I think Ombudsman a class act but does need fastish ground.
I'd like to see him given a chance @ the Breeders Cup Turf, going permitting. Let's not forget apart from the Derby flop, Item is unbeaten. |
By:
Rushed him up the rail, rather than gradually moving to better ground off the rail. Dettori knew how to ride this course.
By:
why does BOOBY WALSH think its madness for leader to come off the rail, 6 off the rail is place to be at york, so your in front go wide they either have to come up your inside on the worst of the ground or come middle or further wide to go by you, thats why they do it, 2 best jocks in world trying to do each other in,end up on worst art of the track, moore could have been where the 1st and 2nd were if he wasnt to busy trying to box buick in,
By:
I only criticise jockeys when skulduggery is evident, never for an unlucky ride, but I'm afraid the ineptitude of Buick's ride on Ombudsman, the best horse in the race, was so overwhelmingly stupid from flag fall to finish, Johnny G would be quite within rights to sack him. William is too prone to disasters like this. Get rid Johnny and get Billy the Kid in.

On ITV at the start of the day Rossa was interviewed by Trapman, He said that he thought that they’d come down the middle as the best ground was there. Had said that it was slower on either rail.

kook where theyve all finshed their compared to moore and buick in the last

Over the years I do think Buick throws in the occasional unfathomable ride. He talks well but not sure if he is the brightest star in the sky.
By:
So, are the people criticising Buick saying he should have switched out wide?
By:
How on Earth could he do so,duffy.
Pocket talkers are us |
By:
Agree irons, there was a chance at the start of the long sweep for home when he could have eased back around Action but he was keen and I think Buick didn't want him racing in daylight that early, around the final home turn it was three deep back there and he'd have had to give up a stack of ground and momentum then, the gaps came and went up the inner and all that on off effort used him up...that's racing.
By:
Gosden spoke of the perils of being drawn 1 being the off. Taking into the bend that comes up.
Given Ryan’s comments to Trapman where Moore rode was odd. Not just Buick. Look where the winner came! |
By:
Well Item was able to do so, and he was right next to Ombudsman if you watch the race again.

Buick's contract is with Owners Godolphin not Trainer Gosden. Mr Gosden couldnt sack him even if he wanted to. |

Moore could have gone anywhere, Keane chose to go there. He’s furthest away from the rail as the photo on the post now shows.
By:
And,why would he want to?
Ground did for the fav, simple as that |
By:
the gaps came up the inner because no one other than buick and moore wanted to be there and moore was only there to try and box buick in for as long as possible , moore had 1st go/option of racing where the 1st and 2nd finished, buick could have stayed behind the winner instead of going up his inner and getting himself on the rail but he was more interested in following what he thought was his only danger
By:
With hindsight Item has the credentials to win eg stays the distance (Derby), pacesetters went awol and not troubled by the softish going. The principals ran way below potential for differing reasons.
By:
Keane was forced to go wide when the door clos3d in front of him.
By:
Winning time of race was slow by 0.14s, nothing much wrong with the ground for Ombudsman if he had avoided the slow ground on the rail as Rossa had highlighted earlier today.
.. |
By:
What part of his 26L defeat in the Derby showed he stayed, Impossible123?

You’re right Storm, earlier in the year for the Dante it was the reverse, Moore came up the middle on slower ground, whereas Item and Action were nearest the stands rail.
Buick will take a lot of flack but at the same time Moore deserves it too for his positioning. Last time out Item was tapped for toe, then stayed on well. River was rated too highly for beating the same horse in the Eclipse 1L more. The French have him very highly rated no doubt to boost their race, the for, is looking dough. |

He's no fisherman. |

but,he doesn't have them on "ignore",penzance

Either way,he is either a fisherman or an absolute moron

By:
I think Buick is getting criticised a little unfairly.
In the previous race the jockeys did not come up the middle, but stayed on the rail. Keane on Item, was forced to come wide when the gap he was looking for inside Almaqam closed. Even in the following race a few jocks tried to come up the inside. They are all thick. |

. Yes yes indeed. Slick puts frico to the sword AGAIN. AGAIN the freak puts up a 2-11 "rock solid" bet - ombudsman 1st 3. Slick said "no its not". ANOTHER serious odds on shot stuffed. As Slick told the absolute lemon. Its becoming a habit. Maybe Slick is just lucky. How does he keep doing it the freako must wonder. Time to take up knitting and go for a sherry freaky. And bring all your other usernames with you. Betting is clearly not for you. You're all washed up. You have ZERO credibility left. AGAIN wd slick ![]() |

Ombudsman was close enough to strike but do think he was disappointing over all but
hopefully it was the ground. We'll see if he gets fast ground again. |

Very very rare I aftertime. Nearly every bet I put up here is well in advance of the race. Off time: 14:15 slickster 13 Aug 26 14:20 Only laid a ton at 1.06 and a ton at 1.07. slickster 13 Aug 26 14:27 Oh AND I backed the winner at 2s. slickster 13 Aug 26 22:02 Wasn't really a "guess" frico. When you KNOW the 1/4 fav can't win and it's a 2 horse race |
