Liz Truss has an interesting background including anti-monarchist stances (when she was a Lib Dem) that she was a remainer means she has very little chance. She's seems a careerist type

Ben Wallace has got some baggage - anti gay rights stances and embellishing his military intelligence years...the Tories will not elect another liar.

Wallace "anti gay rights" might appeal strongly to core Conservative membership. What's the military intelligence bit about please?

I don't rate Liz Truss at all but others appear to.

Early in 2016, with the approach of the European Union referendum, Boris Johnson was wavering between Leave and Remain, and Wallace advised him strongly to support Remain, as taking the Leave side would mean being allied with "clowns".[15] Wallace himself supported the Remain side before the referendum.

Claiming he was an intelligence officer during 1st ceasefire in early 90s, someone who was an Ulster Unionist was calling it BS

Traditional Conservatism, coupled with high moral standards and a decorated military background looks like a good place to start to me. The remainer bit is way overplayed now. Hunt was a remainer. He got to the last two in the previous leadership election. So was Javid and Truss, remainers all.

He is mentioned in dispatches during active service. I am fairly sure that bit is true, at least.

Can't blame him for that if Suella has the better support. I lose a bit of pocket money but c'est la vie. It would be great if she becomes our first woman of colour PM and I would be very happy with that.

If she can transfer that ERG support to herself, she could get past the initial ballots.

Javid is finished "Sajid Javid wanted lockdown measures over Christmas and mandatory Covid vaccines for employees, it has emerged amid backlash over his speech condemning Boris Johnson. Two sources said that he had urged Mr Johnson to close public spaces such as shops and hospitality to avoid the spread of the virus. It was also claimed that Mr Javid had suggested that the Government follow a suggestion by Joe Biden, the US president, and mandate vaccinations for people who work for companies with more than 100 employees.
The plan would have seen workers told that they must be vaccinated or wear masks in the workplace, and be tested for Covid at least once per week."

Correct Lux,they(this crew) have vandalised the political landscape of the UK if not also towards a lot of the world. A media fest in trumping this up too many notches when the reality is a fair few should be booed and spat at.

The size of the field could become crazy. The only way I can see in order to speed up the process is to dramatically increase the number of MPs support required in each ballot, from the start. That should knock out a good few immediately.

I have lots of bets on 'next Tory leader' market, which at a glance looks the same thing.

Can imagine people getting confused.
