I'm hoping I can get tickets for one of the Apex shows while I'm out there.
Aldo is fighting on the 4th at the Apex, and Derrick is fighting on the 18th. Hopefully there are some tickets available, and they're not prohibitively expensive. |

So you don't think there's been politics at play behind the scenes slowing things for Francis? I don't hear Dana talking about him much. I think he's been difficult behind the scenes regarding his pay.

‘You Discover How Political It Is’- Francis Ngannou Says He Was Supposed to Fight Jon Jones but UFC Didn’t Make It Happen
August 19th, 2021 Francis Ngannou and Dana White have not had the best of relationships. The two men have had their share of differences which has put a strain on the equation between them. This was further been aggravated after the UFC set up an interim title fight between Ciryl Gane and Derrick Lewis just four months after Ngannou won his belt. In a recent interview with GQ, ‘The Predator’ shared his thoughts on his current situation with the UFC. He said, “I am the heavyweight champ! And I want to be the UFC heavyweight champ. But in this game, as far as you go, you discover how political it is. The business side of it is not very nice—it’s not as easy as the sport itself. Before the [Stipe Miocic] fight, the only thing the UFC was talking about was how the winner of Stipe and I would face Jon Jones, and that never came along. And here we are: with an interim title and everything.” When asked if he felt the UFC was trying to devalue his status as a champion he said, “Absolutely! That’s how I feel. There’s one thing: if you say you understand the UFC, and how they do business, that means you don’t understand **** [laughs]. It’s just like that: it can be very spontaneous, premature, and decisions are out of nowhere. They just pop up like that: boom! But at the end of the day, things will get done. It’s just a matter of time.” |
By:
As I said, he told them he'd be ready in September, and they wanted it in August. He wasn't ready to fight, so Dana snap pulls an interim fight out.
Why is Dana going to talk about him, if he's not fighting? Jon Jones didn't make it happen. Thinking he should get Mayweather money. |
By:
Now he's fighting in January, they'll likely be talking again.
There is always politics in fighting, so that's hardly a shocker. Look at the dopey diaz brothers, sabotaging their own careers ![]() Nate is just lucky that Conor came along, or he'd be another BJ Penn, without the career. |
By:
Nick got that 5 year ban for marijuana, which was ridiculous.
It gets cut by a bunch, and he sits longer than the length of the whole ban anyway. Just Diaz brothers, doing Diaz things ![]() |
By:
Not Mayweather money Timmy!

By:
and you're definitely not a fan of the Diaz brothers are you TR?!
By:
anyway the point I was trying to make was that I wish we could see Francis fighting more regularly. it's crap only seeing him once a year while he's in his prime
By:
Sorry, I was thinking about Conor & Floyd when I posted, and wrote the wrong name
![]() I can take them or leave them, as you know. I'm a fan of the sport. We will, but he's hardly had a long time out (see your beloved brothers for that) ![]() Heavyweights last longer anyway, so a slow year during a pandemic isn't the worst thing. We'll see him fight 3x next year, I'd imagine. |

268 looks amazing

Huge ppv this week, and a huge night for trevor whitman who will be coaching gaethje, rose and usman
[23:37] it's really remarkable what he and henri hooft have done with this stable of fighters, the improvements to usman's boxing are insane, and physically he looks on another planet. |
By:
the transformation in gaethje's game and mindset are even more impressive, utterly transforming him from the wildest fighter in the sport who takes the most risks, had no drive to be champion despite his potential to a much more refined patient striker who has some of the best set ups in the game.
rose has also grown leaps and bounds especially psychologically where she has notoriously struggle with personal issues and confidence, I got ****g goosebumps hearing her before the 1st weili fight started |
By:
not the biggest leans to bet this ufc but i gotta take a small bet on rose. unsure how yebut i might look to play her ITD as getting a dec over 5 rounds will be a giant sweat with her gas tank being a big question.
gaethje could have success chopping at chadler's leg's and especially his calf. chandler mentioned he wants to mix it up going to the legs to open up the head and vice versa, idk if that's a good idea as gathje will welcome the chance to trade leg kicks he has the best in the sport right now. usman KO too |
By:
Yeah, it's a superb card.
Usman & Covington was the last card I went to, and the best fight I've ever seen live! I'm gonna go for the Trevor treble, even though I think Weili might get it back this time. Hope Gaethje beats the breaks off Chandler. I can't ****g stand him. |
By:
Gaethje v Chandler. ARE YOU READY?
![]() |
By:
That was absolutely nuts.
![]() |
By:
One of the best fights I have ever seen. Incredible.
By:
Yeah, spectacular fight and great card overall. What were the odds on the Trevor treble, Timmy?
By:
Paid just under 3/1, mate. I actually thought Zhang won it 3-2, but will have to watch again.
I only had a bullseye on it, but paid for my ticket to Haney/Diaz next month. Great card, and that Gaethje fight will have taken a few years off both their careers. Just madness, lol. Colby has improved, but so has Kamaru, and Colby is unlucky to be around at the same time as him. Think we'll see a third before they both disappear, though. |
By:
gaethje-chandler maybe fight of the year, burgos-quarantilo, usman-colby, sandhagen vs yan, and now holloway vs yair. amazing run of fights lately. can't forget fury vs wilder too.
By:
Yep, good card last night and Holloway fight was a banger. Looking forward to Dustin v Charlie.
By:
Yeah, it's been a great end to the year in both boxing & MMA.
Conor does not want any part of Holloway! He just about managed 5 rounds with Nate, and Max is much more active, and hits as hard. No way he manages 3 rounds with this Max, nevermind 5 ![]() Will be at 269, as long as I pass my test next week, lol. Trying to get tickets for Derrick Lewis and Aldo cards at the Apex, but think they're going to be too expensive. Might go to the Raiders games instead. Got a ticket for Haney v Diaz on the 4th, as well. |
By:
Praise to the MMA gods, wew only lost Leon v Jorge.
Roll on tomorrow, when El Diamante gets #paidinfull Loved Julianna ever since TUF, but she's going to get tuned up tomorrow. |
By:
Really looking forward to this card! let's go!!!!!!!
By:
BAM BAM!!
By:
Ok, everyone's going with Dustin. Small back of Charles to win this. Good prelims so far.

'No Chin' stopped again

Nunes 1.1SP lol

Charles Oliveira rules supreme !!
By:
DO BRONX!
By:
that can't have been good viewing for Conor McGregor. the guy who dominated him twice dismissed by Charlie Olives
By:
That was ****g awesome. Amazing fight by Julianna and the McGregor fights made Dustin look better than he actually is. A lot of people underestimated Charles though.
By:
Awesome card, awesome fights.
Definitely up there with 245 for best live card I've seen. Mate I took picked a good card to break his UFC duck with ![]() |
By:
Dustin almost had Charlie out in the first, but he's got that dog in him, too.
Won't make any difference to Conor, as he was hardly dominated in the 2nd fight, and I wouldn't call last night 'dismissed' by any means, lol. Conor looks like he's going to middleweight anyway, looking at the pics he's posting. Novitzky be looking for him ![]() |
By:
That Pena fight was insane. Super happy for her, but never given any indication she had that performance in her!
See that Kayla in the crowd seeing her 8 figure payday go up in smoke, as Nunes got choked out, lol. |

By:
Well done anyone that had a bet and nicked a few quid!
Just have to cope with another 5 days of Vegas until Bruno Mars on Friday night ![]() |
By:
The last two fights were so good that I just watched them again. Kayla Harrison screaming at the outcome of the Peña was hilarious.
Wonder will Nunez's career head in the same direction as Rousey's after she lost her "invincible" aura. ![]() |
