We can house, feed and welfare, at £7/8 million per day is it, all sorts of scrounging foreign bastards who have come here for a free ride yet these hard-working, honest British citizens won;t be paid just compensation.
We should all be making all of our individual M.P.'s lives a misery by badgering them into taking action. |

Where did the money go? were people nicking it at the computer place?

I wasn't going to watch it as in theory I agreed with those who thought an investigative documentary would be more suitable, but in fact it was very well done and has clearly brought a huge scandal into the light : something the mainstream media has failed to do. Private Eye have been banging on about it for years but the others will mention but never really follow up.
Incidentally though the PO bears the main responsibility somebody needs to look into Fujitsu's role in this. At the very least they should never be considered for any other government contract. |
By:
'seaside', the same question was asked by one of the postmistresses affected to the forensic investigator employed by the Post Office. The forensic investigator stated the "missing money" paid back by some of the affected postmasters/postmistresses was sitting in the account of the Post Office for some time then "absorbed" into their account as profit ie it ended up as profit of the Post Office.
Scandalous! |

It's the government and Civil Service involvement here that needs ruthless exposing. People have insisted to the P.O. that they must use any methods whatsoever to obtain convictions and paybacks in every case. Innocence wasn;t even considered as an option. It seems clear to me that eventually the government insisted that legal actions be carried through in every case - mo matter the personal cost to those accused.
Deplorable. Find out who these people are. Vennels and her sidekick carried it out but on whose commands!!!????? |

By:
loyal honcho, no doubt about it, Vennels was carrying out order from higher figures in some ways shes the scapegoat imo certain she could say a lot of things , but worth reading the article i put up earlier . https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-12932027/post-office-scandal-itv-drama-gilded-lives.html
By:
I think Ms Vennls traded her character and integrity for a "title" and money. Imagine what her remunerations have done for herself and family eg her next posts/children's education and housing/etc.
Not just a serving Conservative Minister linked to Fujitsu, the former Labour Home Sec Mr Jack Straw's wife. She was on the coal face telling untruths to the government and public. These are the scums in high offices. |
By:
Vennells has a lot of questions to answer mainly about the cover-up but her predecessor who was actually in charge for most of the years when everyone was getting screwed over was Adam Crozier. Some might remember him as CEO of the FA before that (he appointed Sven-Goran Eriksson). Apparently he does not feature in the ITV drama but I'm sure this has nothing to do with the fact that he is now CEO at ITV.
By:
Adam Crozier might well have given the go ahead for this prog, he knows if the top people ever get to court this drama will have prejudiced the case against them

She's handed back her CBE. Now when might she get a knock on the door?
By:
I expect a few will be chucked under the bus to protect the higher ups, she must have thrown those involved
into panic by giving back the gong. |
By:
I hope she gets hounded everywhere she goes and feels the fear, shame, ignominy, isolation, desolation, etc, that so many of these poor people felt for fifteen years and more. And let's get van something while we are at it.
And as for Alan Bates. If cows like Mone and Davidson ( and very nearly Dorries ) can be fast=tracked into the House of Lords then so should he. He should now be honoured as a peer of the realm. |
By:
Agreed honcho and no amount of money can ever compensate those wronged. I am just surprised that nobody including MPs of any party has suggested removing prosecution powers from the Post Office, had this gone through the CPS it would probably have been highlighted a lot quicker that so many were being prosecuted for the same thing.
As to what happens now, I suspect the Met will be looking at conspiracy charges rather than individual indictments i.e conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, easier to nail multiple offenders although the ones guilty of perjury also easily identified individually. |
By:
GoBallistic, Crozier is not ceo of ITV any more.

I am just surprised that nobody including MPs of any party has suggested removing prosecution powers from the Post Office ..................... Anyone can bring private prosecutions I think, of course it helps if you have unlimited funds and go after small fry. |
By:
The Post Office have a statutory right saddo and the prosecutions were criminal rather than private as far as I am aware, similar to HMRC etc.
By:
Does the Post Office have the right to prosecute someone?
Post Office has no special authority to bring private prosecutions. The right to bring a private criminal prosecution is available to both companies and individuals in England and Wales as a result of section 6(1) of the Prosecution of Offences Act 1985. This must be wrong them |
By:
Apologies saddo, that is correct. Was just going by the few reported interviews being conducted under PACE, so yes private in the sense you state but still criminal.
By:
I stand corrected Saddo. Should have known that from the Philip Schofield fiasco

saddo, your grasp of the legal ramifications of anything is very impressive.

1 was asking the same ? as seaside if no one was stealing any money subposties or horizon[ fjitsu employees and some subbies were making up the wrong balances out of their pockets,if as stated the post office eventually claimed the excess payments, some people at the post office should like the subbies be charged with THEFT.FRAUD and plod need to arrrest and jail them, just like post office were willing to jail those who they thought had stolen off them
By:
agree 1st time poster but these khoonts have friends in high places unlike the sub postmasters.

It’s amazing what an impact this TV drama has had. I’m surprised as it used to be on the local news quite a lot, so I presume it was shown on almost every region, yet nothing much was done.

She's handed back her CBE. Now when might she get a knock on the door?
handing you fooking CBE back isn't going to bring the dead people back to life. cnt. |

she has said we are very sorry ..............they are only sorry that they have been tumbled !

Always the case Foyles and usually when they realise the game is up, one of the few I ever stopped for speeding said "Sorry mate I would have slowed down if I had seen you"!!
By:
I gather she is some kind of priest, does she think her God
forgives her for this disgraceful episode I wonder. |
By:
any normal person knowing that people would be jailed ,losing homes livelyhood and lives woulda come clean and said its our fault we know theres a glitch in the system . how they sleep at night is beyond me . one good thing is they might not be sleeping so well now.
By:
Would she be the first criminal to hide behind the cloth?
By:
This is why I hope the Met go for the conspiracy angle saddo & Foyles, hard to hide for anyone involved including the upper echelon.
By:
would imagine they will sort out a way of getting off lightly cag
By:
No doubt they will try Foyles but all down to the Courts as to sentences if any, the beauty of the conspiracy angle is that a thin thread can bring down the house of cards from top to bottom, those at the bottom being given incentives if required.

its got to go above the post office, what benefit do the post office get from defending/hiding the failings in a tech theyve paid millions for, they must have been lent on from a higher power
