You actually said woeful, and terrible.Wink

He wasn't woeful, he was in a firefight. They're not sparring, it happens. His record speaks for itself, if you look a little deeper than just thinking Hooker was 'woeful' and 'terrible'.

Only guy to beat Yusuff in the UFC. Lentz is a very solid fighter, and Melendez will probably end up in the HOF eventually.

I saw the Melendez fight live and he schooled him. Granted on the arse end of his career, but still a lot of pressure for Allen having his first Vegas fight at T-Mobile during IFW.

Gilbert vs Diego will prob go down as one of the all time top 10 fights when all is said and done. Might even watch it again now before bed, after you getting me talking about it Grin

How do you feel about Pimblett, TR? I want to like him but the overconfidence/self hype makes it difficult for me. He acts like he's going to be Champion in the next year but he's nowhere near good enough

He's like a Tesco Value Conor, really. Entertaining as hell, but not got the same kind of ceiling, imo.

Think Dana will try to get as many fights out of him as possible, before throwing him into ranked opponents, or at least top 10 ones, anyway.

He could do with learning how to not block punches with his face, but he is a young lad still.

He saw what worked for McGregor, and he's trying to get paid. Smart lad, and it's going to be a fun year or so.

Most casuals will lap it up, but the reality is there is more chance of me getting in the octagon, than him winning a title before the end of 2023.

If Dana is smart about it, he'll bring the UFC to the UK again twice more this year, and another 3 times next year. This hype will easily sell out the arenas for him. He just has to be careful who he matches Paddy and Molly against. Aspinall is the real deal. Allen is very good too. Then you've got Leon Edwards who's very technical and loves to win a high level chess game. The UFC brand cuts through and sells anyway, and when you combine it with the hype behind Paddy/Molly/UK MMA it's a no brainer to return here ASAP

I suppose the counter-arguement is that UFC sells out pretty much anywhere it goes!

I think 3x a year would create a lot of logistical work and expense, which they don't need. As you say, it sells anyway, and he'll likely be here 2x a year while things are normal here.

He has already said that he told the office they're sitting down when he gets back, and fitting another UK show in before the end of 2022. Also said they'll be doing another title fight here, which means a PPV show.

Dana doesn't like stadiums, and especially not with our weather Laugh

Aspinall is going to be a champion, and it'll be interesting to see how quickly they push it. I was shocked at how easily he beat Volkov, as people just don't do that.

I'd imagine a fight against Lewis or something in Vegas would be a good sell, or they might try and to the Tuivasa fight at IFW?

You've got Stipe waiting for a fight, and Blaydes is in the top 5, too.

I'd imagine there will be another heavyweight interim now that Francis is out until 2023.

All interesting stuff TR, most of which Dana covered in the post event media conference. I wonder if the UFC will eventually do a UK stadium show. It would be spectacular if they did it in the middle of the summer at Anfield/Wembley/Old Trafford/London Stadium/Emirates/Spurs! So many options!!
By:
TimmyRiggins
When: 24 Mar 22 02:06
Yeah, Aspinall called out Tai, and Dana said about the stadiums.

Not sure he'll be able to keep Paddy winning long enough to do one, but if he can, I'd say summer 2023 would be as far as he can hold him off from top 10 opps. Could do it at the principality, and then that way you don't have to worry about the weather.

Maybe 2024 if Aspinall is champion then, and maybe he can retire Jon Jones Grin

Great battle between Burns and Chimaev.  Yan was poor but Sterling better than I expected. Whoops
By:
TimmyRiggins
When: 11 Apr 22 02:24
Super fight, and had a good sweat for my bet on Burns. Thought Chimaev was the likeliest winner, but was much closer to 50/50, than Burns being over 4/1!

Yan was poor in the first round, which cost him the fight. He got a bit over aggressive as well, which cost him, but he came back very well to win the last two rounds.

Very good fight, as well. Even though not as bloody, obviously.

Volkanovski be going up to get that 155 belt next, and will be good to see him battling up there.
By:

When: 11 Apr 22 02:36
Yeah, he's run out of challengers at 145 so it'll be interesting to see how he'd fare at 155.  Hard to believe he used to be 200+ pounds (at 5'6").
By:
TimmyRiggins
When: 11 Apr 22 11:54
He's a good guy, so will be nice to see if he can grab a belt there, too.

Clip of him saying to TKZ 'You sure' before they started fighting at the start of the fourth, because he knew he was ****.

Big lifestyle change, but he prob walks around at 170 which makes it a bit less wild.

He was carrying a lot of weight, which is always helpful if you're playing a lot of rugby Grin

Remember Rogan talking about Roy Jones, saying he could prob fight at middleweight if he ditched the fat.

He'll have to get back in camp soon, or he'll be fighting at middleweight, the bloater.

I'm going to have to work like **** the week before this card, as I only get back from the states on the 16th July Cry

looks like this London show is going to clash with Usyk v Joshua 2
By:
TimmyRiggins
When: 30 Apr 22 01:14
Yeah, could do. Will likely be ok if Usyk fight is in Arabia, though.

I imagine they'll time the main events not to clash.
By:
TimmyRiggins
When: 30 Apr 22 01:15
Yeah, could be the case. Likely to be in Saudi, so should be ok.

Imagine they'll work it so the main events don't clash.

Paddy has blown up to over 200 pounds by stuffing his face with the worst junk food. Have to wonder is he actually serious about having a successful MMA career or does he just want to be a celebrity.
By:
TimmyRiggins
When: 01 May 22 20:49
He's just gonna be a Tesco Value Ricky Hatton, without any UFC championship belts.

He has already had a successful career, and anything in the UFC will be a bonus.

Was a decision loss from being a 2 weight WC in Cage Warriors, and he's a very young guy for someone so experienced.

Some people live to fight, but he's obviously not one of those.

FRONT KICK!
By:
TimmyRiggins
When: 08 May 22 21:29
Tony looked good for 1st half of R1, too.

Horrendous KO, and Chandler bouncing around all over the cage was a bit OTT Laugh

Never seen anyone that stiff, for that long. Think he'll be back in '23, but should prob take the rest of the year off.

Charlie Olives loves going into the fire, and the pace of R1 was mental. Got hurt twice, and still ironed him out.

thoughts on the Olives failed weight situation? did he mess up or does he have a point about some tomfoolery at hand here?
By:

When: 09 May 22 00:05
I'm inclined to say his own fault, as it's not like he doesn't have previous.

Might have been a **** up, but more likely not. I'm not wasting any time worrying about it, lol.

Couple of good fights there and a couple of stinkers. Gaethje and Chandler are usually recklessly entertaining. That front kick was nuts. Grin

I missed Rose's fight as I was watching the Canelo fight, luckily for me.

Esparza been on a good run, but my girl Tatiana smoked her when they fought, and she's on the way back. Just not sure if she'll be fighting at 125 or 115 again.

Tickets sorted for £276, now just to sort London in a couple weeks, and that's me done with travelling for the rest of the year.

Unless the December Vegas card is something really wild, anyway.

Just saw my post, and wish me and my mate had got tickets for £276! Fking IFW X premiums... Like the prices for 200, when it was supposed to be Conor & Nate II!

I'm guessing they'll have him on the card, but must be waiting to see if it's at 155 or 185 Laugh

Tickets for London sorted, and much easier than last time. Hopefully over the jetlag from 276 trip!

Good step up for Aspinall, and card looking pretty decent.

Valentina got lucky and I don't think she deserved to win that. The clash of heads probably saved her. Glover so close to winning that. I think he would've got the decision if it had gone the distance. Anyway, great fight and good card overall.
By:
TimmyRiggins
When: 14 Jun 22 04:40
She did get lucky with the head clash, and without watching again I only gave Valentina the last 2 rounds. That said, you really have to do a number on the champ to get the belt, and she was a little too lazy when on top.

Great fight, and will be good to see it again.

He would have won it, for sure. Was up on 2 cards, and won that last round handily, until he didn't Cry

Fight for the ages, and going to watch the main 3 fights again before I fly out to 276 on Saturday.

Going to see if I can nick any tickets for the 2 apex cards either side, but they're so fkin' expensive.

Awesome card this week, volk/holloway trilogy, hope max wins, or 3-0 volk looks so much more 1 sided than it was.

Just got back yesterday, and just trying to catch up with work.

Great card, even if the main event wasn't one for casuals.

Never seen anything like the Max fight, and just shocking how dominant Volk was.

He was sliced up early, and amazed it actually went a full 5 rounds.

Busy week, then off to London on Friday for Aspinall v Blaydes, which will be a good test for him.

Once this weekend is over, I'm welded to my office until Xmas at the earliest!

Way too tough for her own good, unreal fight.

Some good ground exchanges, and looked like she might pull out the sub a couple times.

KKF & Moreno was awesome as well, and looking forward to the 4th fight with Figgy!
