Split second decisions. Tobehonest it didn't look lame to me up the run in. Or the commentator.

I thought after the last its stride looked awkward as though something was amiss but I'm no jockey.

I’ve just heard the news, from Ed the Tooth he, “says he felt fine, it was just when he pulled up that something was wrong.”

Hoiles didn’t say that in commentary said, that it wasn’t stepping out right in real time before the line.

Disgusting Sad

A commentator can see it, but top jock not feel it?

It's all very sad. But Gold Dancer didn't become obviously lame until being pulled up after the line.

I'm no expert but that horse was definitely in trouble all the way up the run in, I actually shouted out loud "that horse has gone wrong". There's no knowing if the horse would have survived if it had been pulled up straight away, but it certainly should have been.

Thought he did the right thing in real time, it was only after the line and a chat with another jockey which pointed out it was bad and you see Paul then jump right off.

Awful scenes but Paul is a horseman and no way he keeps running if he had of known.

He couldn't have known how bad it was. But he must have felt the horse was not running out correctly, hence the panic.

I’ve told what’s happened, commentator could see that it was wrong, Ruby said maybe the pelvis broke! But he’s not a veterinarian either!

And I suppose, rtv should be asking the question at the very very least. They are acting as if it randomly snapped a leg after the line.

A cowardly affair.

Only Townend will know whether the horse felt wrong or not, not much time to think about it and of course the adrenelin will be high in the jockey as well. Difficult one to know what to do in a short space of time.

so a G1 winner put down immediatly after the race, and no discussion about it at all on ITV.I'm now beginning to think the animal rights activists have a point.

Rico normally i tend to agree with you and you aren't wrong in saying he was going away at the line but....
GD was 8-10Lths ahead at the last and a clean jump it would have been a 20l win imo,the 2nd was legless before the last. I don't think GD was running 'right' from the last.

They have ammunition with this, ITV won’t discuss it!

now beginning to think the animal rights activists have a point.

They've always had a point, but the wider point is that it is a complex discussion not a Knee-jerk summary point.
Horse racing balances many issues, both positive and negative.

true of course - but racing tries to pretend otherwise "we love our horses" etc etc - so can't expect anything other than severe criticism when something like this happens
