting a degree or two hotter in the SUMMER!!
And??? Be afraid! Don’t go out. Don’t enjoy yourself. And give us more money in your taxes to beat this…. And the village idiots go along with it and believe these fools in power… |
|
By:
What are ‘they’ going to be scaring the sheeple with in next few weeks when it’s 18 degrees and raining in July?
|
|
By:
wind and solar are absolutely not cheaper, and obviously erratic.
if superior technology comes along, it doesn't need to be compelled into use by law. people didn't stop using Blackberrys as it was commanded by government. |

Agreed cl.....really enjoying it....pottering about in garden....long may it continue.....i remember i think it was 1976.....went on for weeks and weeks....water was only on for an hour in morning and hour in evening and we had to fill the bath and use that water for everything.....anyone else remember it???

First time on this subject no expert but the planet we call earth has heated up and cooled down since it pop out of the big bang not sure that a couple of days of very warm weather in Bradford proves this, but i can see how some people think the world as we know it is ending.

Dancing Brave - i remember 1976 as i was playing cricket most days, as a medium quick bowler bowling long spells i was wishing i'd been a spinner instead
![]() From this date in 1976 there were 15 consecutive days where the temp hit 32 degrees. Don't think this spell will last as long. |

I left school in 1976 Dixie, had an apprenticeship lined up with ICI for the September and in those days you could go straight on the dole and get £12 a week. Endless sun that summer and every Thursday I used to go on the Royal Iris disco cruise down the Mersey to Widnes and back. Great times.

I left in 1978 Mr S, another good summer from memory, thought i could lounge about for a while so signed on for social security but only got 9 quid a week. Still enough for 20 ciggies a day and a couple of beers, that is until the old man said your board is a fiver a week
. I soon got a job Only lasted a couple of weeks (estate agents) and saw a job in Maidstone advertised with General Accident insurance , started there in the September and stayed there 23 years. I think i said about seven or eight words at each "interview", different times indeed. The world seemed so much simpler then , no mobile phones, Sky TV etc, but such fond memories. |

Didn't realise you were of such a fair age Dixie, I was always taught to respect your elders so from now I will treat you with kid gloves instead, now careful as you go ol' Boy, mind those steps

Yes it's not as though the myriad of posts i've made detailing being around in the 70s and 80s would have given the game away Mes
![]() But well done on cottoning on at last. Not drawing the state Pension yet, steps not an issue for me, i still walk 30 miles or more a week in the area around the village and beyond, miles away from Chatham ![]() |

70's and 60's was a great time to be growing up, I fear for today’s youth as they have a mobile phone or tablet before they can read these days.

*80's not 60's though I do remember a lot of the 60's.

Nope.
I just see through your constant sealioning attempts and have no desire to play along. |
|
By:
I have no idea what sealioning is, I told you that before.
You made a claim/accusation, I'm asking for the evidence. Otherwise you're just another crackpot quoting made up stuff from twatter. To be clear, I'm not stating it incorrect, but to me it seems far more likely it would be civil servants wanting to have the day at home (any feeble excuse). |
|
By:
The loudest voices of people who tell us there is a climate emergency and sea levels are rising have seafront properties and travel everywhere in private jets. Could that be a clue they don't believe their own climate nonsense?
|
|
By:
The public sector don't need much of an excuse to down tools, however all they've done in W Norfolk is postponed the debate/vote until next Thursday.
More ridiculousness from PoP, all he had to do was provide a link or source (as he would undoubtedly insist on others doing). But instead he tries to be clever ![]() |
|
By:
To be fair, trying to be clever is pretty flattering, more like trying to be thick. He says it's Reform's words but his Bolded (why?) quote references Reform in the third person. It may well be Reform's words but he may also be making it up.
