UK local elections are scheduled to be held on May 7th, 2026.

This market will be turned in-play with unmatched bets cancelled at the stated time on the day of the election. Customers are entirely responsible for their positions at all times.

This market will resolve according to the party whose official candidates individually win the most seats/local elections at local government elections for UK local governments during those elections occurring on May 7th. Local elections will constitute; London Borough Councils, Metropolitan Boroughs, Unitary Authorities, County Councils, District Councils and Elected Mayors. A candidate will be considered an official candidate of a party if they are officially nominated by that party and are registered for the relevant election in affiliation with that party. This market will settle only on those seats won at the stated election.

New Survation polling conducted yesterday shows that the public are sceptical towards US and Israeli actions, and do not want to see further UK involvement in the conflict.

Over two-fifths (43%) think that US and Israeli action is unjustified, compared to 30% who do.

Labour has won a county council by-election, taking the seat back from Reform.

Julie Griffiths was elected to serve the Murton ward on Durham County Council on Thursday.

The by-election was called after former Reform member David Cumming stepped down last year due to work commitments. The turnout was 24.9%.

Griffiths got 1,004 votes, with Reform's Theo Bell coming in second on 786 votes, and Isaac Short of the Green Party third with 95 votes.

She will represent Murton alongside Reform's Mark Rowney.

Griffiths, who is also the chair of Murton Parish Council, previously served the ward until the local elections in 2025 when she lost her seat.

"I have always been a pavement politician and listened to local people. I couldn't let people down," she told the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Somebody asked about local election polling on here.

Not a poll as such, and possibly just hearsay to scare starmer?

But...

Senior Labour politicians across London have been privately circulating new data that suggests Labour could drop from first to fourth place in London – losing control of all but two of their councils – with the Greens soaring into first place to take nine.

There are some big differences in polling these days.

Having to adjust for who they voted for, and different
areas switching to different parties is making national
polling very tricky at 1500 sample and around there.

Feels like lots of temporary churn influences too

Maybe give it a few weeks...

I find it baffling that Reform are favourites to win most seats at the next General election. Their lead in the polls is being consistently eroded and cannot win anything with their current opinion poll share coupled with inevitable tactical voting.

even on their current late 20s vote share with the others below 20 they'd been in for around 300 seats with no one else getting a 100. it's how first past the post works if you're significantly ahead of everyone else. the gap to the others is what counts

If every Westminster seat in the country replicated exactly current polls, that would be the case. However, it's not the case. There is no possible chance whatsoever that Reform will come close to 300 seats.
