Well, I'm still here, Karla, but I have given up any expectation of an answer/rebuttal to the point I have raised. The rest I am finding a bit boring and repetitive.
Local Government staff and councillors will continue, as they have for decades, with their self-justification and absence of objectivity. They will continue to devote over 20% of Council Tax to their own pensions; Councillors who used to carry out their role out of true public service will continue to pay themselves and join the Local Authority pension scheme; the needs of Council staff will continue to be put before the core needs of the local communities that they are supposed to serve and from whom so much money is extracted in business rates and Council Tax. I respect people who are prepared to consider and weigh up opposing and differing points of view. You should swap your blinkers for a pair of cheekpieces, at least occasionally. |

The thread is repetitive for a reason Arley.
It is highly irritating when someone won't answer a simple question, yet will smugly and dismissively post that she has answered it when she clearing hasn't. |
|
By:
"clearly" hasn't

That's why you're a tiger, Java, and I'm a moggy
. |
|
By:
you have to understand that these council house types are so imbued with the idea that they know best, that they cannot see out of the box they are trapped in which has to self-perpetuate itself or they are out of a job - what else can they do
imagine if they stood up and said we need to change our ethos they would be gone in days they are not going to sh!t on their own carpet now are they. Anyone who did would be sneared at and isolated - just as they try to do over the eu, rascism, immigration, sexuality, inflation, local govt decisions , policing etc etc etc |

These people drag entire economies down, and drag down the morale of communities.

Karla is currently basking in the warm glow of love washing over her from all the comments in support of what she does so selflessly.

Perhaps Mr Java and Mr Eeternal could tell us which words it is they are struggling to understand? Then we can simplify for them.
And for the record, Mr Eeternal, I never let such praise go to my head. My feet are firmly on the ground. |
|
By:
The words I am struggling to understand is why you won't answer the below question? Perhaps you can post it again (asking politely here)
Karla - why do you consider it necessary and a good use of taxpayer money for councils to "get their message out"? Why don't they either increase spending on their services instead or reduce the council tax bill? |
|
By:
Karla
Given the paucity of your response it is the arrogance of the delivery and its finality which is breathtaking. Did you seriously expect anybody to be content with informing us what PR departments do as if you were delivering unto us a tablet of stone? |
|
By:
I do hope she doesn#t take this long on the toilet.
|
|
By:
I'm a director of a small/medium sized business and we too have a PR dept. I just want to point out there are three people employed in this department, one of whom is the manager , i can tell you he earns less than 45k. That karla thinks she can earn the equivalent in the private sector, well i very much doubt that. Also the manager of the PR dept works 5-6 days per week and upto 12hrs per day, i bet those leeches in the council only do a 4 day week, it would seem they are vastly overpaid and actually contribute very little.
|
|
By:
Not even sure why a council would want to WASTE money on a PR department
|
|
By:
That is what we are trying to get Karla to answer Candiru, but she refuses merely arrogantly calling us "bootlickers".

I see that java, however her lack of answers only confirms what most of us think of councils (and their pointless PR depts).

You can't claim PR departments don't do irony. Under the title What A waste They advise us on Lovely Leftovers Savvy Storage Perfect Portions Feeding the Kids Know your dates It pays to plan Closing a few libraries though; I will take some convincing this patronising stuff represents spending Council Tax wisely. |

Jesus f*cking Christ
"Perfect portions Weighing and measuring food is the guaranteed way to cook perfect portions: A mug (300ml) is handy for measuring uncooked rice. 1 adult portion = 1/4 mug; (as sizes of mugs vary, use this measure as a guide to work out your own perfect portions)." Here's an idea council: Why don't you f*ck off and mind your own business you patronising c*cksuckers. Fix the roads. Sort out the street lights. Maintain library. Empty bins. And don't do anything else. |

By:
How can anybody justify or condone this utter phucking waste of our money.

By:
Karla must be reeling around like Gordon Brown in his last days in the bunker.
|
|
By:
I doubt Karla has the courage to come back on this thread.
|
|
By:
Definitely out of the
You couldn't make it up file. |
|
By:
She'll be back with the telescope up to her blind eye telling us all what fools we are because she answered the question.

I have told you EO, Karla is a fellow with a beard.
All that stuff about being a model was a wind up, as was the team building course in Sherwood Forest. |

my vocation is vital to the community
maybe, probably not, but why does it cost 80k per anum? |
|
By:
Blimey first time I have been called an extreme Right Wing nutter.
Having worked in local government I would dispute "vital". Nurses are "vital". Closing libraries; while providing public "advice" on portion control, and checking dates on packets shows a distinct lack of priorities IMO. |

By:
Mister E
How can you know? She simply refuses to divulge what it is she actually does so we can assess whether we think her job is vital. Maybe it is? |
|
By:
Yes, I have assumed PR or another non-job. Perhaps Karla supervises refuse collection.
Karla is certainly a mystery person. You always knew where you were with my old friend Lampus. |

Lying under a table having imbibed too much?

She simply refuses to divulge what it is she actually does so we can assess whether we think her job is vital.
Oh my, you've now resorted to downright bare faced lies. Not only did I tell you exactly what I do on my very first thread on this forum you actually took the time to cut and paste it onto another thread a short time ago. So that makes you a liar. Sophistry incoming? |

This is now the 27th most popular thread in the forum's history.
Shortly it will overtake the Emma West tram ranter thread. The most popular was the 2010 General Election thread with 1312 replies. So there is quite a way to go yet. All parties seem intent on keeping this thread near to the top, including Comrade Karla from the Ministry of Propaganda. |
|
By:
If she had the courage to answer the question, I imagine the thread would die quickly irrespective of whether people disagreed with her.
But she won't. She is a coward. |
|
By:
Karla
It is yourself who has the difficulties with truth. Clearly this can be partially offset with your new dictionary but can you learn another new word? You didn't tell me exactly what you do. That is a bare faced lie. As I have pointed out on several occasions you spoke in generalities and gobbledegook and then topped it off with an assertion that we both save lives. You rebuffed all my attempts to get a clearer understanding of your roll and that is where we left it. Feel free to dig up and post our exchange and other people can assess for themselves who is lying on this occasion. At least that will give you a fair chance. Failing that feel free to tell everybody what it is you actually do. |
|
By:
Indeed Java.
Coward, liar and knave. I see a career in politics beckoning for the comrade. |

Karla
I think that is 3-0 to me. ![]() |

By:
My assessment of Karla's role is as follows from her vague postings. She can correct me if I am wrong.
She engages with the local community to inform them of what council services they can use, and promote new council services. Something along the lines of "I see you have a young child. Did you know that the swimming pool does free lessons on a Tuesday and you can use it for free?" That is what she calls "invaluable to the community". In my opinion, to pay £85k of taxpayer money for this service is scandalous. The service isn't even needed - people can find out about services for themselves. Even worse I suspect Karla supervises minions who go out to promote the services - i.e. she doesn't even do the promoting herself. Like I said - feel free to counter the above with a more accurate description of what you do. If I have completely misunderstood your role I apologise and the stage is yours to tell us what it is you do that is so important. |
|
By:
I quite clearly told you my job title and then described my job to you.
Thanks. |
|
By:
So I'm my description is close I guess.
|
|
By:
I have to assume I'm pretty close if you won't correct me. It's such a shame you won't answer a direct question.
I bet if I asked you on date I wouldn't be any the wiser as to whether you had accepted or not. ![]() |
