laid the 1.33 earlier in the week on october. Suspect the value is 2020 at the moment if they are true to the word and wont trigger an election until december then its possible they will think thats not a good idea and suspend into 2020.

Problem is the extension is only until January (assuming the EU don't demand it's pushed back to say June, anticipating more shenanigans from unelected PM Cummings) so a Jan election is similar to an October one now.

If you are going to actually solve it through political means then ultimately there will have to be an election pretty much. However there's a chance Boris does something totally crazy which could lead to who knows what if he had to step down.

I have voted at every opportunity for over 40 years - never missed.
Never again. Parliament has shown a complete disregard for the views of the people. They have shown such contempt that there is no point in voting. In the unlikely event that I live another 40 years I will never vote again. And, I will not show my feelings by spoiling my ballot paper because parliament would be as contemptuous of that as they were about the referendum result. |

Seems to be a general consensus on other forums that the only credible dates for a general election this year are Thursdays- Nov 28th, Dec 5th, 12th Dec. The November date is cutting things very neat. Boris goes to EU council 17th/18th October. Dissolution of Parliament, moving the writ, minimum period of campaigning etc. If you move into December then you have issues with weather, Christmas shopping, dark nights, low turnout. 2020 or later seems more likely to me right now but year 2019 is favourite on here.

so as it doesnt look like he has a deal, then the eu summit likely will approve an extention based on an election, 28 nov is cutting it fine but somebody expects.... |

very likely as many as half the current MPs will be swept away in a general election but you're still gonna have the same characters everyone's absolutely long since sick and tired of - boris, corbyn, swinson and blackford - arguing like 5 year olds again
can you imagine it with the latter 3 having already basically stolen the result of the referendum then follow it up by trying cobble together some totally illegitimate government if labour finish say 70 seats behind the tories  |

i know in these uncertain times 5000 isn't a big majority but PMs generally increase their vote
would split my sides if either swinson or blackford got booted out. whatever happens overall bound to be loads of odious characters on their bike - it's not like there's any shortage in this parliament |

Boris will either have a deal or be out of office on October 31. Surely the other parties will agree on a vote of no confidence if there is no sign of a deal by October 25? They will then form a temporary coalition Government to get a delay. After that who knows.

The European Union is poised to extend Brexit talks into as late as next summer after the European council president, Donald Tusk, dismissed Boris Johnson’s strategy as a “stupid blame game”.
A “range of dates” will now be in play at the meeting of European leaders next week but sources suggested the natural cut-off date would be June. Would be quite funny if the election didn't take place until May 2020 i.e. the date required by the FTPA after the 2015 election |

there's a NATO summit in watford on dec 3 and 4 which of course boris will be fully involved in as host so that certainly rules out dec 5 and also makes the following week problematic surely. can't afford to lose 2 days campaigning in the final week before an election
