Mitolo, I find it impossible to understand how anyone can fail to see whats actually going on regarding the immense dangers of uncontrolled, unvetted mass immigration, the evidence of the damage it has caused is there for everyone to see.

MOTD constantly criticised for being out of touch, outdated so maybe Lineker was looking for an out in any case.

Earns around 1.5 million per annum - parts on almost mutual terms and lands a job with SKY , BT Sport etc for 2 mil a year.

Non story really.

'MOTD will focus on match action without presentation or punditry'

Brillant news, a win win all round. Maybe save a few quid to bid for some proper live sport, like MEN'S football, how about some horse racing.

Govt has no policy re migrants
Stop the boats !
And do what with them ?
That they haven't tried already and not worked
Forking out a fortune for Rwandan "hotels"
Who pays that unused bill ?

French don't give a stuff or they would cut out at source
Happy to get rid - however that is

These desperate people are willing to die to get here
Someone has to speak up for the wrongs

Lineker comes across well, not afraid to take the p out of himself and speaks his mind
Wokeness gone mad if he goes
Replaced by some insipid woke friendly too scared to say boo
Fecking madness

lineker is excellent at what he does. poofballers are famously fick. you only have to look at them. their opinions are worthless

the point evryone misses is that had he said the opposite all those shouting about free speech would be howling him down for being a cossetted zillionaire poofballer who knows nothing about the lives of 'ordinary' (thats you folks) people

free speech only exists in the minds of those that agree with the speaker

Anyway, they are all happy now with no presenter or pundits and they can mute the commentary and watch on a 12 inch black and white TV to complete their idea of paradise.

correct mr.hat

ive been chucked off twitter 1 million times and have given up

free speech is something we must support at any cost but there is a penalty; enemies who supress it at home use it to foment division and spread lies that set us against each other. thats why rasputin set up the st petersburg ira. the police state of russia funds a group of interweb liars and hackers that aim to destroy trust in anything and everyone. they dont want you to believe what they say; they want you to doubt or disbelieve everything. and they have succeeded. how they love conspiracy theories. its golden for them

what does me head in is those that constantly denigrate 'the west' as we must call it while not applying their critical faculties to others. it has a long ignoble history, brilliantly highlighted by the great george orwell when he said there is nothing more hypocritical and morally repugnant than a western educated liberal excusing the appalling lack of human rights in other states(he meant the ussr) while castigating the society that allowed him to advocate its destruction

he put it rather better than that, you will not be surprised to hear

He;s got his own streams of income elsewhere.  And he isn;t out yet, just on leave.
And on top of it all he is quite right.  This Braverman uses inflammatory language all the time and should be more responsible.

Braverman is one of the better politicians, but even she needs to do more than just talk.

As for Lineker, he epitomises the cushy life of those dipping bread getting rewards well above his abilities artificially funded by the license fee.
He’s just a presenter, they don’t have to be ex footballers, but if they want one there are hundreds retiring every year there’s no reason to pay him those amounts.
I remember him getting bullied and kicked around by the likes of Nick Hancock, himself unremarkable.

It’s time to bring MOTD into today’s age, they don’t need out of work ex footballers in the studio…give it chatbot to do Laugh

The usual stream of irrelevancies here. When will those making contributions to a debate realise what is and is not relevant. Re the Lineker situation:

1. He is vastly overpaid. True but IRRELEVANT. Fault of the BBC.
2. The job of "presenter" is vastly over-rated. Can YOU read an autocue? Ditto.
3. If he is not allowed to make comment in public on items outside football, that should be stated explicitly in his contract. Is it? "Having a word" is not an item of contract.
4. He criticised Tory policy in that one aspect of it (as stated by a senior Tory politician) resembled Nazi policy from the 1930s. ABSOLUTELY TRUE. No question of it. The fact that the Nazis did other things as well is IRRELEVANT. (Stalin was said to be fond of children.)

Mountain and molehill issue.

It shows the world we live in these days Re the "power" of SM. 1 solitary tweet can DESTROY the life of anyone in the public eye. Remember Roseanne Barr? Granted, Lineker hardly said anything as stupidly offensive, and yet there's serious "pressure" on his employers to give him the shove due to the "outrage" seen across SM.

Let's be clear, Lineker is a smarmy, hypocritical **** who should've got the shove during his NAUSEATING hosting of the WC(all that holier-than-thou shyte he was spouting) so I personally don't feel any sorrow or sympathy for the cretin. MOTD minus presenters sounds like a grand idea to me. All the highlights of the games 1 after the other - without interruption from x-"Pros" - who week on week are guaranteed to bore you as they deliver the same old obvious/cliched muck over&over..

PS: With the utter DESPERATION of the "Epl" spreading their legs for the same head-chopping savages that Lineker loves to criticise, this could easily be his subconscious crying for an out..
By:

When: 11 Mar 23 10:02
Agree with Prosniper on much of that.

Should be great just watching the highlights without  all the waffle in between.
Cloughie said it years ago in an interview with Barry Davies (I think).

Said something like. "Why don't you and your lot just shut up and show the football? If it's a 0-0 game so be it but let the people watching make their own minds up about what's happening on the pitch."

Don't think Wrighty or Shearer will be missed either - both dull as ditch water.

What I want commentators to do is the likes of telling me who just read the game brilliantly, intercepted an opposing pass then laid on the pass that started the attack which created the goal.  I can do the rest myself but identifying players on the box at the pace the game is played is still often quite difficult.  They all get themselves into a lather instead of commentating and informing.

With any look the gravy train could be hitting the buffers.

These people consider themselves personalities that use their own soapbox of influence due to the following they get for simply being on tv.

If they fancy themselves as policy writers or politicians then stand at an election and be accountable.

There was a ‘news’ article on the BBC website last week about some talentless type saying in the headline why she was going to allow the public to watch her give birth….

I didn’t need to read it, or want to as I already know why, because she has nothing else to offer. It’ll be sponsored turd watch soon enough just to get viewings.

I agree with one of the messages sent to 5live this morning. "Match of the Day would be much better with non stop recorded play and minimal input from ex players" They get paid from our license fee don't forget. That applies to a lot of BBC programmes. Two news presenters when ITV or Sky use one is just one small example of their profligacy. I watch athletics when I can and if there is a choice of BBC and Eurosport I always watch the latter as they cover as many events live as they can, hardly ever show a talking head and don't cheat by showing recordings and pretending it is live as the BBC do all the time.

Nearly every post on this thread has someone giving an opinion but it seems if you are a paid TV presenter you aren't allowed to do that, even although he posted on his own twitter page,  it just seems mad to me.

His tweet and Hancock's tweet during the pandemic of "let's scare the pants off them with the new Kent variant", I know which one offends me most.
