I hope this ends up with a run off between Javid and Sunak. Yes, they should have done it much earlier, but without their action the buffoon would not have been forced out.

You can see how weak many Tory MPs actually are in suggesting it is fine for him not have left immediately. He has been deemed unfit for the job yet they are happy for him to continue. Boris is still playing them for fools. If there is a vote of confidence they will have to support him.

Anyone who didn't call him out shouldn't even be in the running for leader. The fact that they are again indicates the weakness of Tory MPs.

It should rule out the likes of Wallace, Truss, Mordaunt, Braverman, and Zahawi. That's even before you explore their threadbare credentials. It beggars belief that Wallace is actually favourite. Other than talking up Ukraine what else has he done? As I said before a couple of months ago he was a faceless nobody. He hasn't done anything that anyone else in his job wouldn't have done.

Tory MPs will be looking for the candidate most likely to get them re-elected so will be looking for attractive policies particularly on the Cost of Living crisis.

As yet the only solutions being offered are hose the electorate with money. While that's a very Gordon Brown/ thing to do it's not a very Tory thing to do.

Sunak, Wallace, Mordaunt, Zahawi and Truss look as though they are definitely running according to newspapers.

In some ways rushing this is bad for tories.

They really should stick Raab or a n other as
caretaker, and let the candidates speak, and
debate so the mps and members can decide on merit
not spin.

Instead it's going to be schoolyard stuff, and
country ends up with some idiot, again, not
qualified for job.

There are some decent candidates, but the herd
likely won't listen.. Like last time.

As with all things Tory MP related it'll be down to how many mates a candidate has.

A few candidates have not come out and slagged off Boris as they don't want to upset his mates.

Mark Spencer:

Rishi is the leader that can unite the Party, bring the whole country together and win us that fifth general election victory.  In serious times we need a person with a proven track record.  Rishi gets my full support.

Today I’ve written to Nadine Dorries URGING her to stand as our party leader & continue the legacy of Boris Johnson.

With her in charge we can win the war in Ukraine, level up & keep British fish British.

Tugendhat has shown himself principled and honest for a long time. The Beijing tyrants won't want him
in, though. I genuinely think they might try to besmirch him in some way, but he'll be ready for them. His
disapproval of China's genocide etc. has been exceeded only by his disapproval of BJ. He'll have no difficulty
delegating jobs in order to make up for his own inexperience. I think he could be great.

Raab is a tube.

Sunak has a lot going for him, and it would be thrilling to see a man of colour (I hope that's the current phrase)
in no.10, but are the Tories in the country ready for it?

Hunt got a lot of air-time through the pandemic, and looked as slippery as ever, but he's definitely more recognisable
than Wallace.

Javid is a tube.

Truss has been campaigning almost as long as Sunak. I think she might repel people with her naked ambition. People
like it in men, but tend to be a bit sexist about it.

Gover would be a decent PM, but I agree that he has no chance.

Mordaunt - no comment - I barely know anything about her except that she's another military type. I'm not sure
how this goes down in the country, but I suppose it's a good thing for her if it's good for Wallace and Tugendhat.

Davis might be interesting. He's prominent and has shown a decency most of the time.

There's usually a candidate that no one knows much about. I'm fascinated to see if that happens again.

Zahawi would have been in with a chance but I think he made a fatal blunder by taking the CotE job. What a berk.

Zahawi messed up when he used taxpayer's money to heat his riding stables.

Tainted by sleaze pretty much like Sunak and his green card / non-dom wifey stuff.

Whoever the Tory mob promote will likely be a shade of vanilla IMO

It's likely that the three resigned Boris chancellors, namely Javid, Sunak and Zahawi, will all be fishing in the same vote pool. So will Tugendhat and Hunt. I think that Mordaunt and Wallace have the most potential support.

Hunt had quite a lot of support last time.

Obviously some of them are gone, but surely
Tugenhat could build on that, if Hunt starts
and then drops out.

Wallace and Mourdant seem to be anyone but votes,
and could easily become bandwagons

So you registered Ready for Rishi in December, meaning you were preparing a leadership campaign & since then your best idea to win people over (during a crisis that’s seen people choose between heating and food) was a fully repayable loan. Do you think you might be sh1t at this?
