Greens got a good chance because they are the only party advocating for wealth taxes. Might be in government in 9 years time if other parties don't wake up. If there was any party I wouldn't want implementing wealth taxes it would be the Greens.

Why exactly is it that the 'Green' party is explicitly soliciting for Pakistani support?
I realise it's a colour match, but it must be more than that. Is it because the regressive nature of that ideology balances off with the alleged progressive ideology of the actual Green party ? |

The pub in my parents' village closed last week. Always packed on a Sunday for dinner reservations and been there for at least 50 years, but the budget has fecked them over. Tax wealth, not work and business. Taxing businesses and income more generally doesn't work.

Oh I agree with the penal budget but that was the purpose. They want pubs to close. It's nothing to do with achieving more tax revenue.
Obviously it's the monumental wastage that's the critical issue, not collecting more tax. Pretty much every town in the country has kids getting taxis and ubers into school. Paid for by the government. |

A large proportion of older voters will be dead in 9 years. The 30 year old who want change and support Green aren't going to change affiliation because things for them are only going to get worse. And new voters are going to vote Green.

The 30 year olds are probably pro immigration. And probably have no comprehension that's the reason owning a property is out of their reach. After having a taxpayer sponsored 3 year holiday in the name of advanced education !

Birth rate 1.41 in 2024 and falling. We are in a whole load of pain in the future. We'll need immigration to plug those gaps in the future and that will make us even more religiously diverse

The birth rate has fallen due to liberalists policies. Making women work and mass immigration preventing people getting suitable housing to raise a family.
I've said this to you before. You are not daft. How does importing millions of adults who don't work help with anything? They all need to be supported by the state as well. We have a monumental amount of adults of working age not working full time. Let me know when that's not the case, then we might consider importing people who actually work full time. |

If you have a leak, the first thing needed is to turn the water off. Then you can set about cleaning up. Then you can carry out appropriate repairs to stop it leaking again in the future.

Yes it's kind of biology, women can't work and raise children properly at the same time. Your smiley's are appropriate if you don't think that is correlated with the decline in birth rate.
You'll find that there is a correlation in cultures where women don't work full time, and having large families. |

How on earth are people going to afford a house and children on one wage when they can't afford them on two? Thatcher's decision to sell off the council houses, was arguably the worst political decision of my lifetime, and there have been many many dreadful ones |

In the last 50 years GDP per capita has roughly doubled. That means per person we should be twice as well off as we were 50 years ago. But 50 years ago the rivers were clean, you could get an appointment with an NHS dentist, Local and National Government and individuals weren't in piles of debt. There was a good supply of council houses, and many more families could afford to have one parent looking after their kids full time.
So where has that doubling in GDP gone? Can only be in one place, and that is wealthy individuals. |

I'm talking about the future regarding immigration which is inevitable due to the birth rate, not the current situation. This is where we will be heading in maybe 15-20 years ....

I'd have let more old people die, because the driver should be life expectancy, and life expectancy will reduce because of lockdown. But, I fully understand the public and media pressure to do so was immense, and to oppose that pressure was exceptionally difficult.
