I hope the best horse wins. I do not want AOB / Coolmore to win. Does it make sense?

Action will be the hare. Con River will be prominent, and behind; Hawk Mountain principally to shadow Ombudsman throughout. A tactical replay by AOB / Coolmore similar to the Sussex Stakes eg Dorset (the hare), and Puerto Rico (Bow Echo's shadow).

I can’t help thinking that the Godolphin colt isn’t unbeatable, but this is his track, Sandown isn’t.

So been looking at the form of Items last race which I haven’t yet seen (missed it on the day.)

Two things standout just looking at the result.

Royal Champion is a consistent horse, Delacroix was beaten 3 1/4 by Ombudsman here last year, the distance that Item put on him is impressive.

1m 2f                   4/5 btn 5½L Item 9-2

Sha G1  1m2f            2¾L Romantic Warrior 9-0

Jan G1  1m2½f    4¾L Facteur Cheval 9-0

Bhr G2 1m2f            ¾L Galen 9-2    15/8F

Leo  1m2f              3/8 btn 3L Delacroix 9-3

Then when you look at Dancing Gemini from the same race it becomes interesting again.

York 1m2f    5/5 btn 13½L Item 9-2    16/1

Asc C1G1 567K    1m2f    GF    9-2 p    5/8 btn 11½L Ombudsman 9-2

Indeed. Ombudsman is a very good horse but not unbeatable. Ombudsman is not Almanzor. May the best horse win - without trickery. This is the best result for horseracing.

I tend to agree with Mick also, at least by the eye. River is only rater 2lb above Item and I think he’s been rated very high on his last run.

River drawn wider between two pacemakers, will get a nice toe in from them.

Problem is Everone is hyping this race up and it’s happened a few times this flat season that some other good horse will come along and beat them both …just don’t know which one

I hope the York stewards are monitoring the race closely. It's a major detriment worldwide to horseracing UK, if race trickery is seen to profit.

And Howard agree that was what I was getting at with River running like the French colt.

Ombudsman has that burst like Kaplana then it’s fumes after the initial kick.

Royal Champion had a penalty last time as did Item, just watched the race, he won well enough having looked done for toe.
He’ll like the fast pace if it’s on.

“Item was cut to 14/1 from 16s for the Juddmonte International back at York”

Missed that price after York.

Tough call. I will go Constitution river but not with too much confidence. You won't get a selection out of the 2 freaks on here ( frico and bubbles). Only they know why they won't.

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are inseparable. They are joined at the hip. They'll self-destruct if an attempt to separate is attempted.

Ombudsman will be the 1ST since  Halling to Win this race back to back,
who funnily enough was originally trained by Johnny G.
Rain stays away, think he'll be too good for these tomorrow.

Watching Ombudsmans two wins in the Prince Of Wales and his win in this race last year. I think its a stretch to say his accelerates and then runs on fumes.

So which one is it Delashay? You stated CR has a similar run style to Calandagan "If he can keep tabs when Ombudsman goes then he might be worn down" Which horse might be worn down, just to avoid confusion? In addition you agreed with Mick that Ombudsman has superior acceleration  which muddies the water somewhat but not unusual for you?

As far as the race itself any one of the top 4 in the betting could win but Almaqam only if the going eased considerably, Item has to step up on form to date and not impossible he could. That said Constitution River is as entitled to progress similarly and already has the superior form and given the ratings should beat him.

The big question for me is has Ombudsman got any more improvement at the age of 5 or will he have enough in hand to beat CR anyway? They should almost dead heat if they ran to their rating at the weights, if that is the case then the potential progression is more likely to come from CR and imo that would give him the edge. Likely to be tuned to the minute and hard not to ignore his jockeys comment post Sandown given he rarely eulogises like that unlike the trainer.

I hate to abandon Ombudsman in favour of AOB but when it comes to punting, no room for affection. There you go Delashay!!

Brandy, watch back last years Eclipse, then the Champion stakes where Caladagan stayed within two length’s of him and it might show what I mean.

I don’t like the form of the POW but as said Gosden has him at his track having avoided the clash at Sandown.

River is one that they have minded, the rest they’ve let run, all eggs in that basket, but Hawk Mountain ran a mighty race in the Eclipse to stay on having raced far too keen.

Thanks foe the attention again and if you need me to explain what I wrote then save me bother or replying to you again, you ran from the thread where you accused me of plagiarising you! Crazy

By:

When: 18 Aug 26 21:15
Not for me, Dela.
I think he kicks and stays kicking.

I agree with Howard that the prices are about right in this making limited betting appeal. Though Constitution River is getting too short.

The only angle I see is if the French horse is a decent price on here in the place market. I think they will ride him cold to pick up some pieces.

A cracking race to look forward to.

Apart from losing 4 million have you ever tipped a winning horse longer than 1/20 sha£ter or is this why you are now broke?  Send the £5K to Blesma at £1 per week if it helps you out?
