It's obviously risky from what could turn out a poor draw and an inexperienced apprentice doing the steering, but there was reason to think she shaped better than the bare result in a stronger race last time.

No, poor. Can't even blame the draw given the winner came from two, albeit ended up in the centre.

Maybe you could give her one more chance back at Dundalk? Hard to take any positives out of that run.

Favorite Child, 1pt EW @ 16-1, 1.40 Doncaster (4 PLACES)

Favourite Child may look more exposed than most of the opposition but she makes some EW at the prices with four places on offer, and with the rain seemingly having missed Doncaster.

She might have been favoured by racing from a low draw at Leicester (6f, g-f) two starts back, but it was still a good effort to be just held close home by one who has since gone close in a Class 2 nursery at Goodwood off a 5lb higher mark. Favourite Child races off a 4lb higher mark today.

Favourite Child wasn't disgraced on her latest start at Chester in class 2 conditions event, given the ground might not have been ideal, she wasn't well in on adjusted ratings, and the run might have come soon enough just four days after her Leicester effort. The way she kept on there and at Leicester, suggested she may benefit from the extra half-furlong of today's race.

Another brilliant selection George, I backed them both place only.

Alflaila, 1pt EW @ 9-1, 1.40 Doncaster

Jim Crowley has deserted Alflaila in favour of Shadwell's other runner in this, but he's still of interest here following an eye-catching effort at the Ebor meeting in a nursery handicap. Drawn widest of the sixteen runners that day, he raced on the outer of the field and had to make his challenge initially more towards the stands-side, which might not have been the best part of the track, but he made sustained headway to close on the first two, who were drawn low and had kinder trips. The form looks a lot better now with the winner Harrow coming out and a winning a valuable sales race here yesterday.

Alflaila is up in grade today to Listed company and has a bit to find on the figures with a few of these, but he's improving and is unexposed at 7f.

Korker, 1pt EW @ 33-1, 2.10 Doncaster (4 PLACES)

Korker has plenty to find on official ratings in this Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes, but he gets a speculative EW vote having caught the eye last time at York over 6 furlongs in a valuable sales race, having raced freely in a prominent position before leading over two furlongs out when still travelling well, before being headed over a furlong out and weakening inside the final furlong, in a race won by Ever Given, who went close to winning a another valuable sales race here yesterday.

The drop back to 5 furlongs looks a wise move on that evidence and if he can distribute his energy more evenly this time it wouldn't surprise to see him outrun his odds.

Alfaila was just better than evens on the exchange George.

I think you should count the 4th place as a winner as everyone on here has a sportsbook account -it's not as if it was only with one of the minor books .

Scope, 1 pt EW @ 40-1, 3.35 Doncaster

Scope makes a little EW appeal at the prices in the St Leger. He was returning from over three months off when beaten just over two lengths into fifth in the Great Voltigeur, finishing just behind today's rivals The Mediterranean, Youth Spirit and Sir Lucan. He shaped quite well, never too far away in what appeared a well run contest, disputed the lead in the straight before getting a bit outpaced but staying on well to not be beaten far.

His dam is a half-sister to the Oaks winner Look here, and the way Scope stayed on at York, when having just his fourth start, suggested he could be suited by today's step up in trip.  He did win his novice on heavy ground (when beating Mojo Star) and apparently connections have been hoping for rain, so hopefully the change in going won't have a detrimental affect on his chance.

Sisterandbrother, 1pt EW @ 25-1, 4.10 Lingfield

Sisterandbrother is given a speculative vote switching to the AW for the first time. He has run well to be second on a couple of occasions behind horses who have gone on to win again, and he probably ran better than the bare result when fourth at Windsor a couple of starts back given he did best of the prominent racers in a race where it paid to be held up.

Sisterandbrother disappointed on his latest start at Ffos Las, but it's possible the run was needed after a short break and gelding operation. His dam was a dual 12f winner on the AW, albeit at Southwell, and being by Sixties Icon, this step up in trip to 13f could suit.
