Afternoon Anorak,

I did take a close look at him in one of the qualifying runs at Windsor, but I didn't put him in. I may regret it!

I see the changed trainer notification is already on the RP website even though he doesn't have any current entries. Maybe he was scratched from a race this week?
Also noticed he's still a colt, so a possible source of 'improvement' there if they opt to have him gelded.

I've just the one qualifier in this.

Intriguing Lady, 1pt EW @ 14-1, 4.20 Hexham

I'm surprised this one isn't a bigger price. I noted her in February in a Wolverhampton 8.5f seller when I took the view she might win a similar race or low grade handicap on the AW when things pan out more favourably.  She ran poorly in two subsequent runs, though might have had excuses, and has since left the Johnstons for just £2000.

She now turns up in a juvenile hurdle with stamina and effectiveness on turf to prove, so fair to say I'm not that optimistic about this one, but at least she has joined a yard that can get them ready for juvenile hurdles.

David Pipe won this race last season and runs French import Free Chakarte who won twice on the level in her native country and whatever the worth of the form, that surely counts for plenty in this field.

Of those with a domestic Flat official rating, National Charter, who didn't last long with the Haggas yard, comes out marginally on top when her 7lb allowance is factored in, just ahead of the Alan King-trained Jad Mahal.

National Charter finished ahead of Bukela in a 13-runner, 14f handicap at Wetherby in April when conceding 9lb to that rival, so would appear favoured by today's weights if that form is any guide. Both seemed to show enough to suggest that they should have the stamina for this.

It will be interesting to see which way Moonlight Dawn and Quickdrawmcgraw go in the market, coming from stables who can land a punt.

My guess would be Bukela for what is worth, perhaps not a lot. Not much cop but looks more or less certain to stay the trip and trainer knows the time of day with Flat horses going jumping.

I might be slightly prejudiced against her as I used to own part of her half brother who was one of the most ungenuine animals I have ever had the misfortune to be involved with!

Bukela would have finished first or second, bit annoying not to get the chance to find out. Winner did it very readily mind. I won't be rushing to back any of the rest of that lot next time out.

Didn't watch any Hexham so just looked up the result George. Either the winner was above average (good French flat form) or the rest were very moderate.

There is a juvenile hurdle this evening at Newton Abbot, where Ed Dunlop has a rare runner over hurdles. My sole qualifier is the filly who I selected in the opening race of the season at Hexham - Intriguing Lady.

She did show up ok to a point, having tried to put it to the fav, but stamina remains a worry, even though this sharper track may suit better. Also, she didn't look the most resolute between the last two flights when she held every chance of holding onto third place.

So a watching brief on this occasion.

the numbers seven, it looked like she was going to finish last when they turned into the home straight, but then the carnage at the second last and she's somehow managed to finish second. At least it seemed she stayed the trip when ridden with restraint round a sharp track, albeit in a race lacking any depth.

Tbh, I'm not sure I'll be selecting her again, especially now I've missed the chance to get back the two pts back I lost on her at Hexham!

The yard do run the odd one on the Flat, so maybe a low grade AW race may be their best chance of getting a win out of her, imo.

The form shown by the first two in the betting is nothing special. I think Beerenberg was undone by fitness first time out, so backing him to be too strong for the fillies.

Not sure what the form is worth as it looked a steady pace and they've finished in a bit of a heap, but he looks a big scopey sort.

Rolypolymoly, 1pt win @ 8-1, 2.36 Stratford

My only qualifier in this is Rolypolymoly, who I noted on his reappearance at Pontefract in April over one mile (g/s) when he endured quite a tough trip having been caught three wide in a race where the first three raced round the inner, and he didn't shape too badly in the circumstances. He then ran well to finish in the first four in a couple of starts when keeping on over 10f at Nottingham and Leicester.

He seemingly disappointed on his latest start at Salisbury when trying 12f for the first time when finishing only 6th of the 7 runners, but it looked a messy race (just over 4l covered the field at the finish) with not much pace on and he didn't get the clearest of runs a furlong out. That said, the first two home, Caius Chorister and Wagga Wagga, have franked the form emphatically since.

Rolypolymoly looks like he's got a bit of size about him and despite being by a speed influence he evidently takes more after his dam's side when it comes to stamina. He doesn't appear to do anything quickly so not sure this is the ideal track for him, but otherwise he looks an interesting recruit to juvenile hurdling.

I was a bit worried about the sharp track for Rolypolymoly on quickish ground and I think that did prove to be the case, but he stayed on nicely for second, albeit no match for the winner.
